I think they should leave the theme alone. Not just because I already love this theme, but because all of PKI's recent attempts at theming fall apart in a matter of months. FOF's theming, through the miracle of heaven it seems, has lasted 10 years now, while IJST's has been all but destroyed in less than 4 months. If PKI were to replace all the theming on FOF, you know as well as I do that it would be cheap and easily breakable.

Actually the ride lasts, at most, 3 minutes, depending on how soon you launch out of the fake station. I've timed it myself after 13 rides on it, and there are POV videos that prove this too.

Beast should drop to a 4. It's not that intense. The most intense part is the helix tunnel, and that isn't that bad. I don't really think Flight of Fear is worthy of a 5 either. And by the way, the rating has nothing to do with how good the ride is compared to the others in the park.

Racer (Forwards)...backwards is a twist on the simple design, but forwards has no charm left in it with only hill after hill. Plus when I ride it, it gives me a beating that even SoB has failed to top.
-
Smurfs' Enchanted Voyage, then after the anger cleared from the replacement, Phantom Theater.

Beast has a better layout and that cool feeling of isolation, not that feeling that you just received a savage beating. (Side Note: I, myself, have been fortunate and have never gotten the "sob treatment," I'm just speaking for the community in general.)

There are actually only a few things wrong with FoF's theming as of now, one of which nobody but me really noticed anyways. The one most people would notice is the sound in the station as the train is being prepared for launch; that sound that's like a futuristic engine reving up. It has been replaced with something else though, that does play every once in a while. Associates call them the "Voice of Doom anouncements." Creepy recorded spiels that play for the people in the train. ("So, you believe that you are studying us. Then kindly explain why you are the ones trapped in your seats"..."Well now, isn't this a pleasant sight. And what happens when the observer becomes the observered. And the collector becomes, the Specimen"..."We have enjoyed our brief visit to your charming little world, and now, if you're quite ready, it's time for you to visit ours"..."Welcome aboard travellers. We promised you escape from the struggles and hardships of the work-a-day world. And what escape could be more final, than oblivion"..."So, you have accepted our invitation to visit our world..excellent. How precious is the human spirit. How optimistic. How...naive.") The one that most people don't notice is the background noise they played in the hangar. It kind of sounded like the noise they play in the saucer, except less alien, and more like laboratory experiments going on. Most guests wouldn't even know about this sound because of the preshow playing, so no big loss. There was also this little lazer light that shined out of the front of the saucer onto the far wall of the hangar during parts of the show, but again, this was something that most people never noticed anyway. Other than this Very minor stuff, and the fog I guess, nothing is really wrong with FoF's theming. We have to give the park some credit for fixing some of the lights inside the ride itself so that it does have more of an outer space feel to it.

You guys suck? That seems highly questionable since "suck" is still considered cursing by alot of people. Amazing how they got away with that, especially since a guest heard an associate on another ride say that word, and complained about it.

Puppy Power!!! No, just kidding, I hated that little runt Scrappy. Shaggy is the best.

TRTR FOF IJST AE

That doesn't make any sense. If we lose some lousy records, the park gradually falls apart and dies. Riiiiight. If that was the case, Cedar Point would have closed down years ago. Every time they break a new record, another park beats it within a year. How long did Millenium Force keep its record, a few weeks? Besides, PKI doesn't care about gigantic record-breakers anymore. They want rides with theming and effects now (good for them ). A freakin' height record shouldn't concern them anymore.

They parked that red mini out on the lawn a day or two before media day...is it going to stay there like Lara's jeep for TRTR, or was that only for media day?

