As a resident of Kentucky, and a taxpayer I am against this 100%. Sure it would be nice for the park to open and somehow actually MAKE money. Just not for the taxpayers to foot the bill and risk failure. Nothing more than another useless "Bailout" in my mind. However, being a resident of this state, it will not surprise me AT ALL to see this get approved and the money handed over.

10 trips over the summer, most of them with the wife and kids. Best memory is the excitement in my son's eyes during his first Beast ride. Vortex and Racer rides with him follow, nothing like a 6 year old screaming wooooooo while cresting the second large hill on Racer He doesn't wanna ride Drop Tower a second time though, lol. I also got over my fear of tall coasters and wanting to close my eyes on the drops. I'll never forget the horrible morning/afternoon spent watching the rain come POURING down and the rides parked The skies cleared by evening though and we got to ride to our hearts content. I also met Purplehaze (very nice person) that evening and took my first ride on Drop Tower. All in all in was great summer and I look forward to plenty more. I was very happy to take part in the Coasting for Kids Event and look forward to the next.

Most everything at the Fairgrounds is ridiculously priced nowadays. The midway was empty the day we went to the fair. Which was nice in a way, no ghetto thugs were roaming around and no one was assaulted. Compare that to last year's mess and I loved the fair last week.

I understand what you mean...but....if they add more lame water attractions, it won't be the same park, lol. Honestly, if the park is hoping for state funds to open the park, it will probably be a tough sell. The cuts Terp has mentioned are painful, not to mention the state is putting all it's efforts towards BRAC and Ft Knox. As a taxpayer I don't feel that my money should go to a small Amusement Park while so many are losing money and work anyways.

GL is one of the few rides that still looks pretty good.

I say attendance was way down. We went last Friday, the free concert barely had a crowd at all, they are normally packed to over crowding. The midway was all but dead, and some of the rides were just duplicates, 2 Delirium type rides, a Matterhorn and a Himalaya, etc. They had a Mouse, exact copy of the one located at a park in Bowling Green. It was my first ever ride on a Mouse and I will admit, I loved it. My entire time on the midway though, my eyes were drawn to the run down amusement park next door Very sad sight. This KK thing is a complete mess and as said before, I highly doubt anything will happen to the park. Except of course for it eventual razing. The economy in this state is a sinking ship as it is. Giving the park owners money while sending Police and other workers home would be a travesty.

Crypt was closed all day yesterday (SUNDAY) while I was there, 10:45 to 6:30.

^^ I agree, mainly because I do not really care for water parks AT ALL. Sure, I'll ride some water rides at a park but can do without tubes and slides. Just not my thing, if I wanna get wet I'll jump in a swimming pool. Preferably one not filled with hundreds of other people whose hygiene I know NOTHING about. Especially children, I wash my kids clothes, it takes YEARS for someone to learn how to properly wipe

To be honest, I don't want to. People may not like the park, I myself hadn't been there since 1990, but it is sad to see stuff neglected like that. Especially that big Ferris Wheel just sitting there, something many parks are sadly lacking. Could tell from the fencing along Crittenden that people have been entering the park of their own accord. I'm sure vandalism has affected lots of the park as well.

Lightning does quite a number on it though. As for this topic, while going up the tower yesterday the op was talking about the ride. He said it is painted every 2 years and that cost is about the same as building the tower in 72 was.

On track??? I looked at the place Friday while at the State Fair. There appears to be NOTHING going on to have the place ready in what 7 months. I saw lots of dirt and rusty neglected rides everwhere. It is a sad sight indeed, especially viewed from Crittenden and those ugly twins and ran down busted up fencing. I don't believe a word he says at this point.

I love going to KI and became a fan THIS year. My entire family has passes and we eat and buy merch in the park every visit. Tomorrow I will ride Crypt to see what all the fuss is about.

Yup and lots of people go to the park expecting to ride it. When exiting AE last weekend the people behind us said, "Let's ride Racer real quick before meeting the guys at Son of Beast"

I thought it closed earlier late in the season because the kids are back in school. Most of the temp employees are high school kids that have homework to do, go to bed, etc.

Just because someone can't ride things they shouldn't go up in the Tower? What kind of logic is that? You go up the tower to view the park from that height. What difference does it make if someone looking can ride the rides or not, lol.

Do you really have to ask They are complaining because it isn't a Coaster. It isn't even built yet and no one has ridden it, yet they all just KNOW it is gonna suck, lol. Reactions are pretty tame here compared to the crap being spewed on Facebook.

Only bad thing about this new ride. All the boo hooing from Coaster freaks.
