Okay I'm just going to throw my opinion out here. YoungStud, although I think you are exaggerating a bit, I have noticed the same thing as well. DB has stacked the last time I was there. It was a rainy Monday and I cycled through only 3 rides in 30 minutes in the final 30 minutes the park was open. The line was stretched only to the bottom of the stairs. Now I do remember riding it and being stuck on the first brakes after the splash down twice. I have seen DB this year and not been too upset about it mainly because I didn't have to wait too long. I see where you are coming from YoungStud about it shouldn't matter if the line is 3 hrs long or 10 minutes long, and you are correct. Its like having a Ferrari and never driving it faster than 70 MPH. You aren't using the product to its full potential. Now one thing I have noticed on this board is that people cannot take criticism of KI in the least bit without getting offended. I posted two similar stories last year and got blasted for them. I posted a story about the new "action river" last year and people blasted me for "complaining" about getting shot in the face by the new squirt guns at the entrance of the river. Now i was upset at first but now I know I was in the right as you can see now they have completely stopped the use of those guns at the entrance of the river. I also posted a story about FunPerks and how it was a bad system because they never fully explained it to the public. They had us (their most loyal customer in the park as season pass holders) blindly spending an unknown amount of money to recieve mediocre prizes that were not worth the amount of money you were spending. I sasid it was a cash grab and truly only benefited the park while we received minimal incentives. I got blasted saying it was a great program and how its wonderful for the park. Now FP non-existent... I like KI I think it is a fun park but it is not without its faults. No park of that size can be without fault. If the park doesn't want to fix its faults then we, as loyal fans of the park, should be upset with the park. I think KI should strive to be the best park it can be and fix it's faults. There is plenty of room for improvement either with ride ops, guest experience, guest relations, etc. And to say anything otherwise is just flat out ignorance. Just my opinion.

I have never been to a park by myself but have been on rides alone before. I like to share that time with whoever I'm with, usually my wife, but sometimes its my friend or my little cousins. I enjoy spending time with them but also have found that riding alone isn't as bad as most people would assume (I used to think that it was "bad" or "not fun" as well. Then I rode TTD by myself during coastermania about 6 times in a row then 2 times the next day without my wife because she doesn't like the ride. I stood in line and talked to some people and actually had a good time talking with complete strangers. I rode with some random mom and it had to be one of the more fun rides of the day. I also have been on DB by myself while my wife took her cousins through the kiddie rides during the last 30 minutes of the night, and met some awesome coaster nuts that I ended up marathoning for the last bit of the night. I think if you are by yourself you can still have a great time through meeting and talking to random people in line. Also like others said you aren't held to anyone else's schedule. You can do whatever you like! Also with what Terp said being the only person on a train has to be a cool thing to do. I think Zen rides could be a very fun and unique experience!

$6 to $8 for a six-inch sub. Which is a rip-off. Almost all dining options at KI are a rip-off. The prices are usually outrageous and the food quality is mediocre at best (Larosa's pizza, Hamburgers, chicken tenders, etc. Although I do like the fries from potato works) Your best option for cheap food is to either pack a lunch in a cooler and leave it in your car or keep your parking receipt leave the park and head to one of the closer dining options.

Smurfy Trip to Holiday World 6/29/13 - (A Few Pics)
Joncars05 replied to LongLiveTheSmurfRide's topic in Trip Reports
Sounds like a fun trip! HW is my favorite park. Thanks for sharing your trip with us! -
When they were tearing down Son of Beast, the bolts that came off the ride were placed into barrels and hauled off presumably for scrap. I assume whatever was left in that barn was scrapped or kept depending if it could be used on other rides. Like AZ Kinda Guy said, I assume that barn and that remaining stuff out there will be cleaned up once a new ride opens on that occupied spot even though by all indications it seems a new ride won't be going out that far. I'm surprised that they let so much stuff out there remain visible from the tower. So it only took you 180 pages to start moderating this topic! Hope it cleans up a bit! haha

It could be. But most wooden coasters have many more footers than what we are seeing now. A prototype could result in less footers. But again I think KI is going steel with this one. They don't want anyone to confuse this project with SOB.On the other hand I would love to see B&M come up with a wooden style coaster. GG has the best designs for wooden coasters, IMO. Competition like B&M and others could really make them (GG) push the envelope. Who knows if they're done with footers yet?Could be more on the way. Another delay could be the wood supply. And remember - it took more than a year tp build The Beast. Here's an example of some wooden coaster footers and construction previously at Kings Island.... I doubt it will be a wooden roller coaster (Photo Courtesy of Michael Snyder) Beastunchained, I would have to agree with you. Hank you are exactly right as well though. We don't know if they are done with placing footers in and until we start to see track or hear an announcement I would agree with you nothing can be determined 100%. Everyone's opinion is valid until we get official validation from the park.