TRTR definitely has the best theming (even though its story is extremely confusing to your average guest), followed by FoF, which does have the best, if slightly odd and corny, story. Italian Job has some great effects, but the ride has no real story behind it, so it's going to have to take third place. Top Gun would be sitting on fourth place if it still had all of the aircraft carrier theming, but since it doesn't, it's moved down to seventh place in my opinion. Fourth place now belongs to SDatHC. That ride truly makes you feel like you're in the cartoon that was so repetitious in its formula that there was no conceivable reason why it should have succeeded so well with viewers. Fifth and sixth place are nearly a tie with Beast and SoB. Both have the similar implied theme of being chased out in the wilderness by the original/offspring creature. Beast gets fifth, though, thanks to its cool station design. Reptar takes eighth, despite the fact that I thought that particular episode of Rugrats sucked. How do you make a satire of Godzilla not funny? I'm sticking to the list, but if Wild Thornberries River Adventure was on it, it would be placed right before Reptar. Ninth is Drop Zone with its skydiving theme. Tenth and eleventh are also pretty much a tie with Vortex and Racer. Neither one really has a theme. Vortex will take tenth, though, because of its VERY lightly implied theme of twisting and turning out of a giant robot's grip, which is only based on its old logo. Finally, Face/Off takes last place because of its disappointing zero theming. It takes the name of a Paramount movie, and a good one in my opinion, and does nothing with it; not even a poster from the movie like what Top Gun does. All it does is play on the words with its seating arrangement.

With the new extended time spent in the chopper scene, the ride, at most, lasts 1 min. 20 seconds.
-
Rivertown technically starts on that small path next to Vortex, about halfway down it. Italian Job is actually right next to the border. Yeah, most of the ride itself is sitting in Coney, but it's the location of the entrance that makes all the difference, and the entrance is far enough down the path for all of us nerds to know that it's Rivertown property.
-
Rivertown...it's got a classic woodie, a great themed flat ride, a great themed steel coaster, the train for all ages, and a super soaking water ride. And it's got a nice little arcade. Rivertown is all about variety. Coney is a close second.
-
I also have to say that Beast is the most overrated. It's mostly flat; with only one major drop that isn't from a lift hill. The tunnels are always good, but that's not enough to make it a great ride. Aside from the tunnels, the only thing Beast has is atmosphere, a.k.a. the seclusion. That's a nice natural theming, but it definitely can't beat choppers armed with mini-guns. Plus, if they ever took the woods around Beast out, that ride would have nothing.

The crowds were a little less than what you'd expect on your average saturday. I think of TRTR and FOF as my crowd thermometers. Each had lines that reached over an hour, and since they usually have 1.5-2 hour lines on saturdays, I gather that the park capacity wasn't as high as usual. It might be less this coming weekend with the chance of rain.

Italian Job stunt track, because it's like the little cousin of Mummy....followed closely by TRTR.

Okay, seriously, if we got a Napoleon Dynamite movie in AfxT, you know as well as I do that the seats wouldn't move. Why would they have to. There's no action. The only reason the seats would move is when you bounce along with Napoleon's dance routine...and maybe a slight jolt when a cow gets its face blown off. And while I'm on the topic, I'd shoot myself before seeing a ND 3D movie. It was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. (My 5 worst films ever made: Babe: Pig in the City, Son of the Mask, Napoleon Dynamite, The Blair Witch Project, and Hulk)

I've actually found that the further back in the train you sit, the lesser the head bumps. Front seat gives the typical bumpy experience you'd probably expect from it, but last seat is very smooth.

PKI Hits the Nail Right on the Head!
Alien Seed replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I could not agree more. This is exactly the ride I have been hoping for. In my mind, it's still nowhere near the achievements of Revenge of the Mummy, but it's still an amazing ride. I am a severe themed ride lover (many of you should know this by now) and this ride has entered into my most favorites list, alongside Mummy, Tomb Raider: The Ride and Spiderman. -
When I say higher and faster, I'm actually referring to them in conjunction with each other. Of course coasters can technically get higher..(put one on a skyscraper and you've accomplished that). What I mean is height for the sake of speed. I don't think coasters can get much faster than 120 mph, or whatever Kingda Ka is. Your average person won't be able to handle much more than that. I know I was practically in shock after riding Top Thrill Dragster. I could never imagine coasters going that fast. Now, after having ridden it, I definitely feel that that range of speed is pushing the limits of safety and comfort, and that coasters shouldn't, and probably won't get much faster than that.
