When did you see them? i was with all of them at about 7? in line for Diamondback. I saw rotag1299 when I got off Diamondback at about 9:30 and the rest in the afternoon anywhere from 12:00 to 3:00. Unfortunately, I had to leave at about 5:00 so I didn't get to be part of the group photo near Diamondback's sign.

Let's see, I saw rotag1299, coasterguy15, ZosoBeast, kittenpooh, violakat03, gigacoaster2k, Avatar, BoddaH1994, Ogrmac, Rollercoast19, indianapolisman, and IBEW_Sparky. It was a pleasure to meet all of you guys. Hopefully, I'll see all of you again and more during Ride Warriors Weekend. I'll be wearing the same shirt.

I saw Single Rider Bob today a few times. I noticed that the top half of the back of his shirt said "Over 1200 Rides Mil. Force 2008." Out of sheer curiosity, did anyone catch what the rest of the back of his shirt said?

SIMPLY AMAZING! I'll start off with the capacity - I took a pic of the sign and met violakat03 and gigacoaster2k. I thought the line was horrible, but Kat said it was only an hour long. This was when it was stretching to the restroom in Nickelodeon Universe. The line really NEVER stopped moving that much. I rode it 3 times and I waited 20 minutes with ERT, an hour at 3:00, and about 30 minutes with the single rider line (great idea by the way). Queue line - it looks SO deceiving on kiDiamondback.com. It's larger than Firehawk's queue. I also like how you walk under part of the ride, can see people going up the lift hill with ease, and can actually see the chain link working in real time. Sign - spectacular! No other words for me to describe it. Asssigned seating - a disappointment, but you can request a seat as I found out. Lift hill - FAST! I timed it and it took about only 45 seconds from start time to drop. It was also steep (I felt like I was almost flat on my back.). First drop - VERY STEEP! This made the ride exciting from the start. Speed and G forces - obvious beyond all belief when you ride it. Airtime - I was not a fan of airtime before this ride. Diamondback actually made it fun for me. Watching - it's almost as fun to watch as it is to ride in my opinion. The fact that you can walk underneath it twice puts you amongst the action. The splashdown is simply breathtaking. Negatives - Sorry, but I found that there were obvious lulls in action on the three bunnyhills after the MCBR. One more is that I like to sustain speed when I reach it. This ride had constant changes in speed because of the many hills that it has. On a side note I'd like to point out that if at first you don't like it, ride it again. It only got better for me! I found the back more exciting, but also more nauseating (A weak-stomached coaster enthusiast is an oxymoron I know, but I digress.) I rode the front seat once then row 16 then row 14. A word to the wise - if you have a weak stomach, DON'T ride only 30 minutes apart from each other on the back of the ride. This ended up in a protein spill for me. Overall, Diamondback was a great experience that lived up to the hype of a year and a half's worth of anticipation for me. If you have a chance, RIDE IT! It's well worth it!

It's Fast, It's Full of Venom... and It's Here!

Hours away! I can't wait! -
Will you be able to sleep tonight before riding Diamondback?!
Tom76257 replied to tigellinus's topic in Kings Island
Congratulations on that, Jackson. You're an inspiration to all of us with your giving and caring spirit. -
Will you be able to sleep tonight before riding Diamondback?!
Tom76257 replied to tigellinus's topic in Kings Island
I could BARELY get to sleep last night thinking of Diamondback and what else I'm going to do tomorrow at the park. I KNOW I'm going to have a tougher time getting to sleep tonight. -
SkyRider - an exact copy of King Cobra and installed a year after. You can bet if I ever go to Wonderland I'll ride this in a heartbeat.
-
^Makes ya feel all warm and fuzzy inside, doesn't it? LOL!
-
Cool! I'll check up on that tomorrow night most likely.
-
Can we see a pic of the shirt that your husband gave you? It sounds like it was very heartfelt.
-
how many trips to kings island will you take this year?
Tom76257 replied to Mr. Coastermania's topic in Kings Island
I know I'll be there at least 8 times this year (which will be a record for me). It'll probably be more like 10 because my brother out of nowhere sometimes says, "Do you wanna go to Kings Island?" I'm not gonna say no to that! 50, 60, 70+ times?! I used to only go 2 or 3 times a year when I was a teenager so these numbers REALLY surprise me! Does the fun ever wear off, or does it build up? -
I thought on Firehawk we put our hands down, not up! Zach who just had to.. More like out, but you know what I mean. Only 3 more days left before I ride Kings Island's only B & M, Ohio's only flying coaster, the world's longest wooden roller coaster, the world's tallest and fastest wooden roller coaster, the coaster that sparked a new age of coaster building, and the only face-to-face inverted coaster in the Midwest. And some people say that Kings Island isn't that great! Can you tell I'm exicted for Opening Day?!

King Cobra for me. That was the ride that made me love coasters. Man how I miss it...

Oh. Sorry about that. I wouldn't mind seeing them again though. If they do have them back I hope it's for Media Day AND Opening Day. I think they added to the whole feel of the ride.
-
I'm signed up for the 5K. Hopefully I'll finish in 25 minutes or less.
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, fella! I'll be riding The Beast on Opening Day for sure. I wonder if it'll have a special 30th anniversary sign on the trains like it did for its 20 anniversary? I also hope they have the stats in the station like they did for the 25th anniversary.
-
I'd love to meet up with you guys, but I'll be with my brother and nephew. I will, however, be wearing a customized white t-shirt with: KICentral TOM76257 in black letters on both the front and back sides of the shirt. If anyone sees me I'd be glad to meet you and shake your hand. I'll be at the park until 5:00 PM on Opening Day.
-
They actually did when it was announced to the public! Who knows? They might just hire some of those actors back for Opening Day.
-
I don't know. It was like Don knew exactly what he was doing and was toying with us or something with an emotionless face. Screamin' Demon, eh? Never got to ride it. Its last season would have put me at age 2. What was it like, Terpy?
-
Cool! I'm on board with most people in saying that the logo looks great, but there needs to be more on the sign. Hopefully this will add to it.
-
I took a nap today and had a dream about Diamondback. My nephew, brother, and I were on the ride in the station and Don Helbig was the ride operator. It was REALLY early in the morning - the sun was just starting to rise. Don said to hop on and we did. I don't even remember it having restraints really. Then, Don sends the three of us backwards through the station a few times. Then he makes it go forward. I then woke up. Just one more week!
-
I heard that the new trains wouldn't go through the loop and that's why the loop was taken out. So if the loop does come back then new trains would have to be installed. I'm not saying there's not a possibility of the loop coming back, but it does seem like a lot of work and money just for it to happen.
-
Realistically, how many Diamondback Opening Day rides do you expect?
Tom76257 replied to tigellinus's topic in Kings Island
I know Angie it does seem so surreal! Can anyone describe the ride experience on a B & M coaster for those of us that haven't had the privelege to ride one?
