What's your favorite dark ride?
LordSkippy replied to CedarPointer's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Carousel of Progress at the Magic Kingdom, if that counts as a dark ride. If not, then probably the Wacky Shack at Waldameer. -
Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues
LordSkippy replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I'd also much rather not have pavers in X-Base. I think that it fits the secret government hanger theme better. But, if X-Base is not re-paved, where will the pavers end? Under The Racer? Partially inside X-Base? Or even at the beginning of the path that runs between Zephyr and the carnival games? -

I, also miss the Ferris Wheel. Then again, I also miss that comparatively nice landscaping in front of King Cobra...

Probably not. On a side note, what would you do in a Kings Island video game, besides walk around the park and design a roller coaster, which you can do on all of the Roller Coaster Tycoon and Thrillville games?

Ripsaw Falls at Universal Catches Fire
LordSkippy replied to a topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I wonder how a fire like that would have started. Glad nobody was hurt. -
I just hope I can have as many good times with my family and friends at Kings Island as I did in 2010. Oh, and ride Diamondback at least one hundred times.
-
They'd better be...a huge gaping hole in Coney Mall would be quite obtrusive.

Dippin' Dots at Holiday World in 2011
LordSkippy replied to Diamondback96's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I'm sure the Holiday World's guests will enjoy some good ol' Dippin Dots and a few clues about a 'brand-new attraction' that nobody knows about yet. -
I highly doubt it. That ride seems lavish, but not $100,000,000 lavish.

You know, the more I look at it, the less likely it seems that The Bat's trains were sent to Chessington. Here is a picture of Vampire: ...and here is a picture of The Bat. While the two trains do, in fact, seem similar, the texture on the trains of Vampire is not present on the trains of The Bat. The claws on The Bat's trains are different than the ones on Vampire's trains, as are the ears. Vampire's trains have handles on the shoulder restraints, which are not present on The Bat's trains. Also, the wheels that connect to the side of the track seem to differ from Vampire to The Bat-while Vampire's trains have large wheels, The Bat seems to have either a set of side wheels or simply large metal plates. So, in conclusion, unless the trains from The Bat were quite heavily modified between when The Bat closed and Vampire opened, it is physically imppossible for the trains from The Bat to be the one used on Vampire before the Vekoma trains used today. Myth Busted.
-
Does anybody have any idea what happened to the trains on The Bat? I've heard several conflicting theories about what happened to them, ranging from they were sent to Chessington to be used on Vampire to they're still being stashed somewhere in the park.

Suspended coasters have so much potential to be great themed rides. Sadly, this potential is almost never exploited, and, when it is, it's not kept up. That may be true with all ride types, but I just see it more in suspended coasters.
-
Yup! The Bat was the prototype Arrow Dynamics suspended coaster. Flight Deck was the last Arrow suspended coaster ever built, if memory serves. So, I guess you could say Kings Island was the beginning and the end of Arrow's suspended roller coasters.
-
Yay! Took long enough, but oh well.
-
I'd enjoy having the recaR again.
-
Well...I didn't think Mean Streak was that bad. It's not the best coaster I've been on, but it wasn't as brutal as I've been made to believe. Who knows, maybe I just hapened to pick the magic seat.
-
I wouldn't mind Vortex being removed for a reincarnation of The Bat, as long as the B&M built on Flight Deck's location would be a sit down multilooper similar to Kumba.
