  1. The park name (Gyeongju World) is shown on the sticker in the picture above. Perhaps it's not worth the effort to substitute X-Works for international parks? Most regulars know this, but for anyone new reading this thread: Clermont Steel has a good relationship with enthusiasts, so take care not to don't do anything stupid (i.e. trespassing) if you stop by.
  2. The dinos were leased from a Canadian exhibition company, originally under a revenue sharing agreement. Presumably their fate is up to that company.
  3. ^ SkyRider is now open at a park in Italy. Sadly, Shockwave at Kings Dominion wasn't lucky enough to find a buyer. The discussion and relocation of the ride was discussed here: https://kicentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/30158-skyrider-up-for-sale/
  4. I agree with Avatar and standbyme: I like the woods. A giga in that location would require a lot of clear cutting, so I'd prefer other uses for this land. Walking though the woods adds a dimension to haunted attractions that's hard to replicate; see Trail of Terror and Tombstone Terror-tory. Perhaps we'll see something similar return to this path in a future Haunt season Cedar Point can't make more land, but they have a lot to work with. Keep in mind that they've been "running out of space" since before Millennium Force. Kings Island isn't going to become the new Cedar Point, and that's a very good thing! Though a giga at KI would be great, there are plenty of ways to build awesome coasters without breaking the 300ft mark.
  5. I did the same thing for a few visits after I left my pass in @acole5292 's car on the way back from Thrills in the Hills. The digital pass should scan everywhere a plastic pass would.
  6. Moved the meetup discussion into its own thread: https://kicentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/33168-haunt-opening-night-sep-22/
  7. ^ I'd recommend trying with a different browser (Chrome, Firefox or Edge). Since it's not working for an extended period of time, the problem is most likely on your end. Testing with other browsers is a quick way to narrow down potential causes of the problem. The park doesn't release a definitive playlist that you can access, but I'd recommend starting with one of the Spotify playlists in this thread and adding songs as needed.
  8. Personally, I use Google Sound Search and/or Shazam to identify music and keep a record of songs I want to find later. I don't know why you wouldn't have been able to create a Spotify account, though I'd suggest trying again. It could have been a temporary error. We actually have a recent thread about the songs that play at the park, including Spotify playlists. That topic is here: https://kicentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/32796-kings-island-music I'm locking this thread so that we don't have a duplicate. Feel free to post in the other thread if you have more questions or want to add songs you've heard. Welcome to KIC, by the way!
  9. Since it was so long, I split the discussion about the change to music on International Street into its own thread. The topic about pop music returning late this season is here: https://kicentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/33164-pop-music-back-on-international-street/
  10. Welcome to KIC; best wishes to you and the baby! The "No Boos" sold throughout the park are necklaces with a flashing light, signaling monsters roaming the park to stay away. They're not intended to use inside the Haunt mazes, which are designed to startle and frighten. Many contain tight spaces, loud noises, strobe lighting, and complete darkness; doing them while pregnant wouldn't be recommended. You should definitely make a point to visit next season to experience all the rides and haunted attractions. If you plan to visit Kings Island more than once in 2018, you might want to consider purchasing a gold pass this fall. A new 2018 gold pass includes one free admission this year, so you wouldn't have to worry about spending money on a ticket that you couldn't take full advantage of.
  11. Coney Potato Works never seemed to get a long wait, so it was my go-to spot when lines at other food stands were long. Hopefully the gluten free options move elsewhere in the park!
  12. I visited Cedar Point yesterday for Opening Night of HalloWeekends. Crowds were relatively light, noticeably more-so than during Mean Streak's funeral last year. With lots of KIC'ers and other familiar faces at the park, it was a great night to be there. At rope drop for Early Entry, I met up with @acole5292, @chugh43 and @pianoman for rides on Valravn, Millennium Force and Maverick before the park opened. At 6:00pm, the first order of business was riding Cedar Creek Mystic Mine Ride, catching the second-ever public train. We all loved the new logo. Fans of Kings Island will get a kick out of #WhatsInTheShed. I won't spoil it here, but be on the lookout for plenty of nods to Mystic Timbers. While it's not very elaborate (we're talking about Mine Ride, after all), it was better than I thought it would be! We then got a few more rides (Magnum, front seat on TTD, Blue Streak) and a dining plan meal before meeting up with @XGatorHead 8904, "Mama", and @rotag . Everyone wanted to do a Haunt maze, so we went to G.A. Boeckling's Erie Estate. With the line wrapped around the building (no switchbacks), we waited 50 minutes at 8:10pm. This is one of the park's better mazes, and capacity is relatively low, so it's usually one of the longer waits. The maze itself seemed well-staffed; they made a few of us jump. We gave acole5292 a bit of a hard time for sitting out the maze at last year's meetup, prompting the host to yell "Adam's coming" into the maze as we entered. Fortunately for Adam, none of the actors trying to scare Adam managed to find him in the group. Gator and his group split off after the maze to go eat, and the four of us met up with Jarred Bour-Jones so that acole5292 could convince his friend Larry to do mazes. Instead, Adam and Larry pulled an @ohiocolts, ditching the rest of us to ride stuff while we did mazes. After being spoiled by the superior Blackout maze at KI, our one disappointment of the night was the new Deprivation maze. This is located in the building in Steel Vengence's midfield, where Eden Musse was formerly located. To keep capacity up, it's divided into thirds, of which each group navigates only one. The result is a short maze with very few scares other than being in total darkness. To its credit, it's darker inside than Blackout, and some very cool views of Steel Vengeance are available from the queue. We skipped the other new maze, Fearground Freakshow, opting to do a few night rides instead. We made plans to meet up with @aandjgoods there at the end of the night to walk through and get LROTNOM. This was a very good decision, as there was no line for either the maze or Maverick by 11:45pm. At some point we caught part of the Skeleton Crew show, enjoying the Rola Bolla act from this year's Origins show at KI. Eternity Infirmary was getting tired in recent seasons, so I was glad to see that maze get refreshed. Fearground Freakshow is very similar in theme to the former Carnevil scare zone in Camp Snoopy. After the let down at Deprivation, I was pleasantly surprised with this one. I especially appreciated how some scenes take advantage of the building's high ceiling. It fits the circus theme very well. All-in-all, it was a very enjoyable start to HalloWeekends. We unfortunately didn't end up seeing Midnight Syndicate (which was very good in 2014), but we had a great time hanging out and got a lot done. Now, on to Kings Island's Haunt kickoff next weekend!
