  1. I let curiosity get the best of me so I looked up on bing the land where the campground used to be. http://binged.it/xqoCrP If you look at the link I put CF could easily put another campground there. I'm not sure how expensive it is to build a campground, but I assume it's not terrible.
  2. Really enjoying all the pictures! Love seeing the pics from before my time.
  3. Hasn't that been the layout they have been using for awhile? Plus it's not the same layout as KI, KD, CW, Knotts, or Soak City Also they updated http://www.knotts.com/, http://www.canadaswonderland.com/, http://www.kingsdominion.com/, and http://www.soakcitycp.com/ Edit: CP just showed up for me.
  4. It's the little grassy area between the lazy river and some slides. See http://binged.it/xZEaEt
  5. I'm running on Version 9.0.1 on Vista as well. Go to your Firefox tab go to options, then click options, then go to the advanced tab and go browsing and see if the "check my spelling" box is checked. If it's checked try unchecking it, then saving, then rechecking it.
  6. I have Firefox too, but mine is working just fine. Weird. Maybe try clearing your cache????
  7. It would be kinda neat if they would of kept that compass painted. When did they finally tar/paint over it.
  8. Not only that, but underneath the picture he refers to Paramount's Kings Dominion. He should have done a little more research before writing this article.
  9. Every other ride simply lists the ride's name, past name(s), and opening year. The Crypt is the only ride in the park whose online page references its "popularity..." And they did it twice! Sort of sounds like an inside joke, doesn't it? This could also be a marketing strategy. Think about it, if someone tells you a ride is the most popular in the park wouldn't you want to ride it? In all honesty I loved TR:TR but now it's been driven into the ground. The only reason to ride it at this point is to be out of the sun. I think the park is just trying to get people on it so it looks like people ride it. I always hear so much disappointment from park guests about that ride. I myself have a feeling that it's time is coming. If not this year maybe next. Just my two cents,
  10. The flags at the corners of the tower are still there. It's just a basic white flag with the KI logo on it. The flags in front of the fountains were added 2 years ago I believe.
  11. standbyme I have been meaning to comment on this thread for awhile, but I have been moving and was just able to catch up on the entire thread today. The pictures your took are truly amazing. I love seeing what the park looked like in 1972. I was born in 1990 so I never really got to see the park like that. It is really cool how you took the time to try to find the exact point where the original was taken. It just shows how much the park has changed. I really appreciate the time it took you to do all this. It was awesome. -Nick
  12. Now I know that we all know how well Cedar Fair does at themeing, but we also have to keep in mind that come January we will basically have a brand new leadership team for CF. A lot of that team has had background in other theme parks like Disney and Paramount.(back when they cared a tiny more) Mr. Ouimet has had a lot to do with Disney and he could be the one person that changes the game. He could believe that theme has a lot to do with a park like Kings Island, but who knows only time will really tell. The Crypt could really be saved if they took a little more time themeing it and trying to work out a longer ride program. I'm not talking about one that does ten flips or anything. Heck I would be happy for one that just does four or so. It's not really the ride that sucks; it's the quality of that ride we are given and the ride experience given with it.
  13. If anyone's wondering KI's blue ice cream mix actually comes from Trauth Dairy in Newport. It comes in gallon jugs.
  14. I don't know why, but that just made me laugh so much. I don't know whether it was made to funny or not. Brings a whole new meaning to Escape from Dino Isle.
  15. This has been one of the BEST off-season threads. Thanks for taking the time everyday to post those awesome pictures!
  16. Seeing WindSeeker's bright and colorful lighting package makes me wish they updated all the ride lighting and building lighting in Coney Mall. It would give the whole area a real carnival/fair feel. That's what it should be like.
  17. This picture looks old. Look how dark the wood is and you can somewhat see the loop. You can also tell is a little older just from all the trees, there are not that many back there anymore.
  18. There is an interesting article about SOB on cincinnati.com. Here's the link.

  20. I live in Lebanon, but was in Mason just a bit ago. Gas was $3.94. It was $3.89 in Kings Mills and $3.91 in Lebanon. This is out of control.
  21. Very interesting post. It was very informative and I enjoyed reading it. Thanks for posting that.
  22. That's what I was kinda thinking too. Just make the old exit the new entrance and exit. I really don't think there will be enough room to keep the pre-existing entrance where it is.
  23. This is where there putting it?? From Twitter
  24. I hope to see a new 3D ride in place of spongebob. Especially since that will be an area of focus for the off-season. Spongebob is getting really old.
