  1. I knew you would say something about Six Flags! Any other comments? And please watch my video, I spent a lot of time on it and this report!

    Chicago

Hey KIC members and lurkers! I would like to tell you the story of an amazing city, better than New York, L.A., and even Cincinnati (sorry, home city). Chicago is its name, and as I am typing this I am already missing it. Stay here to read and if you don't care about a stupid city, then leave. Getting into Chicago on June 22, you could see the Willis (formerly Sears) Tower from about 15 miles out. Getting in closer, the humungous skyline amazed me. As you drive into the city, you may cross over a bridge above the Chicago River. This area is like Rome but inside a modern city. It is one area you shall not miss out on if you ever visit. The Willis Tower Skydeck was the scariest thing I have ever done. I may be able to ride roller coasters, but being 1,400 feet high makes me cringe. On this deck they have glass boxes that go out about 5 feet out of the building, so you can look straight down at the ground - basically floating in mid air it feels like. My mom had to push me out on it...stupid fear of heights. I recommend all of you to sometime in your life go to this observation deck. Write it on your bucket list - now! The architecture and art in Chicago is old, modern, and just plain weird. Some areas are still there after the Chicago Fire, such as the water tower at Water Tower Place mall. Some buildings that were built any time after the 80s remind you of some future city from the 2500s. And, some, well, some...just don't make any sense (such as a building that goes up, then goes out). Remember how cities are cities? Well, not Chicago. The parks in Chicago are huge (and better than Central Park, in my opinion). Millennium Park is an addition in 2001. It includes an amphitheater where orchestras and jazz bands play, a big brick wall with a human face on it that spits out water, and a flower garden. Just across the street is Grant Park, where the Taste of Chicago was held when I was there. Spread throughout the city are nice little playgrounds, paths, and green spaces. Food. Ahhh, food. Italian, Mexican, American, Mediterranean...even a restaurant that sells pig ears and head cheese. The best food I've ever had and some of the best steaks ever is at The Saloon Steakhouse - recommended dining from me. Every block you will find at least four restaurants, ranging from fast food like McDonalds and Subway to fine dining. Please, please, please visit Chicago someday. The city is full of beautiful buildings, clean streets (sometimes), and great attractions. Additional note: Something I really noticed is the safety. Two police are at every street crossing - so you feel at your safest when walking through the city. And, to show you all what I have described, a music video I have put together with the song "Mr. Blue Sky".
  3. That's reasonable. Now, if she was in line for The Beast and had said that, well, she needs to read up some more on the Internet.
  4. Yes, it is. But the anchors said the announcement after that clip.
  5. Sorry, I don't have a link. Once they were done talking about WindSeeker the anchors said "and Kings Island is also going to announce something in August." I know it may seem like I'm trying to get attention, but this is real!
  6. On WLWT at 5 they were talking about WindSeeker being open, then after this they said "and the park plans on announcing a new attraction in August, along with a Dinosaurs Alive! expansion". It seems like only WLWT said that.....
  7. They haven't been blaming it on the weather for two months. They're testing the ride now, all they have to say is "once testing is done, the ride will open."
  8. Because they did that already (April 30) and it was wrong. They probably won't want to risk that again.
  9. ........... That....sounds....interesting.....
  10. Kings Island does work on The Beast though. There's not much you can do to make a 32 year old wooden roller coaster smoother, unless you completley destroy the thing and build it again...which will never happen.
  11. My very first roller coaster was actually Backlot. So I have some experience! First of all, the overall ride isn't that intense. The only part that might scare your daughter is the launch, because you get very dizzy at the top of the helix. The rest of the ride is fun and exciting. The indoor part isn't that bad at all, just a few turns and hills. The ride is slower than Flight Deck, and a lot shorter, so I would think she would love it. Good luck getting her to ride!
  12. Alright, honestly, it does look fun. Not scary, but fun. I know, I have mixed feelings...originally I thought it looked terrible, but now it looks fun. Now I'm getting excited for it!
