  1. The only thing that I see on Screamscape is that the maintenance bay doors were open on two different days with what someone who was driving saw "test dummies," however couldn't provide photographic proof.
  2. Time Machine has been tested within the last month? Any proof of this?
  3. Lol, just threw in the first candy bar that came to mind!
  4. You could have that with Drop Tower, Power Tower and basically any steel ride. The difference being WindSeeker takes up to three hours to be fully evacuated. Coasters take, what, twenty minutes? Do you have a recent time frame of this? Has a WindSeeker been evacuated this year? I just think it's kind of silly to slam a ride for the possibility of being stuck on it when there may be a storm coming, even if there isn't a risk of storm. It has taken three hours to evacuate in the past, and until I see evidence of evacuations taking far less time or not happening at all over a long time, I will continue to not ride WindSeeker when thunderstorms are in the two- to three-hour forecast. So will you ride it when there aren't thunderstorms in the two to three hour forecasts?
  5. That'd be good....as long as none of the rides are actually wrapped in ads. Alright Pay Day train you are out of here enjoy your ride on Thunder Run!
  6. I must have missed that or didn't understand it! Ha! I think my main point is that pride is needed from all sides to make something like KK successful.
  7. Exactly! Most of us will never know what happens between the installment of a ride and the installment of a newer version (when it may look the same on the outside). Most of the time the parks aren't going to send an update on what the manufacturer has done to make the ride have an ease of evacuation until the time hits. That's bad marketing in my book. Could you imagine that facebook post from the park: New for 2014, WindSeeker has received a new pulley on the inside of the tower to speed up the evacuation process should an evacuation be deemed necessary to pursue. Comments: Oh my gawd guys, I'm not ever gonna ride WindSeeker. The park says it constantly needs evacuated and I heard that there were 60 people killed last year when this happened.
  8. The Mayflower anyone? Haha Wouldn't it cost more to "re-locate" the park? Aren't the rides on property owned by the State? Wouldn't purchasing from the state or new rides be cost a ton more than having an agreement with the state to operate? I think of Gilroy Gardens in California, isn't that family park on land that is leased from the City? While not a lot of parks do this, I don't think it is entirely bad. I think it honestly is a point of accountability. Also, the Fair Board isn't the same as it was. Have we seen the exact full business plan to determine if it is sustainable? Comparing SFGAdv to KK is kind of silly as of now, maybe in the future, it won't be. That's like comparing Cedar Point to Holiday World. CP: $54.99 admission, parking $15, preferred parking $25 HW: $39.95 admission, parking is free. They play to different markets. SFGAdv to KK, they play to different markets. Holiday World vs. KK they play to very similar if not to the same market. Eventually when KK is up and going to just adding new additions, why not spin it toward the marketing of More for Less? That's the state this society is in, IMO. There's the whole thought of, what's the way I can get double of ____ (whatever it may be) for half the price or less? It's a sad state to be in, but marketing it toward that can draw more in. How many people when they go to get a new cell phone (if they're not dead set on getting just the upgraded version of their current phone) ask how to get the "greatest phone" for the "cheapest" rate? Eventually, it's how the public will perceive the worth. Yeah, a lower price may allow for people to just let their kids go to the park so the park can "babysit" but it's time for people to grow backbones and help correct the problem when they see it when it comes to the kids vandalizing, causing a ruckus, etc. by calling the kids out, getting security and just taking pride in one's home park. When people start taking pride in their park, the management often times will too.
  9. Most of us know here, how strict The State of California is when it comes to inspections and releasing rides for operation. But what makes it okay that one state says a ride shouldn't operate but another state or two says that the ride is safe to operate? Different standards.
  10. So why not support it? Why bash it before it even opens? (Not pointing you out directly) I don't know the whole financial side of this nor do I claim to. I know that the various businesses that have allotted financing for this project can also win (or lose) from this project. But do tell me, in this scenario......you are multi-millionaire. You have the opportunity to reopen an amusement park that is going to cost millions to re-open. How much money, that you have earned, do you put into the project yourself? How much do you ask other organizations/financial institutions for? If you spend more of your own money than asking other organizations/financial institutions how much will they actually support your business venture?

  12. The one thing that kind of irritates me with Kentucky Kingdom is the constant bickering of Ed better do this, Ed better do that, etc. I guess I'm at the point of frustration where I was with the Decoding Thread for 2014...when the speculating has become more of "I know this for a fact," "Ed better set up the park a certain way to compete with Holiday World," "Pricing better be different because if not there will be a bunch of kids running wild in the park," "The old management left the park a certain way, so it is doomed," etc. I love chatting with you all about all the possibilities but can't we see this as something positive? Personally, I believe that enthusiasts create a culture for new projects, including the re-opening of a park. If a ton of enthusiast are going to be negative about a new coaster, most will find something bad about it. If a ton of enthusiasts are going to be negative about Kentucky Kingdom re-opening, the project is going to be perceived as terribly by most enthusiasts. It seems like y'all always have to be so darn critical of something that should be positive. Yeah, the park may not be adding a Giga-coaster or re-vamping something the way you think it should but come on, be thankful you are going to have another park to go to. If you don't like it after it re-opens, so be it, but don't cut it down until you actually walk through the gates and spend time there.

