"Mystic Manor" at Hong Kong Disneyland Video
Voicetek replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Cool, excellent find! I love Elfman's music. Sorry, I should have posted a link or something to the info I found about that. Here is a video of Danny Elfman talking about his involvement with the project and part of the process. It's pretty neat! -
"Mystic Manor" at Hong Kong Disneyland Video
Voicetek replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I've watched this "Mystic Manor" ride through video about 10 times this week because I'm so intrigued with it. While watching the video I realized that I really liked the music and that it was pretty catchy. I kept thinking that the music sounded really Danny Elfman-ish, like something from a movie in which Danny Elfman wrote the score. I did a little research and come to find out, Danny Elfman actually scored the ride! How cool is that? -
When you purchase season passes online the names that are associated with the passes are printed onto the ticket. That's how you can tell if there would be a potential problem. If there are no names on the tickets, then there are probably no names associated with them. I used to buy my season passes at Meijer. They'd give me a paper with all the info and a bunch of blank fields. I would just fill it out and take it to the park. I could see where this could be legit. I could also see where this could cause some problems. However, he did offer to meet whoever might be interested so that they could inspect the tickets. Might be worth checking into if someone were interested. I, on the other hand, always renew my pass at the end of the season so I haven't bought a new pass in quite sometime.

"Mystic Manor" at Hong Kong Disneyland Video

Just curious, if this was designed and built specifically for Hong Kong Disneyland, then why is all the dialogue in English? It seems as maybe it could be because they're planning to eventually build this ride at one of the US parks? Anyway, this ride looks amazing! This is probably one of the most interesting dark rides I've seen. I'd give anything to ride this one day! -
Excellent trip report! Very detailed with some amazing photos! I love looking at Disney World photos, it helps me to relive the experience. Looks and sounds like you had a great trip, thanks for posting!

I think KI should add a brand new, high quality dark ride over near Action Zone, maybe back in some of that now cleared land. Or if they ever expand that area and connect it to X-Base, they could stick one over there somewhere. That would give them 1 in Planet Snoopy and another one over on the other side of the park. I think that would be a nice balance and would be a great family ride in a different location.

Brady Bunch to make an appearance at KI in 2013!
Voicetek replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island
This is awesome news. I'll definitely try to go that day. I grew up on the Brady Bunch and loved the episode where they visit the park. This will be a pretty neat experience! -
As long as it's not pouring down rain, I'll be there. We're still 11 days out so I wouldn't put too much faith in what the weather report says now. We all know how that can change from day to day. 60 degrees would be great though!

^ Yeah it would be nice to have some documentation to go along with this. That way someone could know for sure that it actually came from The Beast.

I'd personally like to see some more theming on individual rides. Also, it would be nice to bring a unique feel/atmosphere to each individual section of the park. This could be done by landscaping, props, music, etc. Instead of the park just feeling like one big land, it would be nice to return each section to some of it's individuality.

Disney Rides That Never Came To Fruition
Voicetek replied to Hank's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
This article was awesome! I would've loved to ride any one of those rides! I thought "Beastly Kingdom" sounded pretty cool as well as the Snow Queen ride. I love dark rides and animatronics, so these rides probably would've been some of my favorites. -
Looks great so far! What are you using to build/design the page? I'm just curious since I dabble in web design myself.

Creepy Abandoned Theme Parks
Voicetek replied to pilotank's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
That's funny! My family and I spent a lot of time there in the late 80s/early 90s. I just remember there were a bunch of interesting characters there, both employees and guests. By a certain time it definitely seemed like a questionable operation. Some of the rides did scare me a bit, but I think that was part of the fun of the place. I think the last time I was there was the summer of 99. I went in for a day just to ride a few things. It was very evident that the park was going down hill. -

Does anyone remember the Country Bears show that used to be at Americana? It was in the building by the train loading station. It was an animatronic show that was kind of a rip off of the Bear Country Jubilee at Disney World. I can't remember much about it except that I loved that show! However, it was closed the majority of the time cause it never worked. I guess they were constantly having problems with the animatronic characters. I'd give anything to see a video of this show or something! -

Here is another video of the Americana/Fantasy Farm areas. The video was filmed by a guy called Adam the Woo. He has a YouTube channel and he's got quite a few videos of abandoned places including amusement parks. I watched a few yesterday, very interesting! -

New Walt Disney World park maps
Voicetek replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I absolutely love Disney World! Every time I come back from there, I can't wait until I can go back again. That being said, I'm not a huge fan of the new map at all. Like some of you, I'm so familiar with the park that I don't really need a map. I can walk through the gates and I know exactly where I'm going and what I want to ride. For me, the maps were always just to keep. They were fun and colorful and you could see the main landmarks of each park very well. The last time I went down, my niece and nephew went also and my niece (8 years old at the time) was having a great time looking at the map and trying to navigate us through the park. I just don't see that happening with the new map. It looks too official or something...too realistic. It doesn't really play into the fun, colorful atmosphere that is a Disney park. I don't think it invokes that same feeling of fun. Like goodyellowkorn182 said, it looks like a Google Maps image or something. Not very fun. -
^ I'm probably in that line somewhere! lol

Are there Phantom Theater props being used in the park? If so, where? I'd like to look for them this season

Maybe putting the animatronic Indians back in during the train ride?
