  1. You can't compare Flight Deck to Iron Dragon? No. Because I'll never understand how Iron Dragon sucks so badly when Flight Deck and Big Bad Wolf are so great. True that, true that. It's so slow! My best memories of that ride consist of waiting in line for Dragster. Watching Dragster consistently go 120 MPH then seeing Iron Dragon look like it's going about 5 in that helix.

    New Coaster?

If I am correct, Wicked Twister debuted in 2002. I just find it interesting that they have had 4 coasters ever since the new Millennium (can be used both ways), and they were all Intamins.
  3. I almost forgot. Back on topic. I'm 13 and I can remember back when I was finally tall enough for the coasters. I rode The Racer before Top Gun (that's what it was called, of course), and this was when I was about 6-7. Your son is sure to be a future Ride Warrior. Ride On. Ha you've gotta take him to CP when he is 52 or 54 inches.
  4. They should really make a company- wide policy about metal detectors. This would be much easier. I know that this is a long shot, but think about what a lawyer would say if somebody was violently injured with a metal weapon in a park without detectors. They could easily say "well if you have them in some of your other parks, why not here?"
  5. If I hadn't have thought that, I probably would have liked it a lot more.
  6. Blizzard River was closed, and we didn't have much time to do everything, seeing as we wanted to do all of the coasters. Don't get me wrong, I liked Thunder Run, I was just kind of disappointed that we didn't go all the way back to the Twisted Twins.
  7. I was going to take pictures, but I had forgotten until the way home. I bought the Super 6 Pass (or whatever it's called) for $35- $30 with an extra $5 "print-and-go" fee-. I was going with my younger cousin (Jake) who had a pass, and goes frequently. His favorite ride was Chang, and the only one he hadn't ridden was T2. This was my first Six Flags park, so I really didn't know what to expect as far as size and atmosphere went. We got to the gate at about 2:45. They were out of plastic pass cards, so next time I go I'm going to have to get it processed. When we got to the park, Greezed Lightnin' was closed, so we headed for Chang. The line wasn't too bad. The worst part was that that they were only running one train. That certainly slowed things down. Apparently Diamondback is advertised a lot down in the Louisville area, and my cousin had heard of it, so I was talking about it to him. The lady in front of us in line turned around and asked "have you been on the new Diamondback?". So I explained that I was from Cincinnati, and we had a short conversation about it. Soon, we had got to the station, to find the second row completely empty. So we went straight for it. Now for my reaction to the ride: I liked it a lot. Even more than Mantis. Though they're pretty much a mirror image of each other up until the brake run, I could feel Chang's extra height and speed, and liked the handles more. That's how I'd describe Chang: a better version of Mantis. Next we went to ride T2. Again, they were only running one train. And each train only holds 14 people, so it was pretty slow. Although there weren't as many people in line for T2 as there were in line for Chang, It was a lot longer of a wait. The sixth row had the shortest line, so we went there. Now for my reaction to this ride: OUCH! Most of the pain here was very unnecessary. Like you're just going down the hill and it is worse than Son of Beast. The inversions were not nearly as good as Raptor's, and I found the overall ride to be quite short. I mean it would actually be a decent ride if it wasn't so bumpy. It must be in the Vekoma's blood to be short and painful. Jake liked it, and I was glad I rode it. At this time it was 3:30, and we went to go get some food. Right outside of T2 was a shack looking thing, and I with I could remember the name, but they had seasoned fries ($3.99) and Kingdom Fries ($6.49) and drinks ($3.50, $0.99 Refill Souvenir). He had a souvenir cup, so he got Kingdom fries, and I got seasoned fries and a Vault. The portions were huge. The seasoned fries were enough for one, but the Kingdom fries were enough for 2, considering they had a lot more fries, and nacho cheese, ranch, and bacon bits on the top. I would highly recommend these if you want some really good fries. You should split them though, it's huge! We walked clockwise around the park, until getting to Thunder Run. The line was a bit long so we said we'd come back. We went to Rollerskater (one train). It was probably my third