I listen to most types of rock and alternative, pop, dance/electronica, and a little rap. I like a little bit of everything, though - I don't generally like country but I have a few songs on my iPod, etc. I like different types depending on my mood or what I'm doing. I also have a big soft spot for 80s and 90s music, since I grew up with it.

Those weeks in August should be great times to go - we usually always make a point to head up during one of them since many kids have started going back to school. Just stick to the weekdays. We are usually able to pretty much walk on most rides during that time.

Most Embarrasing Thing That Happened To You At KI
spitfire replied to KIMonster14's topic in Kings Island
I can't remember if it was last year or the year before, but I went up to buy a pretzel at one of the places in Action Zone. I had $6 on me, and was holding the wad of bills in my hand. The total came to like $5.06 or something, and I thought I had handed the cashier all six dollars. I apologized for not having 6 cents on me so he wouldn't have to give me so much change back. He looked at me funny and said I had to give him six cents and I couldn't figure out why - I thought he was telling me he didn't have enough change in the register to give me back 94 cents. Since I didn't have any pocket change, I just walked away embarrassed and tried to figure out why he couldn't break my six bucks. About ten minutes later I realized I'd only handed him $5 and had completely forgotten about the other dollar in my pocket, and felt even more stupid. I'm still a little mortified about that. -
Viking Fury, Monster, Zephyr, Boo Blasters, and Surf Dog. I've found a new appreciation for these rides in recent years.

VortexBFF's Very First Opening Day - April 27, 2013
spitfire replied to VortexBFForever's topic in Trip Reports
Nice TR! You've made me determined to take a night ride on AE this year; haven't done that in ages. -
1. That it's fairly close to get to for me 2. The rides 3. The scenery/layout/general beauty of the park 4. The memories I'll always treasure, and the ones I've yet to make 5. The food 6. Clean and generally safe 7. The employees, especially the ride operators who make the station waits fun and entertaining 8. The park's ability to make me forget any troubles while I'm there having a good time 9. The nighttime atmosphere, especially in Coney Mall 10. The general ambiance and energy of the park

AE was always my favorite growing up, but since it's no longer in its prime theme-wise, I gotta go with FoF. To me it does the best job of immersing you into the setting.

How long has it been since you've been to Kings Island?
spitfire replied to KIfan73's topic in Kings Island
Near the end of August for me. I'm getting antsy! -
My first ride was in 2003 I think, with one of my best friends. He'd convinced me to finally get up the nerve to ride The Vortex that day, since I didn't ride many of the coasters at that point. Once I rode it, I was hooked, so we proceeded to ride every coaster in the park that day. We barely made it before the line cutoff that night for FoF, and we waited for about an hour. It was worth it, though - the rush of the launch was awesome the first time (and still is, really).

That was the era that I really remember from my childhood at KI so thinking about it makes me very nostalgic. I miss the theming, the music, and the general ambience of the place then, as well as the rides that were there then (plus their original names). I have a lot of amazing memories with family, friends and classmates from that era. But I'm also happy with how certain things have changed since then and the direction the park seems to be moving in, for the most part. It's just nice to reminisce!

How Many Visits Did You Make to Kings Island in 2012?
spitfire replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
I believe it was 4 times last year. -
Most likely you'd find me either waiting for Diamondback or for any other coaster. That or behind Outer Hanks having a cold one - it's our favorite place to sit and take a break during the day.
-
I'd be fine with stores putting stuff up in November, but I wish they'd wait until after Thanksgiving to play Christmas music. I try to avoid listening to it until then.
-
I was not exactly a fan of Firehawk the first time I rode it because I didn't like how uncomfortable the restraints can be while on your stomach and how much you press against them during the ride. I felt really vulnerable. But now I love it, and found that the more I rode it, the more I got over that fear. Now I can enjoy the ride.

Diamondback's first drop, SOB's first drop, FOF's launch, The Beast's first lift hill, and I always liked the first little drop on Adventure Express as it turns you into the first tunnel. Also the last two inversions on Vortex.

While I didn't know Keith, it is truly heart-breaking to read such terrible news. My sympathies to his family and friends, both on and off the board, in this difficult time.
-
I can ride most coasters as many times as I feel like it, but I usually can't go more than once or twice in a row on Vortex or The Beast anymore. Didn't bother me as much when I was a teenager, but now even in my mid-twenties I don't love the headache I tend to get from them.
-
I was there on Tuesday and rode it, and it did seem like a shorter cycle, but I don't know if it actually was.
-
I've never grayed out on Invertigo, but I started to on SOB once. Sometimes on DB in the valleys between the first few hills I feel a little weird, but not every ride. An old friend that used to go with me all the time to KI would occasionally gray out on Invertigo, though. Bottom line, if you're concerned about it, it never hurts to play it safe and ask a doctor, but it seems to be a pretty normal occurrence. I feel staying hydrated and having at least a little food in your stomach before tackling the bigger, more forceful rides is always a good idea.
-
I would be happy with any kind of new coaster that is a type we don't have in the park yet. It would be nice to have something with some inversions, too, but really any type of different coaster would be cool.
-
I don't think I'd wait for any ride I've already been on for 2+ hours...if it were a new ride I hadn't been on, then maybe. The Beast in the dark is pretty amazing, but I still don't think I'd wait more than an hour for it, personally.
-
A little sad to see it go just because of the rides/memories I had on it, but glad to see an inevitable decision finally made. Looking forward to seeing what they'll eventually do with that space.

I went with WWC since it's something my whole family, regardless of our different thrill tolerances, can ride and also because you fit quite a few people in together.