  13. Saturdays during HalloWeekends are usually busy. September should be better than October, though. Several people from KIC will be there this (first) weekend of HalloWeekends, including @acole5292, @chugh43, @pianoman and others. I'll be there, but probably only on Friday.
  14. The Columbus Dispatch is reporting that a 2005 Ohio law may shield the ride manufacturer from liability in this case, as it limits liability for product defects to 10 years. http://www.dispatch.com/news/20170912/ohio-law-may-shield-fire-ball-manufacturer-in-fatal-fair-accident

    Haunt

Haunt isn't intended for young children, but it's ultimately up to parents to decide what is or isn't appropriate for their child. Some kids grasp what's real and what's pretend earlier than others. Around the park, be aware of theatrical fog, strobe lighting, loud music, and roaming scare actors. As it can be hard to see where you're going on the dark and foggy midways, caution would be advised if planning to bring young children. The haunted attractions themselves are designed to be scary, and some contain mature themes.
  16. Mantis was regularly trimmed on the first drop, but I have yet to experience it turned on while riding Rougarou.
  17. Welcome to KIC! Best of luck in your audition, and hope you have fun working Haunt. For future reference, we're a forum primarily for fans to discuss the park. Some employees hang out here and are happy to share their thoughts, but questions about employment are usually best directed at the park. I'm locking this thread since it has been answered. Just adding, park police & security control the entrance from One Team Way. Only current employees and others directed to enter that way should go there.
  18. ^ I know you're joking, but... The study of climate change looks at long term averages, rather than at weather extremes. Leaving politics aside, here's a quick refresher on climate vs. weather: https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/noaa-n/climate/climate_weather.html Sunday and Monday are shaping up to be great weather to end the season with!
  19. I was originally hoping to head down for some wet zen rides, but staffing the park for six hours tonight wouldn't have made much sense. Disappointing, perhaps, for the few hundred guests who might have braved Harvey's remnants. Since cool, wet & foggy nights are ideal Beast-riding weather (in my opinion at least), I'll try to visit Haunt at least one rainy night this year to make up for it!
  20. I remember that we asked at Reds Grille that visit (P&G Day in 2015), and they said it was valid. With the change to only being valid when the pass is used for admission, it's highly doubtful that it would work now. Season passes are specifically excluded from entry on buy-out days.
  21. Crowds are notoriously hard to forecast. For what it's worth, the one year I went to Holiday World on Labor Day, it was pretty empty. Labor Day weekend tends to be one of the less busy summer weekends at parks, hence promotions like Dollar Days and bring-a-friend discounts. In the case of Kings Island, the popularity of Dollar Days has made it a rather crowded weekend in recent years.
  22. While very few people would choose whether to visit Kings Island based on the music selection, it certainly impacts the overall park atmosphere. Venues put a lot of thought into what music they play, as getting it right has a measurable effect on how long customers stay and how they feel about their experience. Such factors directly impact sales, return visits, etc. Many of us, myself included, have enjoyed the majestic atmosphere, better enhanced with classical music than with the latest hits from Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber. Guests should definitely let the park know how they feel, as customer feedback is an important part of their decision making process. On the topic of International Street ambience, I'd love to see the food and merchandise selection there evolve as well. Walking along International Street this season has put me in the mood for things that simply aren't available for purchase there.
  23. Friday will be less crowded than the rest of Labor Day weekend. I visited on that day once, and it wasn't packed. Monday has historically been less crowded than Saturday or Sunday of that weekend, so you may luck out. Crowds are difficult to forecast on any particular day. For those planning to take advantage of Dollar Days, I'd recommend getting the $1 specials early in the day to avoid the longest lines. For those who value their time in the park, waiting a long time for a deal can negate the cost savings.
  24. Dane and Oldiesmann are correct. The reputation score is the number of "like" votes (and, as of the latest forum software release, "HaHa" and "Thanks" reactions) your posts have received.
  25. Really sorry your family got sick! It's very hard to pinpoint the source of foodborne illness, but if it happened recently, be sure to report it to the park and/or the county health department if you think it happened there.
