  1. When Banshee was built full timers throughout Kings Island got a chance to ride well before any media or employee day. I’m not sure if there back in the office but you’ll probably see some of them riding soon.
  2. ^^from my knowledge no. You would handle it the same way Disney does. There’s a strap on the seatbelt itself which the guest would pull on to prove to the ride op that the seatbelt is fastened.
  3. Is there any chance we see contactless restraint checks like Disney does? Does anyone know the reason most parks do hand checks? Is it state legislation, company policy, for insurance reasons or something else?
  4. ^Why would the rides need to be re-inspected when they haven’t been inspected at all for this season? Do they even do yearly inspections? If they do they would need them anyways so why do them now if they don’t have a re-opening in mind. And if they are trying to figure out different methods of operation why wouldn’t they just use one rollercoaster instead of testing multiple? Not arguing just asking.
  5. I don’t think Cedar Point would be testing rides if they haven’t at least heard something. They’re original opening date wasn’t until may do they didn’t even have trains back on any tracks or anything before the pandemic. I don’t think they would be going through the process or re adding trains and testing them if they didn’t hear something from the gov.
  6. ^if that’s the concern then you would still allow it but reduce the % capacity allowed. Imo.
  7. Dewine seems to like making announcements on Thursdays. I wonder if we will hear something about amusement parks today.
  8. My guess is that the park may have an ideal idea of when they will be allowed to open. They said they would need 4 weeks at least to get everything open. So potentially they might open like June 20th but potentially could be allowed to open June 13th. My guess is that they are actively testing Orion so that employee early rides, media day, charity event and maybe a pass holder event can all happen during the week of June 13-20 before the park opens.
  9. The problem I have seen with facemasks is that they are very hot when worn this leads to irritation and sweating. People will then touch their face to adjust the mask and then that’s an easy way to spread the virus.
  10. This is what I said in my original post. We’re just talking about self risk. Actual risk is a much different situation.
  11. my point is that I already had covid-19. And if I could get it again(which we don’t know) based on my bodies reaction to it the first time (not much at all). The chances of me dying would be very very small. statistically that probability would also be very very small for those in my age group without pre-existing conditions
  12. If I went to Kings Island right now and was shoulder to shoulder with 40k people it would still be more likely for me to die on the drive over. for the people who I may come in contact with later the percentages may be much different.
  13. Less weighted trains go slower. Hades 360 had to get a hill reprofiled when they switched to timberliners. Son of Beast had to get its loop removed when it get lighter trains.
  14. I also think millennium flyer trains would be awesome on The Beast and racer but there’s a couple of problems. 1 millennium flyers are a lot lighter than ptc trains. I’m not sure if with 24 car trains the trains would make it through the course of The Beast or racer than your also running into the issue of reduced capacity. Unless gci is willing to make an exception and do an extended version of the trains then it would probably be able to run on The Beast in a combination with reduced trims to compensate for the lost speed. there is still another problem though and that is that millennium flyers and timberliners need a significant re-tracking done first on rides that have been running ptc trains for years. The heavy ptc trains kill the tracks and when you add the light trains they shuffle around badly and make the ride expierence rougher than what it was before. This is what happened with rides like the voyage and Gwazi. If you can retrack The Beast than add new trains that would save you money in the long run because the lighter trains won’t put on as much stress as the ptc but I don’t know if Kings Island is willing to put in all that money.
  15. This is a random question but related to trains. Does anyone know the different lengths for different types of wooden coaster trains. Like given that they are all 24 passengers trains how long would timberliners compare to millennium fliers and the different types or ptc’s. Would also really be interested in knowing the different weights if anyone knows that?
  16. With the current re-opening schedule of restraints and salons announced in Ohio. Given that there are no major setbacks what are some predictions on Kings Island opening date?
  17. There was very limited testing available in Cincinnati a month ago. I got lucky to have a personal connection to help get my test done and still had to drive to Columbus as there was nothing in Cinci. Most likely a product of increased testing.
  18. hmmm interesting. I imagine they purchased those masks to supply to their employees once they do open.
  19. As someone who was infected with Covid-19. I was around someone who was a carrier about a month later and wasn't reinfected. Not the most scientific but just sharing my personal experience.
  20. Honestly if they go with a retheme I think they would go with a complete retheme rather than one like just changing the band. I would imagine it would be something similar to like how Tower of Terror was transformed into Guardian's of the Galaxy. They will probably change it to some Disney/Pixar/marvel movie if the license does not get resigned. This is just my opinion though and honestly I would much rather do that to a ride like RnR than a ride like Tower of Terror.
  21. I think the big parks will still get the massive B&M's as there coasters. The smaller parks will probably work with companies like gravity group, premier, S&S, and even RMC (Raptors). I think I read that one of those raptor clones costs $5 million. You have to think what is the return on the investment for 6 smaller parks to get raptors vs one big park to get a B&M. Not only that but that park would still be getting that B&M under this plan it would just be a year or two later. I think this makes a lot of sense in terms of ROI. I think Cedar Fair will give rides to each park every year but not in the way six flags does it. I don't think a park like Dorney will get a new rollercoaster next year and then another new one 1-2 years later like how six flags drops in all the cloned models into all of the parks. I think Dorney and other smaller parks will get smaller coasters every 5 years or so just like how the bigger parks will get larger coasters every 5 years. In between the parks will get flat rides, family rides, and other stuff.
  22. This is a reflection of corporates plan to include more additions across the chain which I think is a smart decision. This will be reflective of Kings Island most likely getting a new coaster about every 5 years rather than the 3 year cycle we have been seeing with parks like Cedar Point and Kings Island. Which started in the Matt Ouimet area. (takes a few years to kick in because of the planning cycle.) Now Richard Zimmer has changed approach to a more chainwide approach.
  23. While I agree with what you are saying people don’t want to go to a pool that is too crowded. The second wave pool helped but people still sometimes have to wait in long lines for the lazy river. There has been multiple days where there hasn’t been enough seating for a lot of people. But yeah they could could very well get away with adding some more seating, as well as another lazy river and most people would be more than happy. I just think they have a growth opportunity with adding a couple of new, nice slides to Soak City that would allow them to sell more Fast Lane.
