  1. Thank you!!!!!! And even on Voyage, you come back in to the station and what does everyone do? Cheer. There certainly is no "oh that was too fast, you ought to slow it down." Just CHEER!!!
  2. Rivertown Fury, Kings Valley Splashdown, Beast Valley, and The Beast: Gone Steel all have nice rings to them. Because of what Cedar Fair did to it, I think calling it Villain would be a nice tribute.
  3. ...And there certainly are days when I wish I had upstop wheels on my Camaro. Either way, I go as fast as the cops and Physics will allow me to go, and not a shade slower.
  4. Okay...I think if you add the "lot of bull" to these, that's your funniest combination of puns yet! (I'm being serious by the way.) What will you say next I wonder?
  5. I never miss wooden coasters. It sounds like a fun coaster from what I read, though if you are saying it's trimmed (and it sounds that way to me) it probably won't make my top ten. Either way, still worth a shot. ...Maybe I'm being too judgemental. After all, The Racer is unfortunately trimmed now, and it still is almost in my top ten. I'll just keep an open mind. Thanks for the heads up, Terpy!
  6. Sorry about your luck. I KNOW it's busy then.
  7. He just voiced his opinion. Now I will once again voice mine briefly. Trim brakes to save on maintenance is a terrible way to run an amusement park. There, I said it, I mean it, I'm not going to change my mind, and sadly, likely neither will they. I can still complain when I see world class coasters being trimmed to death. I still enjoy them all every time, but the possibilities make me sick.
  8. Well, I've never seen them load only every other arm, as that would be just as much of a pain. However I've seen them quite frequently loading the bottom two and the top two if there is not a lengthy line. They have used all the arms frequently, though. It isn't an every time thing.
  9. I'm also planning to go later this summer. Are the reviews for Renegade any better this season? Also, how does High Roller rank in terms of the good ole classic coasters? And equally important, is it trimmed?
  10. There are some Sundays that I've noticed it takes a while for the crowds to filter in, leading to a good walk-on morning. There I go again, giving away secrets.
  11. So therein lies your answer...no!
  12. There is one of the few belly-aches that I have about Holiday World. It annoys the crap out of me. I've never seen them only run one train on Voyage though, or Legend actually, but I have on Raven. If two trains are possible to run, they ought to run!
  13. As to the "testing video" in question. Here is the link to the youtube video which has NO SKID BRAKES going into the helix. Please forgive me for not waiting for the rest of the video to load, but I believe the other three sets of brakes are there, BUT you will notice that there are voices on this video and therefore means there WERE people on The Beast at some point with no brakes on the helix! Dispute that!!!!! This is also the video that everyone was amazed when you get to the helix to find that it wasn't tunneled. It should be an interesting watch providing you have a computer that is faster than mine. Also, when you watch and use the argument that it looks no faster then than today, keep in mind that The Beast wasn't broken in yet. Undoubtedly it moved too fast for KI's taste which is why they were added to the helix, but still, imagine the crazy rides it would have produced for as long as they would let it live (somewhat). Oh, for a trimless ride... I hope this will work. It was the URL that was there when I watched it. Confirmed...works!
  14. I wouldn't get your hopes up! I was extatic over getting to go to the 275' platform on Tuesday, let alone getting to go to the 50' platform. Don't count on it. As for staffing, why did it take four employees when one for the tower and one for the elevator works fine for the 265'?
  15. Well quit giving away the system of how to find a good walk-on day, would ya!
  16. Of course. They don't let any of them go fast enough. Rant ended.
  17. A few of them are. Though the two frizbees certainly don't seem to be.
  18. Terpy, you make me SO envious getting to ride The Racer on its opening day. I can come nowhere close! But...at least I broke in properly at Kings Island on The Beast back in the early 2000s, and I SO regret not going sooner for reasons that I'll just let lie in the open sun forevermore dreaming of what could have been. First ride of the day: Always The Beast and usually stay there for a while. Then ride Backlot before the line gets too long and work my way to The Racer. Usually from there to Son of Beast, but it depends on who is along and what mood they're in. Last ride of the night: Just like the first ride, the last ride is The Beast as well. Even if we have to run back there to catch it. Preferably, the last train of the night.
