My thoughts go out to the family. This is truly tragic. Shark, I agree with you mostly but the logic kinda misses the point. Plenty of murderers, thieves and pedophiles have deep remorse for their actions but further actions are necessary for protection of the community. Parents are supposed to protect their children and that is a major responsibility. Just like working a round dangerous chemicals, extra caution is necessary.

Certain teases are simply part of this group. Becoming part of the group means learning the inside jokes. Sometimes it annoys me too but usually I quite like it. My wife would say the same thing about me on many...many things. Hope it doesn't bother you too much I should add it has never bothered me nearly as much as some avatars

Silver Dollar City 2013 Coaster

Here's a construction update video showing off some of the areas and foliage in question. -
Why do they call them apartments when they're all stuck together? Gallagher

^knowing him as a man of good character and true respect for those with disabilities, I would imagine there was misunderstanding involved. I can't think of anyone else here who has made more posts against inappropriate stereotypes or derogatory statements than he. There are several people here that I have tremendous respect for and I owe the majority of my KI knowledge to this site. I find peace, comfort and joy with these friends (some I've never met) and am glad to be a part of this community. I get annoyed at immature posters and haven't posted much recently but I can't imagine I'll ever stop returning to KIC.

That's often not true anymore. Bullies are quite frequently the popular, athletic and confident type. They don't simply pick on the weak though that type of bully does still exist. As an elementary school counselor, I saw plenty of times that fighting the bully just redirected them to someone else. Research (Olweus, Josephson Institute, etc...) shows that creating a community and school environment that puts down bullying is bar far the most effective. In most cases, it take far more than one person beating up a bully to stop them.

Great trip reports. Thanks for sharing. I missed my trip to Hershey last year because of the floods and I'm not making it this year either so I'm definitely look forward to your 3rd installment.

Your typo or autocorrect made me think of SNL's Mr Subliminal. Like so: "what do you think tunnels would FACE PALM help?"

Most anticipated water park ride?

^^ I don't get it. They usually have launches up multiple hills. -
Everything we experience is subjective so many of us differ in how we perceive things. There's some cool neuroscience behind perception. Often musicians associate a certain color with a certain note (like A# is blue) and a lot of time they are the same between different musicians. Acoustic guitars are considered warm and clean while distorted (really loud noise sound) ones are thought of has sharp and dirty. There's even research showing random people fairly universally consider certain sounds round and others square when surveyed. Also, researchers are thinking that artistic types have more neural interconnectedness between the different sensory and expressive areas of their brain. Perhaps they experience these different sensory perceptions much more similar than the average person. Poets for example, are skilled at connecting words with other senses like a black soul or a voice of rose perfume. When my guitar amp gives feedback, I taste metal.

Silver Dollar City 2013 Coaster
74Gibson replied to Captain Nemo's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I think (at least for enthusiasts) it's all about the ride experience which is determined more by what type of track the train rides on than the structure. Ignoring the structure, could you really imagine riding Gemini or AE and thinking that are traditional wooden coasters. It's all about trying to classify an experience. Topper track is just another evolution in the science/art of building coasters and confuses the classification issue. It's truly not wood or steel but a hybridized way of building a coaster. Edit: I really wanted to say about Joncars pic., On topper track, they have the train wheels roll over bolts to simulate that old time wood coaster roughness -
Yeah, that's what I was wondering. Weird title.

Nothing at Ki. I have waited 4 hrs for Magnum the year it opened.

When going to CP, I usually look forward to Magnum and Skyhawk the most. Magnum is under-rated, hype just wears off after 23 years I think Mantis is a great ride if you use some leg strength and sit near the back and on the left side. Maverick would be my favorite coaster if the wait wasn't always so long and it didn;t let me down so many times by not being ready for ERT going down while I'm in line for it. Millie is awesome and I love the ride but it is getting kinda old... except the first drop. If it weren't for the wait, I could ride it all day for that first drop!

I remember being very young and asking the ride op for the Eiffel Tower about The Bat. He honestly told me that they were removing it because it was sinking. Makes you wonder about the rumors of Vortex sinking.

Keep in mind too that the nickel king is gone.

For those talking about re-using the wood, it's not as easy as it sounds. Demolishing a structure as large as SOB in a way that leaves the lumber usable sounds like a nightmare. Then it would all need to be inspected by a licensed individual (it's code, I've been there) and remember investigations on ride incidents found the wood to be inferior quality. Then you have the logistics of where would all these inspections occur, transportation, sellers etc... Beside, who wants a deck made of 10 year old wood full of holes from it's original use. That said, I use salvaged lumber whenever I can.

That's what I thought too... until I launched a podcast magazine promoting good things in my home town. Believe it or not, Facebook is an incredible business tool and social media is the future of marketing. To be fair, many of your comments could easily be applied to people posting in a forum about amusement parks.

Mine was The Beast when I was like 7 or 8 and I've been hooked ever since. Magnum is the other coaster that I would credit most for my addiction... I mean love of coasters.

I find boobs much less offensive than the term "effing". I'm sure there's a point somewhere in there.

With what, Leviathon. I thought that was new for 2012

^ I don't get it, possibly because of late work nights followed by early work mornings.

What do you want at Kings Island in 2013?
74Gibson replied to RollerCoasterHunter's topic in KI Polls
I feel KI or Cf management in general is focusing more on atmosphere and over-all guest experience and I want that to continue more than I want a new ride. That said, I would love a Screamin Swing like Sky Hawk. The best thing they could do for me personally would be a Giga similar to i305 or a multi launch terrain hugger (like Maverick) going in and out of ravines. EDIT: Forgot to welcome RolerCoasterHunter. Hope you enjoy it here! which led to another want for KI... continual growth of this site, with quality content and friendly dialogue... whether we agree on the topic or not! There are many here I have come to respect, appreciate and enjoy. -
Edit: to reflect edit above. Thanks. It really does matter! The screen name Slitthythroat combined with that photo makes me think very unhappy thoughts which is not what I came here for. Just a bit of advice. More on topic, I find Vortex very uncomfortable (i'm tall and barely fit) but enjoy it if riding in the middle of the train. Not too picky but the front and back are simply headbangers and no fun for me. Choosing a seat really maters, for some, on some rides and the ability to do so should not be taken away!
