  1. That would be a drag to have to wait in that long of a line. I don't think I would be willing.
  2. The Serpent is no longer abandoned. It was moved to Kokomos Family Fun Center in Michigan.
  3. At KI: Wooden: (which would be my top favorites already.) Racer forward Steel: Flight of Fear Flat: Zephyr Of everything: Wooden: Shivering Timbers at Michigan's Adventure Steel: Millennium Force @ CP Flat: Calypso
  4. Agreed times 1000! Invertigo is smooth, provides a good ride, and there are too many rides that are identical to Head Spin.
  5. They need a smaller twister. That could be a very welcome addition to KI. They have SoB--a hyper, The Beast--the longest wooden--terrain, The Racer--racing wooden out and back, and Beastie--a junior double out and back, so a twister could be a very exciting concept. I don't see this happening for quite some time, but you never know. Eventually I speculate that they'll build another, and then there it will be--trim brake and all.
  6. Personally I enjoy Scoob! And by suggesting a change, I know of a certain person by the name of The Beast Rider that you probably causing great stress to. It's one of his favorite rides.
  7. Well keep us up to date on that, will ya.
  8. Bored??? At KI????? HUH????? I have my own little traditions that I NEVER tire of. Let's think of a typical day from 10am to 10pm and I bet we can fill it. I'll make this a light day with very limited lines. Start with The Beast at opening and camp out there for an hour at least. That takes you until 11. Work your way over to The Racer by riding Backlot Stunt Coaster, Shake Rattle and Roll, Vortex, Zephyr, Scrambler, Monster, and then Racer on both sides. That ought to be at least 12:30, which makes it time for lunch. I frequent Stunt Crew Grill. That's 1:00. Ride Drop Tower, Invertigo, Son of Beast, Flight Deck, and Delirium, there's 2:00 with repeats easy. Work back around via Viking Fury, Adventure Express, Racer a couple more times and that's 3:00. Hit X-Base and depending on the day that could be 3:30 or 4 easy. Now ride Flight of Fear again, and that will be 4 almost guaranteed. Cut across and go up Eiffel Tower and then take a look out over and take pictures--there's 4:30. Now go over to Kings Island Railroad and take it to the water park. Spend some quality time with Tasmanian Typhoon, Snowy River Rampage, Down Under Thunder, Bondi Pipeline, Awesome Aussie Twister, Coolangatta Racer, and then repeat a few and that can easily take you until Boomerang Bay closes at 7. Then on your walk back you can take a spin on Avatar, Reptar, Beastie, and then I would be hungry again just in time to eat at Chick-Fil-A. That's about 8:30. I haven't been on Tomb Raider yet so ride that and The Beast a few more times, and there is 9 or 9:15 probably. Then it's time to go for a final spin on Son of Beast and Flight Deck, and then take Racer for a final couple of spins. That would probably be just in time for you to head back to The Beast just in time for "The Beast will temporarily be suspending operation at this time due to the location of tonight's Fireworks Spectacular. After the fireworks we will guarantee all guests an opportunity to ride after we receive a call from management." And that finishes out your day with absolutely no trouble on a LIGHT day. He he! I never even mentioned some rides such as Congo Falls, Wild Thornberry's, or White Water Canyon. On a day with lines, a good quantity of time would be spent in line. How could anyone be bored with so many great things to do. By the way, this was a simulation. I will willingly admit this is not an every-visit pattern. I usually spend way more time running back and forth to The Beast between rides on something else. I'll certainly be there open to close on opening day, and the next weekend on sunday, and the next, next, next, next.... COME ON APRIL 20TH!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. I can actually hear Shaggy saying that! Good imitation!
  10. Kings Island Theater isn't a bad name change. I do believe I like it.

    Racer

That also (in my opinion) defeats the purpose of a racing coaster, but I know it's done and that it could be just a budget issue. Okay maybe I went a little too far, but severely disappointed--yes. Exactly! Although, we did notice that Wikipedia shows "turned around for 2008." Now before we go nuts--yes I know Wikipedia is not a reliable source, it is just interesting. I also find it interesting that it happens to be there and the description on visitkingsisland.com has been changed. Not confirmation by any stretch of the imagination, but it is interesting. I can't take it anymore! I'm going to have to reiterate this. The ride at Kings Island that this post is referring to is The Racer not The Racers.

