I remember hearing somewhere that the spike was removed to make the tower 'shorter' so that Drop Zone could be advertised as the tallest thing in the park.

While the Voyage is a great coaster, If I had to choose one coaster to ride all day, it would be the Legend. I don't know why, but that's the ride I could ride over and over again.

Mean Streak Catches Fire, Is Doused
LordSkippy replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Look at the bright side-at least it wasn't like the Dreamland fire of 1911. Glad to hear the coaster will be fine! -
I really don't eat at the park; usually I arrive for ERT and leave before lunchtime. On the rare occasion that I do stay at the park for lunch, I usually get either a funnel cake or slice of pizza from the Festhaus LaRosa's.

I'd take a floorless coaster.

Why do people hate the Paramount Period of KI?
LordSkippy replied to RD Reynolds's topic in Kings Island History
The only reason I didn't like Paramount was because of the name. The word Paramount's at the beginning of the Kings Island name was somewhat annoying and unnessicary. Paramount would have been one of my favorite owners of Kings Island, had they not removed Flying Eagles. -
I have one Kings Island map from 2010. I collect postcards and t-shirts for my favorite rides.
-
I was worried about that too. However, let's not forget Delirium was the first of it's kind.
-
I'd assume Cedar Fair wanted a fairly reliable ride if they're putting one in each of their four most popular parks.
-
I'm sure the views of Vortex, Racer, Diamondback, ect. will make this ride what it is. I don't think it'd be that thrilling if it was in a giant metal box.
-
I'm totally pumped for WindSeeker!! I will be there opening day and ride this, no matter how long the line is. I'd take this over a Screamin' Swing, mostly because of the view you'd get from 301 feet.
-
I think that's a great place for a ride like this! I'm sure the views of Racer and Vortex will be astounding! I can't stress enough how excited I am about this ride!
-
I remember reading somewhere else this ride would be near the exit of Vortex...I can't remember where, though.
-
Will the ride have a single rider line? Well, if Cedar Fair wants to push as many people through the ride as possible, I don't see why not.
-
This is the first time I've been excited about a new attraction at KI. When Diamondback was built, I was terrified of coasters and couldn't care less. Now I'll be able to have the experience of following a new ride from when it is first announced to finally riding it! I'm marking my calendars for opening day, as soon as I can find out when that is...
-
I almost fell over when I first read this. I could've sworn this was just another rumor thread. I'll be at the park the day of the announcement and the day after!
-
I've got 18. However, that's not bad taking into consideration I rode Diamondback for the first time less than a month ago. Either way, congratulations on reaching 1000 rides!
-
Well, let's see... 1. Voyage, Holiday World 2. Diamondback, Kings Island 3. Ravine Flyer II, Waldameer Park 4. The Beast, Kings Island 5. Magnum XL-200, Cedar Point
-
If you could only stay in one section of KI for the day.
LordSkippy replied to BeastForever's topic in KI Polls
I picked Rivertown. Can you guess why? And for the top three rides, I'd go with Diamondback, Vortex, and The Racer. -
I got a ride in on BLSC while the lights were on in the tunnel. The track's not as twisted as I expected.
-
I've never ridden a stand-up roller coaster, nor have I ridden an inverted roller coaster, save Flying Ace. Are stand-up coasters really as awkward to ride as they look?
-
beastforever389, I'm with you there. Silly Bands or Silly Bracelets or whatever they're called are so annoying/stupid. Also, the fact that they're thrown in the most random places just annoys me. For example, I took a trip to Waldameer Park not too long ago. While riding the Skyride, I noticed the roof of the carousel building was amost completely covered with Silly Bands/Bracelets. What a waste of money for the people who put them there, and a waste of time for the park who has to clean it up. To me, nothing ruins a good Skyride more than looking down at the rooves of older buildings and seeing cheap, plastic, colored rubber bands.

I'm thinking scavenger hunt. Deg for Degree turn? Start? Signs hidden in trees? Scavenger hunt seems to be the most likely explanation.

What rides will be at KI when you bring your kids there?
LordSkippy replied to KI FANATIC 37's topic in Kings Island
I once made a spreadsheet on roller coaster lifespans, and the average lifespan for a roller coaster was around twenty-something years. I can't seem to find the file anymore, though. -
Not too long ago, I saw someone walking towards WWC via the exit path carrying what looked like a sleeping bag and a tent. Maybe they took the 'Overnight in the Park' thread too seriously.
