  1. Cedar Point has updated the HalloWeekends page with daytime activities. New this year, several rides are joining in the fun with special theming - including a challenge from Mine Ride to our very own Mystic Timbers. A toned-down version of the Hexed Haunt maze will also be open during the day. https://www.cedarpoint.com/halloweekends/great-pumpkin-fest
  2. I'm not sure where you heard that, but things didn't go badly on Banshee's Media Day. The issue is that it drew a lot of people, and there weren't room for nearly that many at Mystic Timbers Media Day. ACE is the largest and most-active club, so their members got the invitation. Kings Island has a good relationship with most coaster clubs. ACE, GOCC, Coaster Crew, CoasterBuzz and Club TPR have all held events at the park over the past several years. The decision was made to concentrate enthusiast ERT into two events this year (Coasterstock and National Roller Coaster Day), which is why you aren't seeing more club-sponsored events at KI. All the aforementioned clubs have been invited to Coasterstock each year.
  3. An added benefit for for those purchasing FunPix with their 2018 pass:
  4. ^ Indeed, the page (but not the URL) has been updated to reference the new scare zone. It's happened before; "Mysteria" remained in the URL for Board to Death through last season.
  5. The park confirmed that Kings Island isn't one of the Cedar Fair parks offering the Pre-K pass for 2018.
  6. Free water cups at Kings Island are now 12oz.
  7. If you have a strong sense of smell, you may notice the distinctive aroma of a chlorinated water ride as you pass over the reservoir.
  8. We do have the random gaming thread, but the Cedar Fair/Frontier Developments partnership deserves its own thread. I have yet to play Planet Coaster, but having in-game replicas of Cedar Fair coaster(s) is exciting news indeed!
  9. These sorts of marketing calls usually aren't scams, but they're never good deals either. A "free" cruise or hotel stay might require paying fees and/or attending high-pressure sales pitches (eg. for a timeshare). If you jump through all the hoops, the cruise or stay you get probably wouldn't be worth much. I've fielded plenty of these calls, though I hang up immediately. I never enter contests unless I've read the rules and am okay with receiving marketing from the sponsoring company. Are you sure this call was in response to the contest you entered from the display at Kings Island?
  10. Counting my visits, I realized that I could buy this for less than the menu cost of the food I'm redeeming at Cedar Fair parks this season with the dining plan. Potential justification for really frequent visitors, perhaps.
  11. When renewal perks were first offered in fall 2014, the free Sunday Fast Lane Plus was good after Labor Day. It was expanded to include late summer Sundays in later years, though it's now back to the fall season only. I always redeem mine on the Sunday that was Closing Day - now the last operating day before WinterFest. Short waits for rides, followed by night ERT for renewing passholders, makes for a great end to the coaster season.
  12. ^ Or Kings Island didn't want their news buried on Cedar Point's big day.
  13. Cedar Point has it as well, valid at both CP and CP Shores. It's a great deal to let families get their kids hooked early. Planet Snoopy at Kings Island is very well attended and has lots of rides for that age range, so the offer might not make as much sense here.
  14. Agreed; I combined the other posts into this thread, to keep them organized. At $500, I probably won't buy it. My use of it would be limited when I would visit the park with people who hadn't purchased Fast Lane. I also visit a lot of parks, so spending that much to skip lines at just one (even my favorite one) is hard to justify. For people who would buy Fast Lane Plus six or more times a season, it's a fantastic value.
  15. Carowinds has announced 6 new attractions for their kids area, newly renamed to Camp Snoopy from Planet Snoopy. Being added are: Camp Bus (Zamperla Crazy Bus) Peanuts Trailblazers (themed Whip) Kite Eating Tree (Frog Hopper) Pig Pen's Mud Buggies (Zamperla Jump Around) Woodstock Whirlybirds (Teacups) Beagle Scout Acres (kids' play/climbing area with slides and interactive features) Several older rides area leaving Planet Snoopy, to be relocated elsewhere in the park or to other parks. Woodstock Gliders (KI's Flying Eagles) are being relocated to make room for Camp Snoopy rides; whether they're staying at Carowinds has yet to be announced. 16. That's not true. It was closed yesterday and today, but it was operating on Saturday. I haven't heard why it's down, but some maintenance issues can take awhile (eg. if they need a part). Hopefully it's back up soon.
  17. ^ Thanks. Another 4.2 upgrade thing broke threads with embedded polls. Theme change: - {$pollForm->customTemplate( array( \IPS\Theme::i()->getTemplate( 'global', 'core', 'global' ), 'pollForm' ), $url )|raw} + {$pollForm->customTemplate( array( \IPS\Theme::i()->getTemplate( 'global', 'core', 'global' ), 'pollForm' ), $url, $poll )|raw}
  18. That was an issue with the KICentral Dark theme. It's fixed now; thanks for the heads up.
  19. There is apparently an issue that signing into the forum with Tapatalk doesn't work. We'll have that fixed shortly. (EDIT: fixed as of 11:16am) I fixed the display issue, but I haven't had time to look into the tagging issue yet.
  20. Unfortunately, digital virtual queuing systems are something of a patent minefield. https://www.google.com/patents/US6173209 https://www.google.com/patents/US7532941 https://www.google.com/patents/US6889900 https://www.google.com/patents/US8075413
  21. ^ The reactions feature was introduced in the InvisionPower 4.2 update. I had it on briefly while testing it, but I'm not sure whether we will use it or not. That's a question for Dane. Reactions expands the "like" feature to include responses like "haha" and "sad". Some message boards have had it for a long time, but it's becoming more popular since Facebook added it to their platform last year.
  22. The problem with "likes" and the formatting issues should be fixed. Let us know if you find anything else.
  23. The issues with searching and with "like" votes should resolve themselves automatically, once automated database updates are complete. Either Dane or I will get the formatting glitches fixed sometime tonight or in the morning. In short, the latest InvisionPower upgrade contains style changes that require margin and border sizes in the theme to be updated.
  24. ^ Very cool; Kings Dominion certainly has a lot of acreage to play with. I was only 7 when Lion Country Safari closed, so my first-hand memories are faint. It's hard to imagine an expansive zoo in the park's post-Lindner footprint. Evolving standards in animal exhibit design probably would have stretched the area well beyond its 100 acres, had it remained over the years. If you have time and want to send me pictures that got lost (via Google Drive, flickr, Dropbox, sftp/rsync, physical flash drive, etc), I can run a script to automatically upload them and fix your posts.