    Racer

Since that's what C.P. does on occasion with Gemini, that may be what they have in mind. You would only have to staff one side on a light day. I would personally be insulted if they did this since I have a lot of love for Racer, and I have never been to KI to find it down except for the bare bones nights. It is a favorite little tradition of mine, and if they close what is now the forward side, it would be like going to KI and not getting to visit an old friend.
  13. You bet. It would have clearly shown the locked gate and fence in my picture. I'll take the camera next time, and would have this time--forgetful me.
  14. Wow. Beast must be able to defy the laws of physics then. It takes poor little old Magnum to drop 200 feet to hit its 72MPH top speed and Beast manages to do it at the bottom of it's 141 foot first drop.....and thats complete with trim brakes! Not doubting what you saw, I just don't have much faith in the accuracy. - Todd Well said. The operator might think he/she has the ability, but the accuracy of the system is the deciding factor. When I read about the trimless rides, which did exist by the way, it took a trimless ride to get over 70 mph, and that was all the way at the lowest and fastest point of the ride just before the second lift hill. The comment about The Beast poking its way to the second lift just gets my point across to those who didn't understand what I meant. The brakes seem to be turned on more and more every season.
  15. Who cares. We can still discuss it. Don't you ever discuss the weather? Does it change anything by discussion...um...no!
  16. Since when is there ever a time that The Racer is running that the trim is not in use? I have only experienced this once in the past number of seasons. And what everyone overlooked is the simple fact that the suggested idea does not involve any more or less braking. It was a simple suggestion that it be a more gradual brake over a longer period rather than slam them on all at once. That is how the brakes for The Beast were originally designed anyway. As for the collision. The station brakes could have been replaced without replacing all brakes, so obviously there was money available for brakes. Otherwise they would have left the skids in place out on the track...and oh do I wish they would have. I'd love to be able to experience it with skids, or the occasional trimless ride. I should also point out that the main reason for the belly-aches is it seems to brake more and more every season. And more importantly, it is the occasional phenomenal ride (like in the rain, at HH, etc.) that spoils you and makes you realize it when you get a slow ride.
  17. You could have just answered no to the question if you went into private property or not. And I have not read that anyone accused that you did go onto private property. The only comments that were made were questions of where you were, and the possible results if you did happen to go onto private property. But considering your rather defensive comments, and rather long disclaimer; you have given the appearence of someone who is trying to hide something or is guilty of something. Now the question that I have is: if you and your friends took the effort to drive around the park just to get a possible glimpse of off-season activity, why not take a camera with you? Documenting your efforts as well as documenting what you saw and where you saw it from certainly would put to rest the speculation. I did just answer the question--in no uncertain terms for those in this forum that just like to pick fights like yourself. I wasn't yelling, swearing, or any other rude type of etiquette. I simply answered the question, but since you brought it up, I am rather frustrated that a simple post about something that I thought was interesting turned into a three page arguement over ethics.
  18. Hence the reason for my great big long disclaimer!
  19. Okay...I'll put the brakes on this discussion now since you all like brakes so much. (I guess this is why I put a disclaimer on certain previous posts of mine.) In no way did we go through, on or around any kind of fence, ropes, gates, signs or otherwise enter any marked park or private property. When said signs are present, I immediately turn around (just like when Kings Mills Road ends at a covered bridge that says "private property"). There was no apparent means of keeping anyone out of any areas that we were in, otherwise we wouldn't have been in there. I respect the park enough to keep out of areas that are clearly off limits. If the tresspassing point is on up the road, this was not clear when we entered the area behind Great Wolf Lodge. Again, if it was, we wouldn't have gone any farther, and we never even left the car as it was. Furthermore, if I was mistakenly in an off limits area of the park, a simple request to leave would have been more than honored, and would have been accompanied with an appology. Now...as for what I'm feeling at the moment. If the only thing that is going to come out of my posts is arguements as to how ethical or non-ethical my conduct was, I will refrain from posting any news that I may find from this forum. I certainly did not ask to be called into question about where I was or was not, and the only reason I posted in the first place was that I found an interesting sign that I thought you all would be interested to know about. I see that I was mistaken. You would rather argue and piddle about whether or not I was beyond the no tresspassing point of what appeared to be a public road. Give me a large break and a Coke to go with it!
  20. I was in the area around the park and was taking some of the back roads posted in other places. The most interesting thing that we found that you all may be interested to know (for those that don't already) was located behind Great Wolf Lodge. We were back up behind the lodge looking at Top Gun to see any signs of potential paint--none--and noticed something very interesting.... Well, what do ya know. There was a sign just inside the gates that are located back there by the Kings Island Greenhouse that very clearly said "Construction Traffic" and had an arrow pointing toward SoB. And what...might I inquire...would they be constructing if the 09 coaster is just a rumor and there is nothing coming for 08????? Interesting! By the way, if you look in JUST the right place, the lift hills for The Beast can be spotted through the trees at this time of year from the bike trail at Fosters' Park if you go up on the bluff trail! We were extatic!
  21. THE ITALIAN STUNT JOB IS A GREAT RIDE! Its especially good for the kids that are afraid of the big coasters. Not all people are big coaster riders. Its good to have a variety. For the variety thats a GREAT ride!!!!! Thank you for giving us another perfect example. That ride you were referring to (was) called Italian Job: Stunt Track, not Italian Stunt Job, so thank you for your point as well as clearing up one of mine.
  22. Definately! When they get in line it will be for "the swinging coaster" or "this one" or whatever they choose to call it. I've noticed the public doesn't always pay attention to names. If they did, they'd see there's no "s" in Racer.
  23. Here is the current list as I am aware of it. Ground rides I haven't followed The Villain Raging Wolf Bobbs Big Dipper Dominator--Kings Dominion as Dominator--opening in 2008 Double Loop Thunderhawk--Michigan's Adventure as Thunderhawk--opening in 2008 Beaver Land Mine Ride Head Spin Steel Venom--Dorney Park as Voo Doo--opening in 2008 X-Flight--Kings Island as Firehawk--opened in 2007 Those that aren't marked are in jeopardy.
  24. i totally agree with your statement. we cannot allow safety devices to be ignored for the sake of an award. i would hope an organization like ace would take a fresh look at the message they're sending. i understand what you are saying but i also can see ace's view like moderonizing a roller coaster(such as adding seat belts) takes away from the classicness so i am on both sides Thank you, and I couldn't have said it better myself. I, however, am on only one side...as I rather like limited restraints. But I only speak for me, not the parks, or from insurance or safety perspectives...etc.
  25. R.L. Stine would be happy to know that you are! I wish someone could confirm why they were on, though. I've noticed the two lights from the parking lot look like eyes from the back of the park. I think they should put red colored bulbs in it to make it look even more spooky! You know...more Beastlike!
