Little Things You Notice
I notice last weekend that they turned this boat over...... And pcc, I love the flowers at KI!

Wooden Coaster FACE OFF!
Couldn't have put it better myself! There is no comparison!!! HW puts KI to shame in this poll!

Kings Island frozen alcholic drinks
And I must add, being too drunk at a park is never a good thing..... For example, the woman who died on Flight Commander and Tower Johnny (and countless examples at other parks). Both of those should be lessons to us all about responsible behavior around rides that could literally kill those who act irresponsibly!!!!

Fountains in the front of the park...........
Except security!!!!! Bad idea!!!!!

KI needs an Intamin!
To quote the old saying that I often said to my children, "You get what you get, and you don't throw a fit." I have always loved KI, and any ride they add will not change that! But, on my recent vacation, I felt that KI somehow seemed incomplete without an Intamin.

I should have known. I really should have known.
But still very nice on a hot day. I have a $5.00 Bass Pro Shop tshirt that I wear when its ungodly hot outside!

Carowinds Throws Pricing Integrity To The Wind
Sorry. So when they make that announcement, the discount will apply, at least until there is an announcement to the contrary. --Beatle, remembering what a nice time we had when I took a vacation day on Wednesday, August 6, 2008.....

The kids have chosen KD for Dominator and the new Giga and Great Adventure for KK, Nitro, and, especially, El Toro (after The Voyage, they really! want to ride it and compare the two)!

Kings Island frozen alcholic drinks
In the last two years, I think I have had all of three beers at parks. However, I think anythging you buy there is vastly overpriced. I would suggest drinking in the parking lot like I used to in my younger days (but only when someone else was driving, of course). LOL!!

Coaster Battle #2: Big, Rough, & Wooden
I've never ridden Texas Giant either. But I had to vote for Son of Beast. Not to sound negative, but I think Mean Streak is, quite possibly, the worst coaster I have ever ridden. --Beatle, who knows that whenever someone begins a sentence with the words "Not to sound negative, but...", they are about to say something negative .

Then those probably weren't knock offs. More likely, they were stolen. But back on topic, I have a KI shirt that I wore maybe six times before the collar started to separate from the rest of the shirt. ANd I paid more than $5.00 for it. My gray Diamondback shirt has held up well for almost a year, though.

Teen Injured on Raptor at Cedar Point
Wow! In the past. if riders feeling faint and dizzy could shut down a ride, Der Spinnin Keggers and Witch's Cauldron would never have been open...... Just shows how wussified our world has become IMO..... But I'm glad the kid didn't have any serious problems! --Beatle, who used to play on blacktop playgrounds that were usually covered in broken glass.

Rank KI's Coasters
This is hard to do, because I remember The Racer in its glory days, and it was amazing. You could look at the train next to you and see it catching on the upstops on the run back to the station while you were banging your thighs on the single bar restraint. But The Beast is and always will be my childhood (and sentimental) favorite! Diamondback would be next, just a phenomenal ride where I can relax my entire body and float...... After that, I would call it a tie between all of the others, because they all have their attributes, and when I go to the park, I'm just happy to be there!!! But, sadly, The Racer, my first "big coaster, is a mess these days, Scooby Doo (nka FOC) is trimmed for reasons known only to God and the park and Bavarian Beetle is no more....LOL!!! Since The Beast is now 30 years old, we should put this thread in a time capsule and read it 30 years from now! I will be 70 (if I'm still around), my kids will be about 40, and their kids will laugh at us because we thought Diamondback was big.....

I Think...I Just.. Fell in love
I fell in love with The Beast years ago. And with The Voyage and The Raven last year.... And I adore Magnum and MF and Maverick and TTD at CP! You can be in love with more than one coaster at the same time!!! They're not like women..... LOL!!!

KI needs an Intamin!
The thought of a B&M invert over 200 feet tall has crossed my mind as well... It would be difficult to avoid hurting riders' knees and quad muscles though, IMO....

Kings Island Quiz
You know you are a KI addict when.... Your 9 and 10 year old children get 100% on this quiz!!!! Edit: Sorry, that's a different thread..

KI needs an Intamin!
I once had a dream of a Giga that went over the top of the Eiffel Tower, then had its first drop into the fountains, getting the riders wet, then an overbanked turn above the park entrance. Weird dream.....LOL!! Then, on my own, I thought of a cable lift like MF that took the riders to a virtually level section of track that had a launch that would create ejector air as you went into about a 310 foot drop..... Now I'm weird.LOL!

