Engineering the ride to "add 13 feet" just to keep enthusiasts from arguing about the definition of a giga would be pretty silly.

Steel costs about twice as much now as when Fury was being constructed. Looking at it that way, it's great we're getting ours before such large coasters become uneconomical for seasonal parks. https://tradingeconomics.com/commodity/steel Using the terrain to the ride's advantage is a win in my book. He's entitled to his personal opinion, as wrong as it may be. That said, the author's fixation on contradicting the park on their own classification is deeply embarrassing, and this group's "editorial" staff should have helped him realize that. Publishing drivel like this reflects badly on all enthusiasts, which is why a lot of us are upset about it.

A man suffered a collapsed lung after riding a Spanish roller coaster, apparently Red Force at PortAdventura Ferrari Land. This was presumably a preexisting condition aggravated by the ride, but the alleged response from the park's first aid is concerning. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/brit-20-suffers-collapsed-lung-18956887

Cedar Fair's season pass legal terms were updated for the purchased Schlitterbahn properties. https://www.cedarpoint.com/legal/season-pass-terms According to the latest Cedar Fair earnings call, the Schlitterbahn parks are expected to be fully integrated for the 2021 season, so it makes sense that those systems won't be ready next year. https://www.fool.com/earnings/call-transcripts/2019/08/08/cedar-fair-lp-fun-q2-2019-earnings-call-transcript.aspx

I just had the Chicken Shack smoked wings 10 minutes ago. They were definitely smoked. Not sure what was wrong with your wings yesterday.
-
^ I've had the smoked wings at Chicken Shack several times this season and have enjoyed them. What didn't you like about them? I typically get them without sauce, since they're already seasoned. Covering them in hot sauce makes them taste like normal buffalo wings.

Starlight tickets are $39 at the gate this season. If you're coming with a passholder, you could alternatively buy a bring-a-friend ticket. Assuming you plan to visit next year, your best option is probably to just purchase a 2020 season pass. You could do that on your phone and redeem immediately.

I'm in the process of splitting out the recent off-topic discussion into a separate meta topic. Follow that thread to discuss the decoding or construction threads, or KIC in general. As a reminder, the TOS still applies in off-topic threads, so keeping it civil is much appreciated.
-
There are a lot more people who read KIC than who actively post on any given day. For people trying to catch up on a day of decoding, reading pages of people arguing is not fun. No one wants to kill the fun, but let's try to stay on-topic as much as possible in this thread. Other threads exist to discuss other topics, including the random discussion thread for posts that don't fit into any topic. The arguing and disrespect has really gotten out of hand here. Everyone's help in keeping the conversation civil is appreciated.
-
Good reminder to respect private property, especially at CSF. Those on KIC should be setting a good example for everyone else.

The relevant posts have been cleaned up or removed. Efforts to keep the conversation civil and family-friendly are appreciated.

KI announced today that they now have an official Spotify account. The #TEOTWAWKI playlist got mentioned in the decoding thread, but there are also playlists for music in different sections of the park. https://open.spotify.com/user/addhyo98wxl84tm3cx43np99i?si=znAYFdRBQ2y5WHx0nVJc5Q The official playlists aren't as long as some of the unofficial ones, but they're a good starting point. The Timberwolf playlist is particularly interesting.

2020 season passes went on sale today for the two Schlitterbahn parks now owned by Cedar Fair. Payment plans are being offered for the first time at those parks, but (as of now) only single-park passes are being offered. https://schlitterblog.com/get-a-2019-2020-season-pass-for-16-a-month/ No word on whether any Cedar Fair passes will be valid at Schlitterbahn parks for 2020.

Six Flags Great America has a fall festival in November, though it's common for the park to close for the inclement weather Chicago is known for at that time of the year. It would be cool to see Kings Island get a Novemberfest, though staffing the park would be a gamble with Ohio's weather. It would also mean fewer days to prepare the park for Winterfest.

I may have found a new thing

Pass Perks is a rewards program that has been testing at several Cedar Fair parks this season, including Kings Island. As it's currently implemented, after visiting the park, passholders get an e-mail with a discount for use during a future visit. The program has been discussed in this thread:- 1 reply

The length of each side is similar to Thunder Rapids at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. Holiday World's has two sides, so it should get much better capacity. Seeing as they already have the #1 and #2 longest in the world, breaking length records apparently wasn't a priority with this project. Even a "short" (by Holiday World standards) water coaster is very long for a water slide.

Giraffica never reopened following the Shoot the Rapids incident at Cedar Point. Its removal was quietly announced that off-season. https://www.holidayworld.com/holiblog/2014/04/17/wisdom-sir-isaac/ I'm really excited for Cheetah Chase next season. It looks like it will use ProSlide's newer RocketBlast water jet technology in place of the LIM propulsion on Mammoth and Wildebeest. Considering it will also introduce ProSlide's flying saucer elements and the first launch on a water coaster, it should be a really unique addition.
