  1. As much as I adore Voyage (I seriously need to make it to Waldameer and Mt. Olympus next year), I think I'd rather see a GCI at KI. Realistically, I don't think we're going to see any sizable coasters anytime soon. It doesn't seem to be how Ouimet works, based off the announced 2013 Cedar Fair additions (with the exception of Gatekeeper.) On the plus side, if the rest of the 2013 additions are any indication, we might see some Larson flying scooters come our way, which would make me really happy.
  2. Seconded here, and same to you, Don!
  3. ^ I like the sound of that in theory, but I feel like that would go nowhere fast. Maybe we could add a "historical" or "expert" option for non-present things?
  4. I'm with kblanken. WW wasn't bad; it just wasn't anything noteworthy. The drop off the double-down was really the only thing memorable, and that's just because I don't think I've ever heard PTC trains make that sound before.
  5. ^ I've been there and remember the names, and I can't think of the name of a great wooden coaster at Michigan's Adventure, either...
  6. There's a great wooden coaster at Michigan's Adventure? (I had to say it... )
  7. I'm assuming they're Larson scooters. (Even though that appears to be Carowinds in the picture, which means the photo actually is of our old Flying Eagles.) Yeah, Larson's scooters aren't in the same league as the Bisch-Rocco ones KI once had, but they're still fun rides. I can't really guess a reason from a business perspective why KI would ever get their set back from Carowinds, so I'm okay with Larson if that's what we would get.
  8. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152067119871758&set=a.10150207672166758.306130.140264646757&type=1 That's two Cedar Fair parks now (Knott's and MA) that are getting flying scooters next year. Here's hoping KI's not too far behind.
  9. Something tells me you should avoid having a conversation with sheikra_rocks...
  10. I've had a really strong interest lately in the Silverwoodies, all coasters at both Busch Gardens, Georgia Scorcher, Georgia Cyclone, Renegade, Prowler, New Mexico Rattler, Silver Comet, Talon, Ravine Flyer II, Predator, Incredible Hulk, and either of the American Revenges of the Mummy.
  11. I always heard the International Street curbs were a hazard, so it surprised me this summer to see that Great Adventure has several curbs. Is it because of a difference in state laws, or is it just a matter of park preference/attempts to avoid liability?
  12. The back half of Coney counts, right? Easy: the Kings Island sign in front of the fountains Hard: the Action Zone water tower
  13. Easy: Anything pertinent to Adventure Express Hard: Backlot Stunt Coaster's fire effect
  14. ^ Hey, it's Clifford! Missed that guy. It just struck me today how big Gatekeeper really is. This thing's really going to stand out in an area that never really caught my attention visually with Disaster Transport. In terms of the skyline, this is a huge improvement.
  15. ^ Did you see how painful that fall looked? If that ladder was any bigger, he'd break an arm!
  16. Not a rumor, but here's hoping Dollywood gets a (proper) Drop Tower. That would be a neat spot for one, as you've got the train running along the hill on one side and Wild Eagle/Mystery Mine on the other to give riders an exaggerated sense of height. Kind of like how I hate sitting on the Skyflyer/Son of Beast/Eiffel Tower sides of Drop Tower because it reminds me how stinking high up I am.
  17. Meh... Wasn't that excited by Adventure Mountain. Never did it, but that sort of thing doesn't really interest me. It felt a little out-of-place to me at Dollywood--but that's again probably because I'm not wowed by rope courses.
  18. To be fair, it really does contain one of the Coney games: Hard: Green X-Flight paint showing on Firehawk Easy: WindSeeker from the Eiffel Tower
  19. At the risk of sounding like a fanboy or like I'm trying to overthrow your effort (I'm not), I voted for Holiday World. HW keeps growing into this bigger park but still manages to maintain this very personal and warm "small park" feeling. I do love KI (and, to a somewhat lesser extent, CP), but if you're asking me to pick between KI and HW, I'm probably going to pick Holiday World, despite how much I love Adventure Express and the childhood memories I have of KI. Edited after a couple likes to say: Now, if Dollywood were in the running...
  20. Just making the point that "dormant" would mean that the park has literally nothing to do with the building until Haunt, which is not the case, as TOPGUN has pointed out.
  21. So, in other words, The Intepreter dislikes/detests Browntggr's criticism of his grammar, but he doesn't dislike Browntggr.
  22. ^^ To be fair, if 2011 is any indication, they also use the building for storage. On closing day 2011, they'd already started to collect trash cans in the preshow room. So really, it's not that dormant at all.
  23. I realize the fate of the building isn't about to change, but I keep daydreaming of a renovation where the building is shrouded in evergreen trees. The theme would shift from Tomb Raider (which, really, was all The Crypt's "theme" was, anyway) to some sort of "spirit of the woods" theme (a la Verbolten, only less Germany and more Ohio.) The queue would be modified to resemble walking deeper and deeper into the woods, and the preshow chamber would instead have what appears to be a wolf statue atop some rockwork in the center of the room (with the rest of the room changed to a "heart of the forest" theme, with faux sunlight shining into the room before and after the preshow.) Via a projection system (much like the one used at the front gate at Haunt a season or two ago), the wolf statue would appear to come to life and tell some foreboding tale about how humans have been a curse on the forest and how the riders may leave in peace or else press on and face the consequences. Not that I've been thinking about it a whole lot or anything, but I bet the Hunger Games score would blend really well with the theme, too. I mean... not that I've thought about it much, but I think an edited form of James Newton Howard's "Healing Katniss" would make a neat queue theme. And they could maybe play "The Hunger Games" in the outdoor queue. And then they could... I dunno, use an edited form of "Rue's Farewell" for the preshow ambiance. And then I guess they could use "Katniss Afoot" for the loading music, and maybe they could use an edited "Muttations" for the ride, which would then contain an encounter with the "spirit of the forest" in the form of a giant wolf carving that comes to life and engages the riders in a battle of the elements. ...Not that I've thought about it or anything. (Old habits die hard, I guess.)
  24. I generally like the sound of all of this. Sounds like Luminosity's on its way to other parks in 2013 and beyond. What concerns me: Did they start doing this this year at CP or something? (I've never been to Halloweekends.) I really dislike the idea of upcharge haunts... Hope this isn't the new trend. Or are they talking about the fact that Haunt isn't included with the standard pass?
