That pic is awesome. I'd love to see what those Geese do when the train makes it's splashdown. EDIT: I just had to add something about how amazing this area looks. I just think CF has outdone themselves! -
I feel like welcoming you but you've been here awhile so I'll just say that I appreciate you starting to post (that was ockward) Check Boddha1994's post halfway down page 8 of this thread. You can trust his info! I know of many members from this group who are attending and I Imagine we will have some sort of meet up. If you go alone I'm sure you could plan to meet up with some from this group.

On the maverick in the rain issue IDK but I've ridden it in the rain and watched it run in rain that was heavy enough I thought it was weird that they still had it running. As far as the DB splashdown, I hope they do make it look more natural. I'd love to see stone arond the border and maybe they could paint the bottom so you don't see the concrete. Really though it is all just extra toppings. I would be just as excited about DB wothout the splashdown. -

Maverick has a good rep for staying open in the rain. I head there anytime raing comes and I'm at the point. Higer rides often colse in poor weather so that may be the case with DB but it wouldn't effect the splashdown. everything is already wet. -
It all reminds me of 3 mil for an older woman holding McDonald's coffee in her lower regions. I sometimes still chuckle when I see warning signs that coffee may be hot. I thought that was the idea of a hot drink, everyone I know who has burned their mouth on coffee feels like a fool for not being more patient or careful. None have sued Mr. Coffee to my knowledge.

Not all ponds need treated but man made ones have no natural ecosystems to keep things in check. There's always a lot of factors involved. One of our ponds had three huge...HUGE fountains (recycled industiral boilers) but the city always added chemicals because of the homeless bathing in them. I doubt that's a problem at KI but I'm just pointing out that there's things we may not be thinking of. EDIT: I forgot to ask if anyone has seen if testing has begun. I can't get an image on the webcam and don't have time to wait for my turn in the que. -

The blue is not just dye. It's Copper Sulfate and also serves to keep down living organisms like Algae. I weorked for the Parks Dept in Fort Wayne and we used it in all man made ponds. -

My stanky degress do get me some pretty nice pay. Seriously though, were here to talk about a ride were all excited about and slang, bad grammar and txt language... text language just really gets confusing and annoying. I'm not trying to put you down Lilsammy but please read and obey the terms of service. -

Holiday World Owner Awarded Heart of Indiana
74Gibson replied to RailRider's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Her title is Director of Values. Wow! I'm really impressed and just solidified my plans for a family trip to Holiday World this summer. That should be a good first park for my daughter, even though she'll only be about 1 yr old. -
Any establishment running on renewables will have a backup. Energy can be stored in batteries but these are not ideal and improving their capacity and ability to hold power over time is the key. It's like my Prius, when I have energy built up in the battery the electirc motor runs on that. If I'm accelerating or goin fast the gas engine kicks in. Even a mix of soalr and wind is not completely reliable and note they said that the goal is to run completely on renewables. That's the goal at a lot of places but currently most have back up connections to the electric grid. I think this is an awesome move and I applaud them.

Definitely Little Bill's. Man those are some scary drops!

Not surprising, sad but not surprising. I really think a lot of families will be looking for lower cost activities that are closer to home. I still think our local parks have a good chance of increased attendance which hopefully increases profit. With per capita spending down though it could be bad all the way around. Parks congested with people not spending money or wanting to come back because of the crowds. Time will tell.

I think they would take the partitions out before they filled it. -
I think the economy will have an impact too. People will be looking for cheaper entertainment and staying closer to home. I see attendance at amusement parks going up this summer.

Any word on the news crews. Have they entered the park? Gotten footage from the parking lot? I think if I was there I would put on a bib to catch all the drool! Anyway, how lucky is Dan. Seriously, to be that enthusiastic about coasters and getting paid for all the photo taking, messaging, seat testing/photo op. Not that I think it's all fun and games but he has to love his job. -

IF you just stay on it it will refresh/cycle, just not as often as it usually does. Or you can just stay here and wait for people to post pics. -

Personally, I think it would be a bad idea for them to show the first test runs. This has basically been said before but, what if something happened. Even if it was routine or something insignificant, once it hit the web there would be no getting it back. That could cause a PR crisis over nothing. Keep in mind folks, Dan is every bit as excited as we are and quite possibly the biggest coaster enthusiast of all of us. I think it's pretty cool and we are very lucky that he has the job he does. However, there are decisions made that he must follow regardless of his personal enthusiasm. I'm sure they will show us test runs as soon as possible and if the are not showing ones occuring now, there is a good reason for it. Just be glad we've got the webcam at all. -
Ahh you've got me remembering my high tech family and the pride we had in our new Apple IIe. Making printshop banners, playing Oregon Trail all day and learning math with Number Munchers.
