  1. Personally I don't think Invertigo is worth a long wait; if it's under 25-30 minutes or so, okay. It's a fun coaster but I only go on it if it's a shorter wait, which is still longer than some coasters because of its single train. With FoF, I feel like it's worth the wait, plus most of the line is indoors, so on hot days it's nice to have a break from the heat while you wait. As far as the coasters themselves, let me say this: my mom is a big chicken when it comes to rides, but Invertigo and FoF are the two coasters she loves. Once I got her on them, she was hooked. As long as you're okay with going upside down several times and don't mind a little jerkiness/roughness, you should be fine. I notice I do get a little dizzy once FoF stops sometimes, but other than that it doesn't bother me.
  2. I read them ages ago when I was in grade school and I loved them. I've still got them shoved in an old bookcase somewhere.
  3. Hello fellow Fairfield-ian! I've never noticed any big swarms of bees there but I'll be paying more attention this year. I never seem to get through a summer without a sweat bee sting, though.
  4. I'm nowhere near your height/weight specifications, but I just wanted to chip in my two cents on Firehawk - I've never felt truly 'secured' in that ride, even though I clearly am. I imagine most coasters of that type are similar in feeling (having never ridden any others I wouldn't know for sure), but I always feel weird during that ride, always feel like I'm seconds away from falling out because of the whole lying on your stomach, weight baring down on the restraints sensation. The only way I got over that was to ride it more. It doesn't freak me out as much as it used to. Diamondback still unnerves me a bit as well, but I've finally gotten to a point where I can hold my hands up on the hills.
  5. We always have to get our ice cream at some point (blue for me, choc/vanilla twist for my mom), and she always insists on riding Monster with me. Other than that, I don't think we really have any.
  6. Smurf, thanks for posting that recipe site, I've been looking for new healthier meal ideas! Gets so boring making the same things over and over. Good luck on your weight loss goals. I lost 34 pounds last year and have gained about 10 back. I have to admit, KI is one factor that makes me determined to not put all my weight back on. I would be heartbroken to not be able to ride my favorite rides.
  7. The drop was by far my favorite part. The loop was great, too.
  8. I'm not a fan of the restraints, and I miss the old working theming elements. IMHO, I don't think it's worth the wait, unless you've never ridden it and just want to experience it. I never go on it unless someone I'm with wants to.
  9. The only one coming to mind is The Crypt. Was great as TR, but yeah. I'm sure there are others but nothing is coming to mind right now.
  10. I remember noting that last year it seemed like many of the days I wound up going, they weren't even using them - most were roped off and the ones that weren't didn't seem to be manned. I'm on both sides of the fence with the issue as well, but if they weren't that strong to begin with, who knows how much protection they were actually offering.
  11. The Keelboats would've gotten my vote as well if they were still around. I don't know that I prefer WWC or Congo Falls over the other. They're both nice when it's hot, but Congo Falls usually has a shorter wait.
  12. Like some have said, it's more about your body proportions than anything, as opposed to weight/size. With Vortex and Firehawk, it may be more challenging if you carry more weight in your chest/upper body, whereas the others it is more about your stomach and thighs. I was riding coasters when I was still a size 22 a few years ago, and I don't know where you carry your weight as opposed to me, but you will most likely be fine. All the best to you and have fun on your trip!
  13. The only time I had a short wait on Firehawk was during the latter end of the season, in August (when many of the kids start going back to school and the crowds are lighter on weekdays). Otherwise, like others have said, I'd advise trying to get in line as early as possible, especially if it's a hot day because that line is brutal in the sun. Hope you luck out and get to ride it!
  14. Vortex and Backlot are a bit uncomfortable, and The Racer gets to me, too, though not as bad as it used to. I'm not sure if that's from the seats though or just the ride itself.
  15. Skyline, and I love hanging out and having a cold one behind Outer Hanks in the beer garden (if it has a formal name I haven't bothered to remember it). I also enjoy a blue ice cream or a soft pretzel from time to time.
  16. The Paramount movie soundtracks definitely invoke KI memories, and I always strangely think of walking through International Street to the tune of the Indiana Jones theme. Top Gun songs for obvious reasons. There have been countless songs I remember listening to on the way to, or hearing in line from QTV, or even just songs I used to listen to to psyche myself up for riding rides that I was scared of.
  17. Wow, sad to to hear this news. I have many great memories of The Beach as a grade schooler and had looked forward to going back someday. I had heard it'd been going downhill but I didn't realize how much. It was always my favorite water park, even over Surf Cincinnati, which was very close by and frequented by me and my family. I would love to see it reopen in the future/be bought by someone else, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

    Favorite Ride

I don't know that I can pick just one overall, but my favorites are Diamondback, Delirium, and Viking Fury (when it's a full load and people actually get into the battle of the screams.)
  19. I do as well. Also, I could swear I've been barefoot while riding the Zephyr before. It's nice on WindSeeker, too.
  20. I can't say I'm sad to see it go, at least not as the ride it's become. If it were original incarnation of the ride, yes. What I really miss was the excitement of being in the line, waiting for the door to open, when all the lights would go out and the video screen came up...the effects were just incredible. I rode it last year and it was just sad, really. I feel for those of you who will miss it, though.
  21. I miss the atmosphere the most, but like many others have said I miss it all during the off season. Except for maybe Haunt, but that's only because I haven't been able to make it out to one yet. I'm already looking forward to the rides this year (and maybe finally psyching myself up to ride the only two I haven't braved yet.)
  22. Loved the ride itself, hated the pain from it. I almost greyed out on it at one point and don't miss the headaches it gave me. But I loved the hill and the loop, while it was still there.

    Giga or Eagles?

I went with Eagles just for nostalgia's sake. I wouldn't mind either, though.
  24. The first time I rode it, I just remember being proud that I finally "conquered" it, because until that day I was a total wuss when it came to coasters. The best ride I've ever had on it was a night ride several years ago, when I was still a teenager, and we dispatched out of the station just in time to enjoy the fireworks going off as we went up the lift hill. These days I still enjoy it, but it's getting more bothersome to me in terms of roughness. I've found I prefer the front seat.
  25. I only rode it twice, but I remember enjoying KC (and it also has a special place in my heart as it was my first "real" coaster). I especially remember enjoying the overall theming of the ride/area as well. The only other stand-up I've ridden is Mantis at CP, but I liked that one, too.
