  1. The kids and I will be at KI on Friday evening after I get off work. But they have a baseball game on Saturday, so that's out.
  2. The Whip and the Giant Slide would be fine! I would say I wanted the Screechin' Eagle there, but it would break my heart when they put a giant trim on the turnaround. You know where that slide came from, right?
  3. I never went to a prom in my life.... And now, because of my job, I attend a formal event once a year!! I know that I didn't miss anything! On my Senior Prom night, my friends and I got the night off from work and went to KI!!!!
  4. After reading that, I must say that I am reminded of the moment in the movie "Falling Down" when Michael Douglas pulls out the rocket launcher at the construction site and the worker runs away yelling "CHARLIE!!! HEY, CHARLIE......!!!! WE GOT A (expletive) NUT OVER HERE!!!!!!!!!!" But, seriously, comparing CF and its rides to a killer and suggesting that its rides could cause death?!!!!!!? CF should hire lawyers and sue this person for defamation!!!!
  5. As always a great PTR!!! And I must agree that riding The Beast always feels like "coming home"!! As a matter of fact, it was our first ride of the season, as always, and as we went over the top of the first lift hill, I said to my kids, "We're home,...." That started last year after their first CP trip. When we got back to KI and did the first Beast ride, they both said "there's no place like home...." I told them they sounded like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, they told me I was the wicked witch, I said they were the winged monkeys, and it was on from there..... But our tradition now includes "there's no place like home" at the top of the first lift hill on The Beast....
  6. To answer your question, Action Theater still has a floor, it has not been "recycled." And KI did not build DB's trains.
  7. awww.. tell them i said thanks, and i hope to see them (and you) on a few more visits Me too! We are aiming for Friday night and hopefully Sunday for awhile.
  8. My kids and I all noticed that the trim before the helix on The Beast was shorter.
  9. There is no radially downward G force at the top of any swing on the Delerium. So you could fall out on the top of any of the swings. That I don't know. Because it spins you are experiencing multiple forces at the same time, the physics of which are well beyond my knowledge. I've never felt any sense of danger on Delerium, though. I enjoy it very much.
  10. Well, perhaps I was a bit overbroad in what I said... Obviously, Firehawk and flying coasters in general are rides that you would fall out of without restraints. As are rides that deliberately hang you upside down (for example, The Crypt) and Screamin' Squirrel rides. I should have said there is not sufficient "airtime" on today's rides to completely throw a person out of the train. Honestly, I don't believe Maverick could do so either. It would eject a rider from the seat, but not completely out of the train. But this is something that can be debated forever and we will never know the true answer. You are apparently more daring that I am. I can think of more than 3 rides at KI that I would not ride without restraints (Invertigo (hanging before you drop while facing forward), The Crypt, Firehawk, Delerium (I think the first and last few swings could dump you because it isn't going fast enough for the G forces to hold you in), and, of course, EXtreme Skyflyer....LOL.
  11. (Insert game show fail sound) You clearly have not ridden DB or Magnum at CP in the front car of the train. You are literally thrown against the restraints, it seems like more than enough negative G forces to eject you from the ride. I will respond to just a few of the flaws in your logic. 1) I said, "in this day and age." And yet, you attempt to support your position by using as an example Magnum, which was designed over 20 years ago by a company that no longer exists. With all of the technological advances in the last two decades, I don't believe Magnum is an appropriate example. 2) Lets assume an engineering company knew that one of their coasters was capable of ejecting a rider, but built it in that manner anyway. In the unlikely event that anyone was ejected, they would be sued literally out of existence, and the individuals who allowed a coaster to built knowing of the possibility of an ejection of a passenger would be subject to criminal prosecution and prison. 3) My sources are engineers with advanced degress who may or may not have "ridden DB or Magnum at CP in the front car of the train." The point of me relaying this information is to reassure people that there is no need to be afraid of roller coasters. When you are on a coaster you are in one of the safest places in the park.
  12. If you rode it on opening day the third one would be heat. It had to be like 85 or 90 degrees in there. I could barely breathe once we got in. You aren't kidding. I felt sorry for those kids working in there!
  13. I must admit that I was a little worried when I read about the three minute ride time. I feared that they would trim it to death in order to make it take that long. I'm very relieved and happy that they did not!!!
  14. In this day and age, if you meet the height requirements and are seated properly, you need no restraint at all (Unless there is an accident of some sort)! DB, like all present day coasters, is engineered and designed so that is not capable of generating forces that are sufficient to eject a rider from the train.
  15. Sorry to disappoint you all, but DB has yet to enter my top 5. I would put it at number 7 right now, but after only one early season ride, it has the potential to rise! Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the ride, but I just happen to like these better!!! Please don't hate me for this. LOL!! 1. The Beast (My sentimental childhood favorite!!!!) 2. The Voyage 3. Magnum 4. The Raven 5. (tie) MF/ The Racer in its original form....
  16. Most of them worked on The Beast last year... My kids love you guys..... Thanks!!!
  17. Thank you so much! My kids certainly have the ability to entertain people, and they delight in doing that! We thought you were great too!
  18. did i miss this memo?!?! homegirl wants in! lol LOL I love your boys!!! They made my line! lol It drove me nuts that entire line btw too cuz i knew i had known you before that! lol OMG... i am so with you on that one did you happen to be snapping pics today? Thank you. It was great meeting you too. Hope we run into you again!!
  19. If Firehawk looks fresh it is only because it's turning green again.......
  20. My Opening Day Contribution: In regard to Action Theater, "Three dimensions: Vision. Smell. (pause) And what is the third one?"
  21. I'm sorry. That is what I was attempting to refer to in my original post (Man, when I reread that, I realized that I am very tired after a long day!!!). I meant the trim on the drop into the helix. Sorry to mislead you. Note: I have edited my original post.
  22. Well, we skipped the mad rush at the beginning of the day and waited an hour (almost to the minute), in the late afternoon. Got in line at 4:31, and left the gift shop at 5:38.
  23. It was a nice ride and I enjoyed it very much!! The capacity was incredible and as I have said in other threads, it is a fabulous addition to the park!! But, did it live up to the hype? I don't think so.... It was hyped using terms like "the meanest," "dangerous" (curves ahead), and other similar phrases. IMO, it is not "mean" or "dangerous"at all. To the contrary, I found it to be VERY pleasant!!! In my opinion, SoB still holds the title of "the meanesst coaster ever to strike Kings Island." But overall, I enjoyed my first DB ride and had a wonderful opening day with my kids, so, right now, all is good in the world!!!