Please don't take this the wrong way Terp, but I think you might be stretching just a bit. Sure photos add to the bandwith and increase the costs but:What about the "Guess the Coaster" thread: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/20303-guess-the-coaster/page-93?hl=+random%20+photo It has 93 pages full of photos of random roller coasters. Or the "Random Photo of the Day" thread: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/21765-random-photo-of-the-day/page-106?hl=+random%20+photo It has 106 pages full of random photos. Its really only inconsiderate if you are using the mobile version. Which I believe does have an option to block photos from loading (atleast my Pantech Link, a free basic phone has that option). Is it annoying yes, just say that and not that its going to cost extra money and servers and such. There are plenty of other sections on this forums that hold more than the photos than the replied posts you are talking about.

Isn't a Banshee a Screaming Demon? No, not really. A Banshee is simply a legendary female spirit that wails when someone is about to die. It doesn't necessarily imply the spirit is a demon. Banshees wail before someone's death? I did not know that thanks for sharing. This comment immediately made me think of the "B&M Roar" as the coaster rolls along the track. How fitting would that name be for a B&M Coaster!?!? Joncars05, who is probably overthinking this one.

I actually thought the same thing, at least the Luminosity part. On my trip to CP this year we stopped by Luminosity and thought it was a really good show. We had a blast and would enjoy it if KI added something similar. I could see them throwing a Luminosity type stage up AND a coaster all in the same year. (Heaven forbid they pull the same stuff they have the past two year with making a big hoopla about their additions to the park only to add Dinosaurs Alvie and WindSeeker...)

Ah thanks for that, I didn't know that they were running that promo either. Again I typically avoid summer days and holidays but again I would've thought it wouldnt be as packed because people wanted to do their own fireworks or have a family dinner out of town or something not related to a theme park. I know you said no offense but maybe they just didn't know. I have never been on Father's Day and I assumed that it wouldn't be crowded because people would be taking dad to dinner or movie. Yet a couple of my friends went this year and said it was probably the most packed day they have ever seen at KI. On par with the final 2-3 HH Saturday nights. But it's the fourth of July. Independence Day. A major holiday. In the middle of the summer. Sorry for being a dummy... You are right. I should've known better...

