  1. ^ The point was that they have proven that they like their rides to be as fast as possible. I believe that they use trims appropriately. Meanstreak would probably fall apart or be so rough it would break people's backs without trims, so I am glad they use them even though it kills the ride experience. See my point? You obviously see no value in trims breaks "if they use them at all, in my opinion, it's too much." That's nearsighted because there are reasons for trim breaks (that's why I made the joke about TTD's breaks), even though they may seem to take away from the ride experience. Again, I hate the trims after the tunnel on Mav but I'm sure they're necessary. Remember the heartline roll? By the way, I am familiar with CP's rides and where all the trims are so don't assume I spoke in ignorence. I simply spoke on rides that proved my point. All this debate is working up a major appetite for some DB airtime! I'm thinking the 2nd and 3rd hills are going to be amazing! The ravine, lateral g's, airtime, wow! EDIT: Aaron posted while I was typing and made the point more eloquently. Thanks!
  2. Come on, it's Cedar Fair. You KNOW they will use both brakes and use them to their utmost ride killing potential. The MCBR will be set up just like all the others, if not a complete stop than almost. The trim brake will be on full power too. That said, I'm sure that Diamondback will be a great coaster, and brakes or not, I'll ride it. If they use the brakes, though, it will be the difference between having just another steel coaster and having an awesome steel coaster. What!?! Your right CF hates speed and intense rides and that's why they built MF and TTD and that little hint of trim on Raptor just kills the ride. Not to mention the brakes on TTD really kill the speed Meanstreak is a train wreck so you can't blame em for using heavy trims, which really do kill the ride. If your talking about Mav, it has more speed than needed when it exits that tunnel and personally, the turns are already a bit rough and I wouldn't really want to go through them any faster. Still, it is a bummer when you hit em so I guess I see why they dissapoint. As far as the mid course break run on DB, notice how high the track is at that point and a pause over that ravine could really add to the ride. On Raptor, I think the MCBR really adds to the ride. It gives you a second to take in what just happened and then your off. It's become one of my favorite parts of the ride. New topic: Kudos to the Adena guys for working so late the other night. That third hill looks amazing and they've got the downside mostly done already. I was talking to a crane operator (not working on DB) Tue and he was saying the guys that connect the steel have nerves of steel. Between the cold and the height, they have my utmost respect!
  3. ^ Friendly teasing is one of life's greatest (simple) pleasures. I haven't checked the weather, as it has been dexterously well proven that it's hard to predict, but I really hope they can get back to work. I was getting so excited watching them work on the third hill. Off to turn in my final 2 papers, last take home final and give my final presentation. Wohoo for semester Break! Maybe I'll get to see my wife and daughter again!?!
  4. Man I almost posted something about Diamondback again. This 'contemplating and debating weather reporting methodology' forum keeps confusing me. I was going to ask if anyone thinks the weather will allow them to get back to work today (intended to be taken interrogatively). I do however appreciate those who attempted to keep those who don't know from acting as thought they do know and masquerading as though they have ultimate authority... as I realize the hypocrisy of engaging in the very discussion that I was attempting to end.
  5. There's a new support ( I think the tallest) for the third hill and they took track back there this morning so we will see some track go up and I think we'll see it topped off. Oops, I forgot I was in the weather forum
  6. Thanks for the pics Avatar! They're working on the third hill. I see track on the ground, supports in the air and Clifford on the move. Clifford should have access to the whole back end and they dismantle cranse to move them so don't worry about him being boxed in. They won't need a long boom for the final helix anyway.
  7. He said footers I couldn't resist. Please don't take offense.
  8. That lovely and loud B&M clank going up the lift hill of DB. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Their coasters are so solid. I also havn't riden SOB since it was down on my last two visits and I confess, prior to that I hadn't been to KI since I was a youngen. I am anxious to see where I stand in the love it hate it debate.
  9. ^Uh, see post 2031. It's 3 posts above yours. Since there is no work done on weekends we were obviously anxious to see if the weather would allow any today...and it has...and we're excitedly watching the webcam.
  10. That's nice. This morning I was wondering of they would even show up. Weather cleared up nicely for today but man are they working in some low temps.
  11. I agree, as a kid I thought those prints were great. I don't know about the Flight Commander prints?!? Actually that just brings up really twisted and disturbing joke ideas that are entirely innapropriate. Was the print for Vortex the hand with twisted track? I can't quite remember.
  12. I'm with ya on not getting butterflies anymore but my first time on Maverick the first drop got me. Hoping some airtime on DB might as well. As for Beast, it's just a fun nestalgic ride. It was the first coaster I rode. The attendant wouldn't let me on cuz I was too small but when they changed shifts I got the new person to let me ride. My dad and sister were in the last couple rows of full switchbacks and I squeezed past the whole crowd. From the first drop I loved it and have been hooked on coasters since.
  13. It's done here and centered over Cbus right now. Not much on the radar other than some dots in IN. Winds are down to 10mph. Illinois looks clear right now. Still don't much getting done thought.
  14. I'm in northern IN and drove to work in high wind and freezing rain/sleet that turned back into rain when I hit the north side of Fort Wayne. Being that it's headed toward OH I wouldn't expect much progress on site today. David who trust that we will get freezing rain because I scraped it off my windshield.
  15. That is sad. Nastalgia is a wonderful thing and it's always sad when a piece of it dies. For those of you who gripe about The Beast being over rated, those ratings will keep it alive and, as it was my first coaster, I don't want to see it go for a very long time.
  16. Saw this on another site. http://newsplusnotes.blogspot.com/2008/12/...ol-present.html
  17. Hey Clifford got it up again
  18. Your right. I just saw one. And I wasn't saying that they weren't there, just that I hadn't seen them and the crane was repeatedly going back and forth without lowering it's hook (insert proper name).
  19. ^ That would make sense but I've seen no trucks, supports tracks etc... Just a crane going back and forth repeatedly. I wondered if they were checking its turn radius since its in such a tight spot. I'm just excited that they might be starting work on the final helix!!!!!
  20. That picture cracked me up! Anyone know what the white crane is doing by the Crypt? It keeps turning back and forth but not really doing anything.
  21. ^^^ Plus they moved Clifford to the back wich was no small project, there's a pile of supports on the service road going to the back, they're currently working on the rise of the third hill, I'm pretty sure a white crane has been distributing supports in the back.
  22. One of the white cranes has been working in the back for more than a few days so I bet they've got a lot of support work done.
  23. Clifford is in the back by the MCBR.
  24. I bet your right, I thought it was track cuz I saw an empty flatbed leaving there. But there's no support work done and they're doing supports in the back half. I'm surprised your resolution is clear enough to see that it's the boom though, I just see red fuzz. I'm now jealous that maybe everyone else hase a clearer view than I.
  25. They're placing lots of track behind the final helix, on the left side of the Crypt.
