  1. If you haven't yet used your pass this season, they might waive the replacement fee. Wouldn't hurt to ask. This is generally for guests who renew, but misplace their plastic card over the off-season.
  2. The pager system at RHOFG was working on my last visit to the park (on April 30). We ordered & picked a table, then a server brought our food over within 5 minutes. If the RFID reader under the table doesn't pick up the pager, they should be able to make it light up. It is a brand new system, so technical issues might not be fully resolved yet.
  3. Though you do have to register for the event before the deadline, which has already passed for Coasterstock 2017. Many attendees are glad to talk about the park and/or their coaster club(s), if you see them around the park during the event. There will probably be a KIC meetup as well at some point, for both Coasterstock participants and those just visiting the park. Watch this thread, KIC social media channels, and Coasterstock social media channels for details.
  4. It's absolutely heartbreaking that a young girl lost her life. Though the circumstances here are much different, many will recall the tragedy in Australia last year when a raft flipped over on the rapids ride at Dreamworld. The facts do indeed seem to indicate rider error, but added restraints and additional safety instructions seem certain after an incident like this. From photos and video of the ride online, it appears that Splash Canyon lacked seatbelts, which many other rapids rides (including White Water Canyon) already have. It's very unfortunate that not everyone respects the rules necessary to stay safe around dynamic amusement rides.
  5. Horrible news out of the UK today; an 11-year-old girl has passed away after "falling into the water" on the Splash Canyon (Intamin) rapids ride. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/3519471/drayton-manor-theme-park-girl-dead-splash-canyon/
  6. There might be 30 guest cars in the lot. Maybe.
  7. Current wait times: none
  8. Settlement total nearly $20M. http://www.kansascity.com/news/local/article148513129.html
  9. Coaster club members - don't miss your chance to take part in one of the year's most anticipated coaster events. Coasterstock ticket sales and registration end this Sunday, May 7 at midnight. Highlights of the two-day event include hours of exclusive ride time (ERT) on many of the park's signature attractions (including Mystic Timbers), catered lunch & dinner, FunPix photo passes, exclusive guest speakers, behind-the-scenes photo opportunities, and more. Coasterstock is an event you don't want to miss Like The Beast, Mystic Timbers is a completely different animal after dark. Coasterstock is your chance to get as many legendary night rides as you can handle. Beyond riding opportunities, participants are engaged with the park in unique ways throughout the 30-hour event. Learn stories behind the park, take photos behind-the-scenes, and take advantage of Q&A opportunities at meals and on tours. Coasterstock is also great for meeting members of your coaster club and other like-minded fans of the park. Compete in the second-annual Coasterstock scavenger hunt for a chance to win great prizes and test your park knowledge. Check out the Coasterstock 2017 thread to see who's going and for previous discussion of the event. Purchasing tickets For Kings Island gold & Cedar Fair platinum passholders, your $39 ticket includes your event credential, access to all scheduled activities, catered lunch & dinner, the official event t-shirt, and unlimited FunPix digital photos. For those without a pass, your $79 ticket adds park admission both days. Visit the Coasterstock page on visitkingsisland.com to sign up, and be sure to complete both steps of the registration process. Coaster club memberships Those wishing to attend Coasterstock need to be an active member of an approved coaster club. Each attendee's membership card (from the club selected at purchase) will be verified at check-in. Anyone needing to renew or join should do so before purchasing their ticket. If you're not sure which to join, check out this thread for discussion about specific clubs: https://KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/31061-coaster-clubs/
  10. The deadline is Sunday, May 7 at midnight. I wouldn't recommend waiting until the last minute in case of technical problems.
  11. As many of you noticed, KIC was down from 3:47am until about 8:30am this morning. Thanks to those who sent me text messages alerting me to the problem, and sorry for the inconvenience. EDIT: We restored from a 2:00am backup; there was a security issue with a WordPress plugin that we didn't catch. A robot exploiting the bug attempted to modify JavaScript files to redirect traffic to a third party advertising server. Our security setup blocked that from happening, but the site did break as a result. Everything should be fixed now. Thanks for your patience.
  12. Good day to visit. Mystic Timbers ~45 minutes, Diamondback ~30 minutes, Beast ~20 minutes, Racer ~5 minutes.
  13. Span still standing after 3rd blast. http://www.fox19.com/story/35286684/watch-live-old-jeremiah-morrow-bridge-implosion

    Question

Just to add, online tickets can be re-printed through the online store, which you can find at https://cf-ki.secure.accesso.com/ (Menu->Order Lookup). If you lost a paper ticket purchased at the front gate, replacing it might not be possible. In that case, you'd want to call the park.
  15. I'll keep that in mind if I'm planning something that involves you. Unfortunately, working around multiple people's work schedules, spending full day(s) at parks, and getting full nights of sleep are sometimes mutually exclusive.
  16. ^ Transactions at the registers were going very slow, seemingly a combination the cashier training in progress and school groups disproportionately using cash and/or special Group Sales vouchers. The unused (yet staffed) register allocated to drinks should have taken the overflow from the food line. Leaving customers with cold pizza after standing in a ~30 minute line wasn't ideal. The problem today seemed to be mainly during the lunch rush after 12:00. Food lines were much shorter (or nonexistent) at other times of the day.
  17. Park closed early due to incoming weather.
  18. The bridge will be closed from 5am-11am this morning. Implosion at 7:15. Public asked to stay away. http://www.daytondailynews.com/news/local/things-know-about-implosion-ohio-highest-bridge/dDiQ82EdkcJW4qgZzwJ4FL/
  19. Since a few guests invariably forget to check the park calendar before planning a visit: Just a heads up that Kings Island is closed tomorrow, Sunday, April 23, 2017 for a private event.
  20. Glad to hear that affected rides are coming back online.
  21. ^ If they'd close early, you'd get a raincheck good for another admission, which isn't super helpful when the cost of getting there is more than that of a ticket.
  22. VR would seem to kill the advantage of being on the world's tallest Drop Tower. With a phone strapped to your face, might as well be riding a much shorter one.
  23. If temperatures will only get into the 60s, Soak City generally doesn't open to begin with. Unless it's a gold pass preview weekend for a new ride, in which case they might open Soak City at 57° with rain.