man i havent read this post in a while. Again I still don't see why everyone is freaking out. Ill break it down this way. This park was great because it was family owned. It is still family owned. Lori has taken control and the right hand man (Coworker of 10 years plus) Matt Eckert has been placed in position as President. Dan NEVER had this park as his number one priority. He is a shady business man at best. He left HW when Will took the reigns to pursue his lawyer firm in Florida. He was rarely involved with HW and moved 1600 miles away from the "family business." If he was so interested in running the park why step away from the park when it is expanding a growing at such an unbelievable rate? The park was seeing a huge boom and success beyond any small park in this nation if not the world and what did he do? He ran to Florida to run a small law firm. He gave full control to Will and walked away from the business. As soon as Will died I believe he saw it as an opportunity to make more money for himself and not run the park for family's sake. According to the article above he increased HIS OWN PAY RATE FOUR FOLD while he was running the park to a total of $1.16 MILLION dollars. He used those funds to fund his law firm in Florida AND pay for his divorce. Not saying anything about divorce but he is the only Koch member to have one that I am aware of. I would assume that divorce is not looked upon well in the Koch family. He was the one who started this whole mess by trying to enforce the agreement policy that state all shares should be split if a sibling passed. Then on top of it, he SHORTED Lori what was legally hers. Not only did he short Lori he shorted HIS OWN BROTHER"S CHILDREN!!! He tried to skim money off the top and take advantage of Lori because he thought she wasn't "Business savvy." But gues what Dan, Lori caught you up and sued your butt for trying to short her what was legally hers. I still don't know why everyone gives this guy the benefit of doubt. He is a crook and the recent court rulings say so. I just don't understand what people see in this guy... It is widely know that Will's kids were next in line to operate the park. This was Will's baby. You can see his passion by the blog he wrote about his virst ride on Voyage ( ill find the link and post it later. )His kids were in school learning how to run this place. Will worked with Matt Eckert while HW was booming, he logically should have been the next man up to take the reigns. He might have been just there to hold the sport for Will's kids who knows. But the park is in good hands with Matt because he was a close business partner with Will and is probably one of 4 people that knew his vision for the park. I don't know why everyone is trying to throw Lori under the bus. She is only looking out for whats best for the park and her family as well. Dan was and is NOT the best option for the park. As for Pat Koch. The lady is 81 or 82 years old. Lost two kids in the last 3 years unexpectantly. Do you guys just not think that maybe she doesn't want to be at the park all of the time? Maybe her health isn't the best yet doesn't want anyone to know about it. You might be looking too in depth at her absence from the front of the park. To say that you may regret buying season passes or that the baggage check up front is (strict) is beyond silly and an overreaction at best. The baggage check is unzip your bag and they look in. You don't have to take anything out and they don't file through your belongings... You people are making it seem like the park is completely different. The only difference is the leader and Pat not being there. The GP probably has no idea that there is anything going on. From reading this board you guys and gals have made it seem like the park is going to be out of business by next year. Maybe you should take the advice from the HWN shirt this year that says "Keep Calm and Ride Voyage." As for the park. HW hasn't skipped a beat. HW is still friendly, clean, fun, family oriented, and most important of all expanding. They have still had 1,000,000 plus vsitors over the past 8 years or so. They must be doing something right to have that many people visit a park in Santa Claus, IN. The park's future is in great hands with Matt and will continue to be when Will's kids finally take the reigns. No need to worry guys.

The only thing that bothers me about inverted coasters are when the inversions are low to the ground. I have ridden Montu, Vertigo, Wicked Twister, and Raptor. I would say Raptor gets me the least amout of dizzy/sick (More enjoyable to ride) because almost all the inversion are located high. Montu gets me the most dizzy especially with the inversions that are low to the ground. I think the closer to the ground the inversion is the higher the g's, which in turn makes it a more dizzying/nauseous ride. Anyone else feel the same way?

Dont forget the new sand volleyball courts in Soak City. I believe they had rec leagues last year.

Nostalgic Indiana Beach for 2013

This is great news! My wife and I are going to make a trip up there this year and the updating of the park is just an added bonus! I'm glad it seems they are starting to turn the park around. -

If you throw enough mud... -
Haha No! Just saying some people have been saying ONLY ONE manufacturer uses a triangular footer when almost all manufacturers use these types of footers. Now I think that we can possibly narrow the element that will be using those footers but again that is a LONG stretch. This one uses a triangular footer for a corkscrew while some other rides have on for a first drop or another type of inversion. I guess I should've mentioned this piece in a bit more detail. Just saying you cannot tell what type of ride OR manufacturer that is building a ride based off of the shape and number of footers.
-
I know this is old news but these two footers are from Corkscrew at CP. Triangular footers don't really mean anything when it comes to manufacturers. Now when it comes to elements that is a different story.

Why do people get angry at speculation? That is one thing I just don't get. You say that you don't understand why people are guessing and speculating for the new ride, but that is what your doing here. You don't know that the track is not going to Kings Island. None of us on this site, excluding Don, have any idea what this ride is. But, we try to guess and draw conclusions. That is what makes this site so enjoyable and this thread so popular.I'm not trying to pick on you. I know you are a well respected poster and do not want to make you angry. Hope it didn't come off this way. The reason why the poster is getting "upset" is the same reason why I am getting "upset" as well. People are seriously stating that they know for a fact that mthis ride is from a certain manufacutor strictly because of the shape of a few footers on the ground. The poster is absolutely correct we need to chill and wait for more substantial clues. We have gone through nearly 2000 posts and have really not discussed anything substantial. Is it fun to speculate? Yes. But is it fun to listen pass off their speculation as fact? No... This gotta have the info now mentality is beyond frustrating. Just chill and watch what happens instead of trying to predict the future...
