how long did you have to wait for these rides
gigacoaster2k replied to zachman's topic in Trip Reports
This is why I love going to parks when it's supposed to be crappy out. I drove to CP one day last summer, and arrived to see huge cloud to ground lightning bolts, and I was one of maybe 3 cars in the GP lot. It cleared up, then a few hours later, black clouds appeared and sheets of rain were coming down for over an hour. My friend Ben and I got something to eat while everyone ran for the exit. Then when the sun came out, you could hear a pin drop on the Dragster midway. -
Pilgrims Plunge

I'm going to Holiwood Nights on May 30. I can't wait to give this thing a whirl. I'm not a big fan of water rides, but that one looks menacing enough to make me want to ride it. -
If you hate the idea of cutting trees down to make room for coasters, then don't ever go to Cedar Point.. there's like 5 trees on that whole peninsula. It's basically a coaster jungle.. which doesn't bother me one bit.

There are thunderstorms heading toward KI as we speak.. so in a little while, the queues will be completely deserted, along with the parking lot..
-
I ordered a juniors size medium. I could squash into a juniors size small if I tried, but I'd probably rip it. A medium is more flattering and comfortable for me. Take that with a grain of salt though.. everyone's body is different.

I ride Slingshot and Drop Tower with my hands in the air. I also offered to pull the cord on my first ride on Skyflyer. You have a long way to go before you scare me.

Just follow through with the bribe, or it won't be long until you don't have a girlfriend to worry about.

I love, love, love, love, LOVE the way Rivertown looks now. They really opened it up, restored a lot of old buildings, put so much hard work into it, and it looks so welcoming. Needless to say, DB's massive hills rising far above the treetops in Rivertown's background is something I never thought I'd see at Kings Island. I am beyond impressed.

You know you're an amusement park addict when your boss is looking at the promotions for next month, and waves you over to show you that there are Cedar Point discount coupons on next month's merchandise.. ..and last year your coworkers brought in torn-out CP and KI coupons from the ads in the Sunday newspaper, and saving empty Pepsi cans with the CP discount on them so they can go with you.. .. and your boss purposely gives you and your assistant manager the day off so you can go to the park together.. ..or when a customer calls to ask if you have KI tickets available yet at your work and you don't, so you give them the detailed process on how to print their online tickets and what to do when they get to the park..

Don't let her eat before she rides, that is what makes some people sick. Talk to her calmly on the way up the lift hill if you see that she is scared, and hold her hand if possible. So many people drag their friends on rides and the friend ends up traumatized and hating not only the ride, but the person that made them do it. I speak from experience.. it took me a while to get over it, but it did happen. If she doesn't want to ride coasters with loops, take her on Racer (not the blue side, it hurts!). Does she like Beast? If you want her to ride DB with you, kindly tell her that the lift is the worst part and that it's all good from there, and go on and on about how amazing it is. If she still doesn't want to ride with you, then at least I tried.

Last time I was at KI, I was walking with everyone at night and I heard Kat say "Ooh, purple" behind me. I looked over to see the tower a startling shade of purple against the night sky. I love the color changes, it really adds a nice touch to the park at night.

I ordered mine (Chase's design on a white tank) around 5:30 pm on Tuesday, and opted for the 4-6 day shipping. It was here when I got home around 3:30 pm today. Not only did it get here faster than I could blink, it's EXACTLY as pictured, it's a perfect fit, and it looks great! Thanks again, KICentral!

Question about season pass processing...
gigacoaster2k replied to Oldiesmann's topic in Kings Island
That happened to me only once last year, and it was on opening day. I refused to pay the parking fee. I argued with them until they scanned the bar code and it showed up as a platinum pass. They then apologized, and pointed me to Gold Pass parking. -
I ordered the white tank with Chase's design on it (for now). I will likely order one of LMH's shirts later, as several things are coming up that require me to spend money, therefore I must save. I did go for the 4-6 day shipping, just to make sure it gets here in time for RWW.. that economy shipping can sometimes be a little questionable. I'm not putting my username on either shirt, because it seems I am immediately recognized without it.

I just like riding it at night. You have NO idea where you're going.. it's pretty fun.

Question about season pass processing...
gigacoaster2k replied to Oldiesmann's topic in Kings Island
Kat and I did the same thing when we went to get our passes processed. They scan a bar code on your voucher that will end up being the same bar code on the back of your season pass. They will not charge you for parking if it is a gold or platinum pass voucher. No worries. -
Swine Flu Orlando
gigacoaster2k replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Cassie, I agree with you about the US and Mexico being different as far as health care and sanitization. My mom said the same thing on the subject, and isn't too concerned about it. I think that even if the flu does start to spread throughout some of the states, I doubt that flu cases will be as serious here as they are in Mexico. -
I don't even bother waiting for Firehawk anymore. Their painfully slow loading time, pulsing of the line to the loading station, and 1-train operations kills capacity along with my patience (not that I had any in the first place ). DB's single rider line would make sense if the coaster wasn't a people eater. I waited in the SRL for what seemed like over 10 minutes, and noticed that the people who were behind me in line were on the train in front of me. I decided at that point that the SRL wasn't worth it, I could have gotten on a train faster in the regular line. Maverick's line moves painfully slow, and so the SRL is like a gate to heaven for me, as I often travel to CP by myself and meet up with others later.

Join Us For Ride Warriors Coaster Weekend!

That's the ONLY place I use when I need to book a hotel room. They do flights and rental cars too. They are cheaper than Expedia and several other places I have researched that claim to give you the lowest price. -
Swine Flu Orlando

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Sure, amusement parks are a great way to spread viruses. Guess what? So are shopping malls, grocery stores, fuel stations, pay phones, restrooms, banks, bars, and churches. Also, remember the West Nile virus scare, the anthrax scare, and the bird flu scare? I'll believe it when I see it.. and I doubt I will. -
I have yet to ride Behemoth, in fact DB was my first B&M hyper. I've been on a floorless B&M invert and a B&M standup, but that's it. (Gee, I wonder if anyone can guess what those are! ) Even with the trim on DB's 5th hill, it didn't affect the air on that hill at all. I was ecstatic. Although I must happily declare from my last trip report, that with my first two rides on DB last Friday.. that trim was off.
-
I did go last Friday, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw how short the line was. I got 7 rides in. Diamondback is worth any wait. It's an amazing ride.

I'm not a mod or an admin, but.. Will everyone PLEASE stop bickering?? It's not productive. We are all here for the same reason, and Dane was kind enough to add a second shirt to the store for us. The contest is done and over with. The winners have won, fair and square. The shirts are in the store. If you like them, buy them. If you don't like them, don't buy them. Gosh.

LMH, your design looks great on the yellow tank top. Chase, your design looks great on the blue tank top. Great.. now I don't know which one to buy.
