I'll be honest, while Storm Chaser was pretty good, it wasn't that overly good for me. The portion from the first drop up to the 2nd roll was fine, but the double-ups and downs and the final helix section was very awkward in terms of the forces. I felt like on one of those mechanical bulls, and not in a good way. Personally, for steel coasters at KK, I give the edge to Lightning Run. I think I would have liked T3 better if it weren't for that lap bar cutting of the circulation from my thighs and lower. Some of the elements felt shaped in a weird way where it kind of has these pulses of weird forces throughout. I did enjoy the layout overall and it was way smoother than I expected. Thunder Run, however, is the best coaster there to me, hands down. Also, whoever designed the paths on the water park side of the bridge (including placing T3, RRR, Skycatcher, and SC way out by themselves plus the way the bridge interacts with the paths) must have been on some serious drugs and boos.

I would probably suggest you at least secure the purse somewhat as there are spots where the boats rock enough to let a good amount of water in.

I've brought backpacks on to WWC before, so I imagine a purse would be alright.

What will put Kings Island above Cedar Point?
silver2005 replied to Hunterhughes1997's topic in Kings Island
Just to explain why its absurd to do so, as I said, its cherry picking. Those who are asking people to compare that way because in their mind CP is better are trying too win their argument by default because CP has more coasters than KI. Just as more size, speed or inversions aren't the guarantee a good coaster, more coasters doesn't automatically make a park better by itself. Yes, some people do go by that to favor parks over one another, but this thread is a discussion about the parks as a whole. Even if you go down the list ride by ride, you're going to get differing opinions. Overall, if you like CP over KI, fine. If its KI over CP, fine. If you like or don't like both parks equally, fine. If the parks are doing their job in keeping you entertained, then shouldn't that be all that matters? BTW, I would love to go over my 2 favorite parks that I've visited, Dollywood and Hersheypark, and explain why I like them more than CP and KI, but that's a rant for another day. -

^Care to define those 'classes'? Ever heard of this thing called nuance? How about a post more than 2 fragments. -

What will put Kings Island above Cedar Point?

^^1. Vortex and Corkscrew are both custom Arrow loopers and I haven't ridden Rougarou yet (I have ridden it as Mantis) 2. I compared DB to both MF and Magnum (I like DB over both, better forces than MF, smoother and better trains than Magnum). 3. I compared Racer to Blue Streak and Gemini and I liked all about the same Please read my entire post. Also, why in your opinion aren't they comparable? Just so we're clear, you're not going to change my mind on the issue. I am genuinely interested in this discussion because I don't get why people have CP in such higher regard than KI. I hear it all the time. That notion isn't so apparent to me. I also like to see how people differ in mindsets and opinions (a reason I'm a psych major at UC). -

^^^1. That seems like cherry picking 2. Giving you the benefit of the doubt in your choice of argument, (this is entirely my opinion, which, you can have your opinion and we'll agree to disagree) in a lot of those head to head's, I have KI's side being better (Banshee over Raptor, Vortex by a mile over Corkscrew, Bat over Iron Dragon) . CP has a bit more variety on the steel front for sure, but in terms of ride quality, they're about even. If you want me really nit picking, I'd say for CP, Corkscrew isn't exactly the most comfortable coaster in the world and Iron Dragon is pretty tame (fun, but tame), and aside from a decent drop by its lake, and a decent finale, CCMR doesn't do much for me (which is a closer comparison to AE than Gemini). I'll give CP Maverick as a bit of an edge and I do prefer Wicked Twister to Invertigo. I'd also pit Diamondback against both MF and Magnum, which, I find DB superior to both (better forces than MF and smoother and better trains than Magnum). I'd also pit Racer to both Blue Streak and Gemini. I kind of like them about the same. I'd also pit Flight of Fear against TTD. TTD is a 2 trick pony, which, its tricks are awesome, but Flight of Fear is just intense from start to finish. One is meant to induce acrophobia while the other induces claustrophobia. I find Firehawk pretty enjoyable. I'll admit I haven't ridden Gatekeeper, Rougarou with the current trains, or Valravn so I'll reserve judgement on them until I ride them (I try not to judge coasters until I've ridden them). KI beats CP in wood coasters, no question. Blue Steak is pretty good (as said, I like it about the same as Racer), but for KI- Racer, Woodstock Express and Beast are all better than Mean Streak 3. If you're limiting your argument to just coasters, then you're missing a lot (I refer you to my first point in this post) -

This question is coming from someone not apt in knowledge of engineering, but before we all jump on architectural differences between the two, what's to stop GCI from doing things RMC does or vice versa? The stuff you guys are jumping on seem inconsequential to me. -

They've probably had a named picked out before the funnel cake stand bit the dust. -
The only seat belts I don't like are Flight of Fear's and Backlot's, but only because they are awkward to put on and off. Seat belts on any ride do not deter my experience.

I would like to clarify why I think KI has better shows since both have musical reviews. 1. KI has had the Cirque/Origins type shows 2. CP has no saxophones in their shows. -

I don't really see a need for KI to be 'above' CP in any case, or vice versa. They both do their own thing that works (even when they were in competing chains). -

I think CP and KI are now on about equal footing overall, especially after KI built Banshee. CP has a slightly better flat collection, but KI comes through with a better wooden coaster selection (hopefully even more so next year) and better shows (which probably isn't saying much). I do like CP's location a bit better, but that's kind of by default. Oh, and KI has the better water park. -
I guarantee that Dollywood is feeling that but worse right now.

Goble, you're a Star Wars guy. Go convince KI to book James Earl Jones for the announcement. -

I don't know how likely this is, but I can imagine a wicked night time announcement at the KI&MVRR station with the actual train playing a part. -
Yeah, it'd be easy to actually stand up in a PTC car with only 1 click.

^Beast had brakes on the first drop for most of its life. The skids were on there before the current magnetic set.

And that didn't make you want to go over and ride it? (That slide is one of the very few amusement devices that scare me just thinking about it. Of course, that will probably get me over there to ride it. The slide is reportedly smoother than Tropical Plunge, which gives me some relief.) I was referring to the fact my jaw was agape when I saw it. Seeing a slide that tall in person doesn't do the pictures a justice. I'm sure I would have gone on it...eventually. So for my HW trip later this month, I'm thinking of leaving mid-afternoon the day before and get dinner around Santa Claus. Any good restaurants in the area?

^^We had obvious construction for Banshee on opening day of 2013 and they didn't announce it until August. KI will do whatever they have planned. And before you bring up SOB's announcement, SOB was one of the largest wooden coasters ever built. A GCI/RMC will take considerably less time to build. Prowler didn't have footings down until mid-September. -
^Hey, at least you have shows and stuff to pad the time.