favorite kiddie coaster, behind Reptar and Fairly Odd Coaster. I didn't ride Woodstock's, but they looked very similar. We then went to see the motion movie: Secrets of the Lost Temple. It wasn't in 3D, and the pre-show was kind of cheesy, so I was a bit worried that it wouldn't even top Spongebob. At the end I decided that it was far better than Spongebob. It seemed a lot longer, too. Then we rode the Enterprise. The same thing as Witches' Wheel, but I felt it was shorter than WW. Greezed Lightnin' (one train, obviously) had opened back up and didn't have any line whatsoever, so we immediately got in line. Jake insisted that we got front seat so we did. Overall, I thought it was pretty fun. The only shuttle I like more is Wicked Twister. Although, in the front seat on the backwards loop, it feels like you're going to fall out. Pretty neat. We then rode Road Runner Express. I found it to be similar to Wildcat, except only slightly better due to the hairpins at the top. We walked towards Thunder Run (one train) to make it so we had ridden every coaster, and by this time we almost had to leave. The line moved fairly quickly, and we were towards the back seat. Looking back out of the brake run, there was wooden track WAY back there, so I was excited and ready for a long wooden coaster. When we got off, it left me thinking, "that was it?" I quickly realized that that wooden track back there was Twisted Twins. Geez I wish I had come a few years back and ridden that. Oh well. I thought Thunder Run was too short, but still a decent ride. By then we had to go. We ran out to the car and went home. After hearing that SF parks had a reputation for bad atmosphere, I was pleasantly surprised. I liked the smaller park feel. It's not the 15+ roller coasters I'm used to, but still fun. My main disappointment was that they only had one train open on every coaster besides Road Runner. Even though GL and RS could never operate with 2 trains, there were still 3 coasters that could easily have been running 2 or more trains. Chang was my favorite, followed by Greezed Lightnin', then T2 and Thunder Run. That's it for the big coasters. I had a really good time.
  8. You can't compare Flight Deck to Iron Dragon?
  9. Red. It looks neat. Plus I've never seen anyone puke on a train besides brown.
  10. The rides. Definitely the rides. Also if I'm in the area I will go. For the rides.
  11. It says El Toro is the fastest wooden coaster in the US. It also says Millennium Force is the 2nd longest coaster in the US. Apparently they didn't consider Son of Beast here?
  12. We were about in the same place. I too have a picture like that.
  13. Oh. I must be getting tired and missed something....and by the way that high roller that you didn't ride didn't seem to be all that high at all.
  14. Thanks. I will without a doubt have fun on my Atlanta trip, unless of course the Hokies get destroyed and SFOG is closed.
  15. Judging by what my sister and dad said, the only good part was the view. Other than that it wasn't that fun. You could just run around the observation tower for the same effect. However, the other 3 rides are probably the coolest rides I have ever ridden. If you are in Vegas, DO NOT PASS THESE RIDES UP!!!!
  16. ^Oh it always is. Anyway, Diamondback and being able to stay there until dark so I can get an amazing ride on Beast is always fun.
  17. Gotcha. One last thing. How far is it from the city?
  18. The rides I'm most looking forward to are Goliath, Superman, Batman, and Acrophobia. And were you saying the Cyclone thing as a good thing, or bad?
  19. Precisely. I was there when I was just a wee little boy of maybe 3, and barely even remember it, but I did not ride it. Over spring break this year however, I rode all 3 of the remaining rides. Good, good stuff.
  20. Wow. You're lucky. I'm about a month older than you but I've only been to 4 parks, 2 of which only had 1 coaster. I hope to reach 50 soon.

  21. I already said this but Flight of Fear. More new rides in '96 include Mantis, Montu, and Highroller.
  22. Couldn't have said it better. Although, Millie is falling on me. I don't even find it to be much fun anymore.
  23. By the way, my dad went to Virginia Tech so we're going to the kickoff game in Atlanta. I talked him into going on September 6th to SFOG. Any tips, recommendations, must rides, or anything else that might be nice to know?
  24. Rivertown. Beast and Diamondback, the two best rides in the park IMO, respectively. Add in the good Western theming, and you get the best part of the park. Not to mention the potato works... Rivertown FTW!
