TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT!!!!
-
Well maybe I'm in the minority here but I thought the ride was fantastic. It is a big ride that is "family friendly" or less forceful so the general public can ride it multiple times. My wife cannot ride many rides multiple times but she could do this one 3-5 times before having to get off. She also says that this ride was her favorite in the park. I would say its probably 4th or 5th best in the park for me (Its hard to top MF, TTD, Maverick) but I truly think this was an outstanding addition to the park. The ride has drawn out elements for less force and very little airtime but the keyholes, speed, and sheer look of the ride make up for what it lacks. For those who have trouble with the restraints, You should adjust your posture. Sit upright with your shoulders back against the seat instead of leaning forward and the harness will not dig into your collarbone. If you sit upright it allows the harness to restrict at the chest like it is designed to to instead of your collarbone/shoulders. Lastly what makes this ride an amazing addition to CP is the location. Imagine your first trip to an amusement park as a kid and you come up to the gates for tickets or entering after a long boring road trip with the family and you see Gatekeeper flipping through the keyholes with people screaming their heads off. What an amazing sight! I was taken back by the placement of the ride and immediately thought this is a must ride. I believe that this was the reaction the CP/CF wanted with the addition of Gatekeeper. A good ride with a fantastic location and I believe they hit the nail on the head with Gatekeeper.

Gwazi, either one. I don't know why but I rode one side then the other and it was awful. I had a headache that lasted about 2 hours and my wife had a headache and couldn't even muster to ride after the first turn... Just super rough.

Just so you new members know there is a spoiler button on the box for entries. It is the third button from the left on the top row. You can see it from the desktops. If you hover over it the box is named special BBcode. Click the button, click the drop down menu that pops up, Then click spoiler and enter text or photo that you are trying to hide as the spoiler alert. It will look like this: Thanks in advance. Edit: Welp I was beaten to it haha Sorry bout that!

They made a typo/grammatical error on their original teaser posters. (See the sticker changing the entire last line on the poster?) Why couldn't they misspell "vicinity"? Not saying that the blueprints are real but just saying typos can happen.

I'll bite. Best sounding ride: Kumba Best smelling ride: Voyage. The tunnels during the fall and spring have a weird smell to them. But every time I smell it, I love it. (Don't judge me )

You lose hope in humanity because not everyone pays as much attention to what the park's building the way coaster enthusiasts do...?? Nope I lose faith in humanity that are obvious fans of the park (Follow KI's twitter or facebook accounts) and see that KI is posting about this empty field all summer long. Then they see pictures or in person, that there is active construction going on in the park with the sign that says this: Enthusiast or not, its painfully obvious that they were building something (and something BIG due to the size of the construction area). To have no idea that something was going in this area or that it wasn't a ride being built has got to make anyone who has been to the park or follows their twitter/facebook feed absolutely ignorant and oblivious. It doesn't take a rocket scientist (or coaster enthusiast) to notice this.
-
It is amazing how many people had no idea that Kings Island was even building a ride. People on twitter are tweeting "Huh?" and "I hope it is a new coaster." Are people that oblivious to the big huge construction site where SOB used to stand? Man I lose hope in humanity more and more everyday...

Ahhh!!! Aug 8th!!! Im excited!!!

Yep, that's all the proof I need to know that Don is having a good time with us, ha! I imagine he has one of the most fun jobs in the world. Ask the PR person for Six Flags over Texas or Paula at HW how much fun they are having when things go bad... Its a tough job but I am glad that Don is having fun with it.

That would be Awesome! Are you going? I don't know anybody that's going to this event. I'm almost certain I am not going to the event. I don't think my coaster club (Club Coasterfusion) meets the requirement to be invited to this event. I just thought that because they have an event that would bring in more enthusiasts (including those here at KIC) to the announcement. I have to agree with you though. I think there will be an announcement leading up to the announcement of the ride. That way the media can be there. I'm really excited because I think the announcement will be coming during August because of Don's last tweet and since August has 31 days.
-
Do you guys think the announcement will be held during BeastBuzz, do you think they could last until KIC 10th bday event before revealing the ride, or just during a normal day? I was thinking that if I was to announce a big ride like this I would do it the weekend before the majority of schools in Ohio go back full time. Mainly for the fact that you can create a large amount of buzz with kids and give them something to look forward to next summer. Just my opinion. What do you all think?

Death at Six Flags over Texas
Joncars05 replied to mullimann's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I always think of this on DB. I wish they had some sort of seat belt as backup for it. Because it can be tight enough for safety but loose enough to not interfere with the massive airtime you get. It at least gives you a chance to stay on if there is a malfunction. Without a seat belt you have no chance to stay on DB with a failure. -

What do the restraints look like? Is there a seatbelt as back up of just a lap bar? I have never been on this ride before. -
Boy I REALLY hope they didn't spend that much on SOB. Which by far is already one, if not, the BIGGEST failure/bust/mistake in amusement park history. The $40 million dollar total would be just a kick in the pants while laying on the ground.
-
Unless you are in a Gentlemen's Club! Yeah KI blew $40.5 million dollars on Crypt and SOB. That doesn't include the removal prices as well.

Favorite ride at Cedar Point.
Joncars05 replied to CP&LERR Fan's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I just took my first trip there this past June. I was blown away by their collection of coasters. I would say that my favorite ride there is Maverick. Followed by MF, TTD, and Gatekeeper respectively. -
Here is the sticker from the Flying Over the Rain Forest wing coaster in China. The number on top is not the same. jcgoble3 is correct. The Job number is the first 4 numbers while the last digits might mean something like track piece #3. Decode away.

So it is definitely a B&M!?!?!?! This is getting very exciting!!!

I would compare them to Vortex not as hard but it can get you if you don't ride it correctly. The sign out front says remove earrings for the ride, so they don't stab you if you hit the harness. I rode it at night without being in the front row, or knowing the layout, and can tell you if you lean one way and the train turns the other way you will smack your head pretty hard. I had a headache from bouncing in between the harness the first time I rode it.

I don't know why but this absolutely cracked me up!

Cedar Point Tuesday, 6/25/13 PTR and Put-in-Bay
Joncars05 replied to Fire-Beast-OF FEAR's topic in Trip Reports
Great trip report. Ill have my report about my experience with coastermania coming up whenever I get some free time to write it. Its going to be long like yours because I'll have a breakdown of my experience on each ride as well. As for a plan of attack for ERT, it depends on what you want to do. I believe GK, Maverick, and MF are on the ERT list. If you are there for two days plan on doing GK one day and then Maverick and MF the other. When I was at CP for ERT my wife and I did MF and Maverick for one day then got atleast one if not 2 rides in on GK before the general public was let in. -
Holiday World: Rock The World

^They put a temp stage up like for lollapalooza or other outdoor concerts. They used the land that is covered by Hyena Falls last year. I would assume they would use the land around there for this year's show. -
If you are THAT mad with him why don't you just block him? It is not hard... Click the gray X at the bottom of one of his comments and click Ignore. Poof He is gone... I don't know why you can't just ignore him if you are going to "flip a lid." We have all agreed that he is just trying to get us riled up why not block him or ignore him, instead of calling him kid and disrespecting him. The best way to reason with him is to ignore his smart-alec comments...