BavarianBeatle's 2009 Vacation PTR
Thank you all, as always, for your kind replies. It was a wonderful trip and I'm still tired...LOL!! Especially since one of my coworkers put off his vacation for a week so he could cover for me. I'm covering for him this week and paying the price, but it is well worth it. To answer a couple of the questions asked: 1. Cedar Points Crowds on Friday and Sunday were comperable to KI's. We didn't go to the park on Saturday. We saw Transformers, visited my wifes grave, went out to dinner and went to the Sandusky Speedway. 2. I noticed that a couple of the transitions on Phantom's Reverge were a bit unusual, but not uncomfortable in any way. It was my first trip to Kennywood, so I never rode it with the loops, but I figured those transitions were due to the changes made in the ride. There are so many stories from this trip that I left out (like the guy who took his cell phone into the wave pool at Dorney and got it washed out of his hand...LOL!!!). The kids are already talking about going to Kings Dominion (and the new coaster) and Great Adventure for next year's vacation.....

Finally, we went to visit my brother for the Fourth of July. Luckily, he lives about 10 minutes from Hershey Park. Once again it stormed on the way, but cleared up as we arrived. Another rainbow! Hershey was crowded, but we managed to ride all eleven coasters, bringing our count to 40. Overrated, IMO.... I loved Wildcat, probably my favorite coaster in the park! Hershey was a very clean and nice looking park! Super Dooper Looper and Great Bear. It was the Fourth, so I couldn't forget to include the flag...... Me, my brother and the kids at the fireworks (not at the park).... The kids love their cousin..... It was really nice to spend time with my brother! He's 12 years younger than I am, and we haven't spent enough time together over the years...... Then came Sunday, July 5, time to drive home. Ourcoaster count was at 40, so we decided to make one more stop on the way home..... Where else? There's no place like home! We rode Flight Deck, AE, The Racer, FoF, Vortex, BLSC, and Runaway Reptor, bringing our count for the trip to 47. Then.... 48! The first coaster I ever rode! 49! Diamondback! And... FIFTY!!!!! A great finish to a great vacation!!! It was a wonderous time that I will never forget!!! And the parks did not get all of our nickels...LOL!!! I will cherish these memories forever!!! Thanks for reading --Michael

After Kennywood, we left Pittsburgh for Dorney Park. Once again, the drive was very stormy and the skys looked very threatening, but we got there. But the weather cleared and we got to the park that night and got walk on rides on everything!!! On Tuesday night and Wednesday, we rode all 9 of their coasters, bringing our count to 30.... Yes, Thunderhawk has a trim.... They enjoyed Possessed, especially the end of the ride where it stops at the top. And, I actually got soaked on the log flume! One last picture of the park before the next portion of the trip.... Wyatt and I enjoyed Hydra: The Revenge, but I didn't find it to be terribly intense. We also really enjoyed Steel Force and Talon (IMO, a very nice B&M invert)!! I was surprised I had not heard more about it. I like it better than Raptor (but maybe I'm the only one...LOL) . On Thursday, before leaving Allentown, we spent the day in the waterpark. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by Dorney Park. We had a LOT of fun there!!! The crowds were light, the rides were fun, and we got to spend a lot of quality time together!!!

BavarianBeatle's 2009 Vacation PTR
Well, I took the boys on their first long vacation this year. We ended up going to five parks and riding fifty coasters. Needless to say they had a ball! We started out at Cedar Point from June 25 through June 28, where I had a seminar for work. It stormed on the way up, but by the time we got to the hotel the rain had stopped and I was able to get some good pictures. I had classes on Friday and Saturday morning, but we got plenty of quality time at the park and went to a movie and the Sandusky Speedway as well. The kids love Maverick And the beach And, of course , MF! On Sunday, we had company for lunch. And enjoyed a beautiful sunset ride on Maverick on Friday.... The downtime on the rides annoyed them (and me)... But we managed to ride all 17 coasters. Yes, all of them...... After that we spent Monday the 29th at Kennywood. Phantom's Revenge was a lot of fun, Thunderbolt was a nice old coaster with single bar restraints, no seatbelts, and no seat dividers. That brought back a lot of memories! But my favorite coaster at Kennywood was Jack Rabbit. I found Kennywood to be a very nice little park and I enjoyed it very much. As you can see, the kids enjoyed the park, but they found it a bit boring after CP. Then I managed to step on my cell phone charger at the hotel and destroy the end that plugs into the phone. Luckily, there was a Verizon store close by.... The kids thought the hotel was haunted and blamed the "ghosts". LOL!
