  1. Terpy being sarcastic, who would have thought. My elementary experience was with a notoriously mean teacher who would make us write multiplication tables from 3 x 3 all the way to 9 x 9 various times. The top punishment of the class was 100 times a piece. (It took approximately 4 hours.) That was a nice copy and paste job. It's easy to count the number of times you hit the "c" button, but would you have bothered if you had to write it? Why bother to type it? It's a good word, yes, but what is the point? Anyway... That was a very technically worded answer. While I like that, wouldn't "the inserts beef it up" have sufficed. (Sorry, I couldn't resist, and maybe I should have.)
  2. This is true. I am not a fan of that either. It is too restricting and not enough natural movement during the course of the ride. Not only this, but it adds to the pain factor, which then adds to the feeling of roughness, which adds to negative attention to said roughness, which adds to KI's maintenance deptartment's insistance on...oops, you've already seen my posts. I'll not let my ranting get in the way (this time). I will complement KI on something though. The new terrible seat dividers from PTC (or if not PTC, wherever they come from) that are hard foam and hollow in the middle (ride Holiday World's coasters for an example) make you very sore after a few rides. So far, KI has covered over all of their new ones, or at least they feel like the same ones only with material around the outside. BLESS YOU KI!! Please keep it that way! And it certainly isn't just at KI, as you can find the hard, unpadded, uncomfortable seats and especially seat dividers all over the place at other parks. When I build my own coaster, I think I'll install couch cusions with lap bars that are one big pillow wrapped around a solid center. What do you think?
  3. Just pull out the old Beastie signs and stick them back up. You couldn't ask for a more perfect name for a kiddie coaster anyway. Which is exactly why I still call it that!
  4. I hope my paycheck is on time!!! It sounds like a blast. Also, I don't mind saying that contrary to the other posters, I'm very pleased to hear about the ERT. I agree completely with having ERT on Invertigo, simply because even though I like it, I won't ride it if it's anything much past a two or three train wait. So kudos to the planners!! As far as Racer ERT, humph to those who don't like it, as it's the best ride in the park IMO as long as you ride in the right spot! After all, remember that it used to be THE attraction. As a thought question though, both sides or one? ...desperately trying not to ask a second question, but will refrain.
  5. I hope for the best on this one, because I loved Cypress Gardens. Starliner was amazing, and Triple Hurricane was a blast for a junior coaster.
  6. I'm not sure it's possible to achieve such a thing.
  7. I'd have them if I could find them. I've piddled with them before, but I can't find one of my own. (Without ordering online that is.) As for the model...since it's a model, couldn't he have at least disabled the brake??????
  8. My last ride on the Electric Rainbow was very reasonable in length. It was up for about 1-2 rotations, and then went back down. We were probably on it for about 20min (seemed like an hour) the last time I rode it at LeSourdsville. I know what you mean. I'm glad that this is my only bad memory for LL.
  9. For the same reason you don't have to be around since the real Eiffel Tower was built to know that it is an example of classic architecture. And why in the world does it make any difference?
  10. A statement that would apply to almost all trains, both in the seats and lapbars. I agree. Coasters would cause far less pain, and therefore be able to run more wildly if the seats and lapbars had padding.
  11. Glad to see that it will be back in operation, but it's a little scary to know that all it takes is a spec of dirt to create such a mess. Now the rumors will fly. Did you hear that the ride stopped upside down because of a spec of dirt and someone fell out and got killed? How I love to hear ignorant people when they think they know what they are talking about and SO don't.
  12. I've got an invisible fortune that says there will be chatter around the ride from this point forward..."hey, did you hear about someone that got killed on this?" We've all heard the rumors. People just love to hear themselves talk I think, just to appear to have a clue.
  13. Perhaps, but how often do you hear of accidents happening on said old rickety rides? On the other hand, I can think of twice that I've ridden carnival rides and had a safety cable fall off and had to be put back on. I've also seen things that make me question an entire operation, but yet I still ride every year.
  14. In case you missed the fun and safety guide instructions out front, the Son of Beast is a high speed, forceful, turbulent roller coaster ride with quick turns and sudden drops. People with existing or prior back, neck, or bone problems, recent surgery or illness, pregnancy, high blood pressure, heart condition or other medical conditions should refrain from riding the Son of Beast. Please be aware of the recommendations and restrictions for this ride, and if you have any questions, please contact a ride attendant.
  15. Well thank you Dr. Bingaman! Oh, wait a minute, I'm not in Physics class about to fall asleep, but on coaster forum. Back to "braking" news...
  16. Bless this reporter for the nice "zap" for KI. "If you won't give us info, I'll look it up myself." I love it! At least we finally have some information! By the way, I love the "I can see clearly now, the crane has gone." Can we say, a classic Terpy-ism?
  17. That sounds familiar. There was once an argument between a little boy and his dad on Eiffel Tower. The boy said "that's Avatar" (pointing to...Avatar believe it or not) and the dad argued for ten minutes "those are all kiddy rides." Good grief. The best contribution as of late was being in line for The Beast. Did you know that The Beast is the longest, fastest, and tallest wooden coaster, and that KI is building the longest steel coaster with an underwater stop?
  18. I for one, REALLY appreciate the attention they pay to their trash cans. It's nice when you have to throw something away to be able to just look around (or look 2 feet) and see just what you need a few steps away.
  19. Something that aggravates me to an ultimate level when traveling behind said morons.
  20. And all of that rain sure put the coasters in a good mood for the rest of the day. I love what water does to them, especially the wooden coasters. Therein lies the reason that they loose so much business due to the rain policy on really rainy days.
  21. It's a good aside. I often try to take this stance about such things. On July 4th it worked. There were full trains on things and all of the wooden coasters were running very well after all the rain that morning. There was even a lucky score on SOB with almost no braking at the mid-course. I'll take what I can get, but I wish they'd let it run that way all the time.
  22. I've even seen some of the ride ops at certain coasters cleaning up trash in non-hazardous areas around the coasters.
  23. Good point. I was implying that it would bother me more because I would be riding it more than the other rides, but in hindsight, it probably would not. Agreed. I'm doing that as we speak.
  24. I love your idea!!! All night, too. Not a single minute where they stop for an intermission or something!!!!! Sounds like a BLAST! I agree, but not too cold, or then you freeze. It was nice last year after the rain. The track was still wet, slight crisp to the air, and The Beast flew through the track! Ahhh, pure bliss! The rain has that effect on his son as well. You really don't even notice the roughness of the Rose Bowl so much after the rain. But...I'm biased anyway, as I've learned to appreciate the rough spots because they are untrimmed...and fast!
  25. Though I can't remember the last fourth of July that it didn't at least threaten to rain.
