I hope they fix it. That was the coolest effect on the ride.

SFOT Re-Doing Texas Giant
Aaron88stang replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
will there be any wood on top of the steel rails or wheel the wheels be in direct contact with the steel rails? If there is even one or two layers of wood over the steel I can see this still be considered as a Woodie, but if it is wheel on the steel rails as they are then there is no argument. -
So what's up with the missing fog screen? Is it gone for good?

Holiday World I-Phone App
Aaron88stang replied to Colonel_SoB_fan's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I got it yesterday. It is pretty cool. I can not really think of anything else I would want out of it. I am looking forward to actually trying it out in the park. -
I really hope that FD is staying put. It is such an under rated ride. Please CF and KI slap a coat of paint on it and let it keep providing thrills for many years.

Record breaker or not, it will come down to money as it always does in business. Cedar Fair may not be able to afford to fix it in its current state. Plus if attendance is not impacted this season without SOB, then why bother to spend money to fix it?

Awesome. This looks like a fun ride. Hopefully I can finally make a trip up to Cedar Point sometime and give it a try. -

Is there any word yet one way or the other if it opened this morning? -
Coverage from Will Koch's funeral
Aaron88stang replied to Shaggy's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I have not commented on here yet regarding Will's death. There is not much else to say that has not already been said, but for someone who I had only talked to in passing and only knew through his park, Will's death really shook me. I have been down every since I heard of his passing. It is hard to believe that someone so young that has done so much for others is now gone. I mourn his loss like he was a close friend. I really admired Will Koch for not only all he accomplished, but for the man he was. Hopefully we can all learn to be a little like him. Rest in Peace Will. -
No idea how it compares, but HW Facebook had the following quote in a recent post: "Saturday night, the Beachcombers entertained about 650 coaster enthusiasts from all over the country" Thanks. I had not seen that quote. I have no idea what the turn out normally is, but I don't remember the food line being that long, nor people having to overflow to the second shelter to eat the past two years.

I too thought Pat's speech was very touching. This event gets better every year and I really don't think we could have been treated better if we were several hundred members of the Kochs family. By the way, did anyone happen to get a total of the number of people that attended this year and how this compares to previous years? It seemed like there was a pretty significant increase to me.

I got the call yesterday. I was in a meeting at work so I let it go to voice mail. I was wondering who the heck was calling me from Mason until I listened to the message.

That would be a brilliant move if they can pull it off. Even better would be an actual episode that takes place at the park. It would not be too far fetched to have a story revolving around doing a performance at KI.

How much longer will KI's coasters/major rides last?
Aaron88stang replied to McSalsa's topic in KI Polls
So were they painting it mid season there? parts of it look fresh while the rest looks terrible. -
Hey guys and gals. Making my first trip to SFOG Sunday. I am sure I will be hitting all the coasters, but what else is a must do? Any tips on rides, shows or food would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would much rather have Vampire's original trains. http://rcdb.com/784.htm?p=1212 Then FD could be repainted/themed to be the Return of The Bat.

I remember that old game you are talking about by Disney. I think it was just called Coaster. I lost a whole summer to that one and that was before I was really even into coasters that much. I remember that It had several people that would ride after you built your coaster and rate it. It was very hard to get them all to like it becuase they all had diffetent likes and dislikes. Fun times.

They are for the Starlight Spectacular, being discussed here: http://www.KICentral...=1entry375805 ah, that makes sense.

I noticed those on the web cam the other day, but was not sure they were footings. I wonder what they could be for...

Were the phrases "danger zone" and "take my breath away" used intentionally in reference to Top Gun or was it just a coincidence?

At least they are still playing the Indiana Jones music over at the AE station.

OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
Aaron88stang replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Back to my original statement. I believe the lifthill is a marvel. It is the tallest wooden structure in the world and I am unaware of any structural problems and or other issues with that part of the ride. My suggestion was to build a new attraction that reuses this part of SOB. I don't really care anything for the rest of the ride so do what ever you want with that, particularly the rose bowl which seems to be the main problem area. My point was that if this were to happen, Kings Island would legitimately have a new attraction that keeps the best part (in my opinion) of the current ride which would in turn save them money. There for, this argument of sinking too much into SOB would not hold water because it would be a new attraction. I'm thinking Gravity Group could build a pretty awesome ride reusing the lift/drop and building the rest as a steel structure wood track like Voyage. Just my opnion of course. -

some headlight stickers would really help. Maybe they will add them at some point. -

the ride in its entirety is not the marvel, just the lift hill and drop. -

How about a new ride that just happens to re-use the SOB lift hill/drop, station and queue? Could we then look at it as a new attraction that happens to save a large amount of money by re-using these things and not just additional cost dumped into fixing SOB? That drop is really the only thing I enjoy about SOB in its current state and it would be a crime to destroy that structure. It is beautiful and an engineering marvel.