  13. Once again, I chose Flight of Fear. One reason is the movie needs fixing. When it says "there's people in there!" and it shows the queue line, half the time it's empty. It makes for an awkward moment....
  14. Kings Island tweeted this. Seems like it's closer than you guys think.
  15. The Racer still gives Coney Mall the old-time amusement park look. If it leaves, there will be so much lost out of Coney Mall!
  16. Were they broken, or were you just trying to operate them too fast? You can only operate one "system" at a time. Once you press a button, you have to wait until a couple of seconds after the light on that button goes out before any of the other buttons will work. That may have been what the problem was!
  17. I forgot to mention that in my posts. Instead of the noise coming out of the mouth, you see a huge surround system (exaggeration) disguised as a rock. A rock.
  18. There have been many reviews about DA! - I know, I know - but this is my review! I have a few pictures to show but they are rotated (because of the way my phone takes them) but they are good quality. I went to DA! back on Sunday, but just thought about posting a review now! REVIEW: Heading into DA! I thought it looked pretty cool, with the start dinosaur "The Irritator". But I went straight into the park and was told to buy the tickets in the big tent. In my opinion, they should make a sign that says "Buy Tickets Here". After we bought the tickets (no movie) we went straight in. For the first few dinosaurs you pass, it's not that great. You can still hear the amusement park, and the dinosaurs were pretty small. Most of the "make it move" podiums were broken, and there weren't much trees or grass. Eventually, though, you come across the major scenes, which are really cool! The dinosaurs' animatronics were really good, almost as good as Disney World. Every part of their body moved. You can even see the dinos breathing. Sometimes, a dinosaur's tail would whack a tree - making it that more realistic. Once you get far into the park, all noise is quiet and all you hear are dinosaurs roars....and a tiger and an elephant. BAD BAD move Kings Island. Only one though (which is good) has this. A dinosaur sounds like an ELEPHANT. And one sounds like a TIGER. Really? It kind of gave away the whole ancient dinosaur atmosphere and made it feel more like the African savannah, but oh well. Some scenes showed dinosaurs eating other dinosaurs, with blood and everything. These were my favorite parts of the walk. The T-Rex fight wasn't really as good as thought it'd be, because all there was was a bunch of dinosaurs lined up in a row. But they were ginormous and I just had to say, "Woah." Throughout the park there are signs full of a ton of info talking about each and every dinosaur. There are stats about its weight and height, its location, and what it eats (carnivore, herbiove, omnivore.) Suggestions for future expansions: If they expanded, they need to add more dinosaurs in between the spaces of other dinosaurs. There is plenty of feet to walk from one dino to the next. Add jungle-type music in the background or maybe even some jungle birds. That would make the theme even better. Dig some fake lakes/ponds and maybe even possibly add a water dinosaur. Fake palm trees, tropical plants, vegetation, etc. Overall, Dinosaurs Alive! was a great experience and would be even better for my five year old sister. Yes, there is room for more, and some changes should be made, but overall I would give it a 9/10. Edit: for some reason, I cannot post pictures and whenever I try to post the topic, it says "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this board." What does that mean?!?
  19. I can't say how crowded any day will be. I went on a Friday/Saturday in late August last year, hoping there to be no crowds (because most people were in school) but it ended up being a packed day!
  20. Miley Cyrus....why? And, of course, they do have to use Fireflies. It just makes since with fireworks!
  21. Possibly just another expansion to DA! in the future. I can tell they will add more as the years go on. In my opinion, there was so much space leftover and so much space between dinosaurs that they could make a whole museum out that area!
  22. Based on the POV, I can almost follow through with my opinion that this ride is no more than a kiddie ride 300 feet in the air. I know, I know, I will get you guys picking at me because I haven't been on it yet, but honestly - does it look that thrilling?
  23. I'm having a hard time believing these ride counts........