  14. Wasn't 100% sure...just eyeballing a picture of one. Where did you find the official ounceage (totally not a word but sounded cool anyway)
  15. I mean I'm not surprised that another park bought one, even with the bad press...but who's to say the bad press is accurate? How many times has anyone on this board heard that Son of Beast has killed numerous people? I bet a lot of people and people will comment on news stories that report the truth with pure lies, saying WindSeeker killed 4 guys when they got stuck because they couldn't breathe, etc. Stories are released, i.e. Steel Hawk is going to be relocated from Knott's Berry Farm and it has a checkered past with the state of California releasing the ride for operation after the ride had stranded several people of 4 hours (when the same exact rides have been released to operate after an evacuation system has been placed for the rides) and people constantly think that the ride is going to kill people if it gets installed at Worlds of Fun (just a guess of ideas that may happen) or that the ride will strand people for 9 days, etc. and that results in bad press. When in reality, the ride is safe, it is a machine, there may have been faults but the parks have the duty to maintain them as do the manufacturers when it comes to providing resources on solving problems. I personally like the ride, as it provides a great view, a great way to cool off on a hot day, great capacity, low wait times, etc. So congrats to Adventureland for installing a great ride in my opinion.
  16. I know this isn't really 2014 news..but it's rides like these that make me question what's the point of them? Giraffica (?), to me is so boring, you leave the station, travel through a trough that doesn't have dips, "rapids," etc. that lead up to a tower that immediately sends the boat down and to turn into the station. Divertical, yeah has more of a roller coaster feel to it, but it doesn't look like much of a water ride to me. I feel like Holiday World could benefit Giraffica by adding more to the layout and what not. On topic, this isn't something I'll be loading up the family (if I had one) to head to Holiday World for. To me, I think why bother? If you're going to spend $6.5 the previous year in the water park and then the following year bring in 1 new ride, fireworks and "improvements" (that have yet to be announced) to the parking lot, why bother? IMO a viking ship isn't going to bring in the masses nor are fireworks on Friday nights. But then again, I'm not the target audience...or anymore.
  17. Adventureland Park in Iowa had a surprise announcement today via Facebook today, announcing that they will be opening The Storm Chaser (a WindSeeker) for the 2014 season. I do find it interesting that a non-Cedar Fair park will be getting one of these! Thoughts?
  18. While I support numerous ideas that have come upon this forum, I must also throw in a little disclaimer/plea. Writing to the park is great, stopping in at Guest Relations is great but doing so in excess can get annoying to those who can (higher ups) and those who can't (seasonal associates in Guest Relations and other departments that may receive any contact from the park). The park does hear numerous complaints/recommendations/suggestions/praises daily. It would be silly to imagine that you will get a response right away. I know that when I've sent in a letter to Cedar Point using their forms, they say something to the effect of response may take up to 2 weeks once received for you to receive a response. Sometimes it takes longer, depending on the level of severity/needed communication. So don't expect a response right away. Also note that most of the ideas/proposals do cost some kind of money, whether it be removing Snoopy Starlight Spectacular, renovating the Festhaus to be more German, etc. I'm sure that the park has a certain amount of money, capital, to spend on projects for the next year. Some projects I am sure are in the works a year before fruition and ranked on importance. I think that the park would have to weigh the importance on a project, (not saying this is exactly what is going on right now with the park nor am I speaking for the park) like does the park repave the parking lot or do they fix up the Festhaus to be an authentic German eatery? Finally, any letters or communication you put forth toward the park and/or Mr. Ouimet, do so with the utmost respect. As enthusiasts writing in to either, you represent other enthusiasts and KIC (even if you don't think you do). Edit: Also thought of this as well: When I am working with my fellow co-workers and trainees I've always told them that they can come to me with issues that I may be able to fix. I've also told my past employees this as well. When they come to me with issue with something that they have the chance to fix, work around, learn from, etc. they need to take it at face value, but with poor planning, it doesn't constitute an emergency on my part. I kind of feel like the phrase: it doesn't constitute and emergency on my part could be turned into what we see as an issue as the enthusiasts we are, doesn't mean it's an emergency on the parks end or necessary to take care of right away. Yeah I understand that Starlight Spectacular looks terrible and what not but the park may have other fish to fry at the moment. I don't know if this edit makes sense....I've been awake too long and my brain is fried from work.
  19. I road Steel Force during Coasting For Kids in 2012. I am pretty sure I sat in at least every row of each car. It was a great ride and I felt numerous pops of air!
  20. Not gonna lie, this is one of my favorite inversions out there. Yeah, it may be slow, but it's fun!
  21. Yet if this happened you'd have a few who would immediately post here that they don't like the direction of the park and won't renew their passes. You'd have several fan boys via KI Facebook post about how disappointed they are and 40 different things the park could have done instead of removing the "themed" areas. It's a no-win situation...there will always be someone complaining about something on either side of the "issue".
  22. I must have missed your original comment Pyro, but I think you're referring to Halloweekends. Most if not all of the scarezones and haunts will be running on Friday nights. See here: https://www.cedarpoint.com/haunt/rides-attractions
  23. Diamondback, Crypt and Beast in 2010. Beast only an occasional shifts.
