Roller coaster youtubers
bengalsguy23 replied to bengalsguy23's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Taylor has some really good off ride videos. His vlog videos are really annoying imo however. -
While I personally don’t consider myself an enthusiast I enjoy watching YouTube videos of bloggers/ videographers filming parks on YouTube. I really like channels like coasterbob which have really nice high quality shots. I don’t watch too many enthusiasts videos I find them to be really annoying and entitled. (Every ride must be RMC or intamin or it sucks). Or they’re a kid. there’s two blogging style YouTubers I like watching for parks and that’s the timtracker: He’s very g.p about parks but in a good way. Fun entertaining and just all around has a good time. Doesn’t complain a lot which I like. and eltororyan: ryans about as much of an enthusiast as it gets but his recent more documentary style videos covering problematic roller coasters are well researched and cool. what theme park related YouTube channels do you all watch and why?

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
bengalsguy23 replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
Just my opinion. While I’m all for updating the entry area I think a coaster would ruin the I street area. I’m fine with a new coaster that’s runs in the area of Invertigo but anything over the entrance would be too much for Kings Island tbh. -
I don’t think anyone is trying to get anyone fired over it. It’s not really a reflection of that individual employee. It’s the employee culture in general at Kings Island that’s a problem. And that starts with management. No an employee will not get fired for making a joke like that. They will probably get a verbal warning and told not to do it anymore. If they continue well then they might get fired but that’s for disobeying managers at that point. The best thing someone can do is leave a note to guest services. No you don’t need to name the specific person to them. Just stating that you hear certain things that are unprofessional will get back to the department heads. It’s sad to me because the full timers really all care a lot and a lot of employees do to. These things tend to happen when your park supervisors are mainly 16/17 year olds.

The main speal I always hear for zephyr is “it’s faster, sleeker, and better than the wind seeker”like I get there trying to be funny but the self depredating jokes within the park made by the ride ops really gets old and looks bad

Are dark rides worth the investment? Yes and no. are they going to bring in the necessary amount of people to the park to pay for the initial cost? Probably not. but what they are going to do is on a hot day keep people at the park. Today at Dollywood I was ready to leave with the lack of an indoor ride. (Blazing fury is indoor but it didn’t have air conditioning). Finally I found a nice indoor eating area and sat down and decided to stay longer. Had I not done this I would have for sure left. I ended up staying and purchasing another meal. The air conditioning improved my mood a lot as well which lead me to purchase more things. I think it’s absolutely worth the investment.

Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
bengalsguy23 replied to Hawaiian Coasters 325's topic in Kings Island
Currently at Dollywood. Everyone except for two groups so far I’ve seen have been following rules and wearing masks. one group didn’t speak English. I don’t think any employees were saying anything to them. I’m there defense when a guest speaks another language it’s hard to tell them to do certain things. the other group a ride up announced over the intercom to please where your masks while in line and then they did. pretty good precedures in place here. also in a random note: they use paper straws here. Didn’t know that. Kind of cool. -
Hypothetically what’s stopping someone from getting a pass then 5 minutes later getting another one until they have a bunch of them?
-
Wow Area 72 looks so good at night. Also how far into the ride does the lighting package go into the ride. I saw it in other photos on the large camelback. Does it include the helix? I kind of wish they would have added it to the entire ride.

Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks

He gets it and y’all should too. A few months ago we weren’t sure if Kings Islands would be open it all this year. Now we have an opportunity to enjoy the Park we all love again. Are masks fun? No. Nobody likes wearing them. But it’s a small ask for such a unique world situation right now. It has nothing to do with freedom. You are choosing to go to Kings Island. Kings Island is choosing to help make their employees safer. -
Yeah I was just saying because I feel like some people want to see it all in person the first time.
-
It would be really cool if they could get the lights to sync with the Eiffel Tower.
-
It worked on my phone
-
That’s what they are doing at worlds of fun so I assume yes.

I could see them very quickly having to implement something for Orion. Something like what Disney did with Star Wars might be a good option. I don’t think any of the other rides will need it.
-
In this case Orion’s going to suffer from having four across seating. Compare it to Diamondback. Both rides have a 32 rider capacity but with covid will be knocked down to 16 each. Now imagine a group of 6 comes up at both rides. In diamond back the groups can broken up into 3 sets of two leaving no empty seats. ( not including the ones that are being blocked off for social distancing). On Orion a group of 6 would be split into 3 and 3 or 4 and 2. Either way there’s gonna be extra empty seats that can’t be filled. If someone is in a group of two at Diamondback no more seats are lost. At Orion two seats are no longer filled. Now worst case scenario is a group of one. On diamond back you are loosing one seat but on Orion you are loosing three. With this in mind Orion’s capacity is going to be really bad even with quick dispatches.

It was clearly a joke

I think Kings Island has a bad smoking policy Inside the smoking areas as well as outside. That’s not anyone who smoked fault there following the rules. The placement of some of the smoking sections are so badly places and small it’s not good.

That’s good. With how busy Orion will be it would make sense to send a lot of staff there. -
I used to work the ticket booth and saw many instances of people getting to the top but refusing to pull the chord to release themselves. They had to be lowered back down.

It doesn’t have to be 16 ppl it could be less. If there are groups of 2 or 3 they won’t be combined with another group. There could even be a group of one in a row. I think most trains will probably average to have around 10-12 people. Dispatches might be faster though. If they still have 4 people checking restaurants they should be able to send trains very quickly. -
thank you for your insight

Is there going to be an employee event this year?