  19. I understand there are other rides that were called Tomb Raider that have been renamed The Crypt, but isn't KI's the only model of its kind?
  20. When, and HOW were you so friekin' lucky. Any time I ride it, it seems that they slam the brakes on to almost a crawl. Or even stop it in the case of Tuesday, though I'm not implying that one time was intended. Plus, that's not quite possible, because there is a small magnetic brake up there that undoubtedly did a little damage, but I'd take what I could get. I'd love to know how you got to skip the trim. YLB. Not that I'm defending Cedar Point, and on that point I must be clear, but to whoever brought up the issue of Mean Streak turning back some of the trims. Those also are not magnetic. And to another post, there could not have been a magnetic brake on Maverick last season or I would have noticed that much braking. Unless of course it was much, MUCH less of a brake. I'm not talking about the brake right before the second launch. There is a magnetic brake just out of the tunnel and around the corner on the way up the hill that puts a great big yank on the train on its way past. There was no yank there last season, and the second part of the ride was much faster. And....wouldn't it be easier to just dial the launch down than stick a trim immediately following the launch? As to Mantis, I must have been on it during the portion of the season that they turned off the trim, as I certainly would have noticed that, being of the "Forums Against Ridiculous Trims" or "FART" ilk!
  21. I don't black out, but I do get little red stars that come over my eyes. Phantom's Revenge at Kennywood at the bottom of the second drop usually does that to me. I think that's the only one not on the list that I'd add to it.
  22. I've never been to Beech Bend, so I'm of absolutely no help there. Holiday World is a blast, especially with free unlimited soft drinks at your disposal. Also, unlike what you're used to, HW lets their coasters move. Dollywood is a lot of fun, and half the time there could be spent shopping considering all of the stores they have. Thunderhead rocks (they too let their wooden coaster move) and Tennessee Tornado is one of the best looping coasters I've ever been on. Some will think I'm nuts, but the first loop is amazing, and it's a very smooth and self-themed ride due to the mountains. I also think it has the best placed tunnel in the world, but I won't say why. Mystery Mine, well...you make your mind up. I found that it was a rough, jerky, trim braked up half-a coaster with an unbelievable ending. (The only part of the ride I love.) It's very over-rated in my opinion, probably due to the awesome theming and the angle of the drops. The lift hills are neat too. For me, it's a once-a-trip coaster since it seems to produce ridiculously long lines.
  23. The more padding the better, I certainly agree with that one. I have three questions for you, Terpy. 1. What is an ilk? 2. Why is potential liability, ride comfort, and guest complaints not an issue at Holiday World where they actually let their coasters move? Even Voyage is running free of trims this year. Being as it's number 1 on the planet, and Raven and Legend are also top coasters I think that it won't really matter in the end whether the train is slowed to a crawl in the middle and whether every last hill is trimmed to death. If you'd ridden Holiday World's coasters, you'd immediately recognize a difference in intensity from those verses those at above mentioned two parks that are trimmed to an insane level. If maintenance does what it's supposed to do, it should stay smooth regardless of the speed of the coaster (or the forces), and again see Raven, Legend, and Voyage. 3. Since when is it against terms of service for anyone to discuss a thing whether or not it will change anything? I've seen numerous posts whining about The Crypt, for reasons I still don't quite understand. As far as I know, whether or not it will do anything, we can still discuss it. If you don't want to discuss it, ignore the topic.
  24. At least that's something. And the members of ACE have a hand in pretty much anything coaster-related simply because the club is extremely large, as someone pointed out.
  25. Speaking as someone who has never ridden it...so I can't vouch for the ride itself. Tearing down any ride, and especially a wooden coaster, makes me sad. I would have loved a chance to experience it, and I would still ride it if given the opportunity.
