  1. I made my way to the Cbus Zoo, last year and man that place is wonderful. Between the Bear area (with the Polar Bears' new digs) and the Tiger encounter, its wonderful. Having visited Cincinnati Zoo last week, I feel that it is great in its own way as well. The Rhino area (which was closed due to the winter) may be the nicest part. However, the new cat enclosure thats being built is sure to be just as nice...
  2. and I would think this makes sence. The brain is floating around in your skull on a layer of CSF (think of a ballon inside a small box covered in water). As the roller coaster accelerates (quickly), the brain would slide backwards making contact with the base of the skull. When the coaster suffers a negative acceleration (known as stopping ), the brain then floats forwards making contact with the front of the skull. Oh BTW the front of the skull has bumps/ridges located on it. A servere impact can cause the front of the brain to shred/tear as it makes contact. Not to mention that as the brain moves in the skull it can rotate and bump the skull on other sides of the brain. So you say so what, right? well the back of the brain has an area called the Occipital Lobe. This beauty is only incharge of your vision. The front of the brain is the frontal lobe which is in charge of executive function. The sides of the brain control language and creativity. The top of the brain only controls motor planning and execution (no big deal right?). Then, the base of the brain is in charge of low level functioning (heart, lungs, reflexes, etc). http://www.webmd.com...-coaster-riders http://www.ncbi.nlm....les/PMC2796436/ but becareful. the last article only had 4 participants (far from what you would need to "prove" anything in a study.) Also this line So note, that the study was not independent but done by a park organization showing that their rides are safe I present this material not to scare riders, but to show that we must all recognize our own limitations. Also, there is no proof that Roller coasters do or do not cause a TBI (traumatic Brain Injury).
  3. and this is the reason why seatbelts are a good thing. I know it takes some thrill away, but I would rather have less thrill and feel the extra safety...
  4. while a closed ride may draw some people to the park, an opened ride would have the potential to draw many many more....
  5. Oh, Im a bowler at heart. If I would remember to bring my ball and shoes, I would hit up every bowling alley I could find. I just dont see the bowling alley being a huge draw for families.... but then again Im always surprised by people...
  6. Which makes sense. if they demolish the ride before exploring all options, then well that would be a problem for the board. Same way as reopening the ride. How does a SBNO ride cost the park so much money it justifies a decision before all avenues have been pursued to open it, or enough revenue has been generated to take it down? Thats not exactly what I was saying. I meant my remark to sound more like this "its better for the park to leave a ride SBNO (which costs money to keep it from falling down, but not drawing fans to the park) is better than rushing into a decision to demolish or reopen the ride."
  7. and to be honest on vacation how many people want to bowl, while at Disney. Its like saying Im going to the movie theater. Not saying no one wants to bowl on vacation, but if its not unique, then the dollars are hard to spend
  8. so virtually you are saying, that having the ride SBNO which is in effect costing money and adding almost no positives to the park, is better than demoing it or reopening it. interesting to hear it put that way
  9. and i see this becoming a thing of "1 unit for every 2 guests." Which means that if you have a group of 4 or 6 you will need 2 or 3 units.
  10. the smartphone virtual Q seems like a great idea, but parks will not go for it. If you can get an extra 5 bucks per party to rent a unit, why would they give it away for free?
  11. and theres the rub my friend. Former GMs, presidents, CEOs can say what they want, but the future of the company is in different hands with different goals. Does the goal include SOB? Someone knows. But I dont think they are saying just yet.
  12. Terp, that is what I try to tell me students, but they look at me like I am the old guy (at 26).
  13. I asked the mrs. and she told me it was E R. I should just Google things when I'm in doubt. Now, I have to eat crow! It is all good! As the high school students in my classroom say, "its only on the internet, who cares."
  14. Listen, I am on here reading, almost daily. I may not post very often but I am noticing many things about KIC. There are many posters taking "shots" at other members. Why is there so much vitriol being thrown around on here. If a person is putting their opinion out, others shouldnt shout them down. Being civil is a good thing people. If a person asks multiple questions about a certain ride that you think are stupid, so what. If you dont like the question, you dont have to tell the person they are dumb. Just dont answer the question... Try and be civil. Please? If this is the wrong location please feel free to move it if you need to. Edited to fix the spelling and added commas......
  15. great stuff thank you for doing this. I think most of my internal votes go to 1970s era...
  16. Thanks for posting this link. I just signed up. I hope to win, just because I want the models of the roller coasters, looks good on a train table
  17. I have not been on here in a long while. Not only did I use of my quota of "likes" on your photos, you have managed to get me to sit here for almost 2 hours reading and looking at this topic... i love the photos well done... and I miss those cars
  18. it may be hard to enforce but if he does something to break the rules (in the future) and gets caught. They would take his name, find he was banned, then they can charge him with trespassing.
  19. I dont see a negative here... I hate to say it but they brought onto themselves. In the list of people who were banned it seemed like it was their "second" strike.... and to the guy who reentered on his motorcycle... seriously? he shouldnt be upset with the park but with himself...

  21. I doubt that Cedar Fair would allow a structure to deteriorate to the point of collapse. So odds are we will not see what is happening to the eagle happen to SOB, unless its man made of course
  22. I have been guilty of filling up an old cup. Its more tradition/memories, so I know it has been done. Higher refill price for old cups? creating a perk for new cup buys? and there you have found the way to make it both appealing to the "frugal" (I am not paying 6.99 for a new cup I have my old Flight of Fear cup) and the person who will buy a new cup (I want the WindSeeker cup...) Ill just be over here drinking from my Flight of Fear cup asking for a new straw because it broke......
