I sometimes take a backpack with me to the park. I'll take my backpack on coasters that have enclosed trains such as Beast, Vortex, FoF, etc. I have never had any trouble riding with my backpack on these types of coasters. I put my bag between my legs and hold onto it with both hands. It never feels like it's going to fall out, even in the loops and corkscrews. I don't like to chance the holding bins if I don't have to. I feel pretty safe and confident holding onto my own stuff. Now Diamondback, Firehawk, etc. are a different story.

I'm planning to go up for a little while Sunday afternoon/evening. I haven't really been on a Sunday in quite some time. I'm hoping that the crowds won't be too terribly bad. I'm mainly just wanting to grab a few of the $1 menu items and take a ride on a few rides.

Yay! I went last year during this promo and it was fantasic! I'll definitely be there next weekend!

I agree with location being a big draw for Invertigo. My fiance and I brought my 6 year old nephew to the park Saturday evening. The first thing he noticed was Invertigo. Now, there was no way he was going to get on that thing, but he was intrigued by it. He called it the "roller coaster that goes upside down." All evening, no matter where we were in the park, he kept asking where the roller coaster that goes upside down was. It's one of the first rides you see as you're walking up to the entrance. It's also one of the first rides you hear. It really is effective and starts getting you excited for all the thrills you're going to experience in the park. I see no reason for it to be removed just yet.

As much as I would like to see this come to pass, sadly, it will never happen. Unfortunately, The Phantom Theater will only exist in our hearts, in our minds, and in cheap, low budget, fan-made movies such as this one:

I had my cell phone with me in the park on Saturday for the first time in a long time. I'm with Cricket and I was happy to see that I had great coverage, even inside Boo Blasters. Although the reception did drop a bit inside the building, it still wasn't too bad.

It sucks when a couple of people ruin things for everyone else. I don't know why it's so hard to follow rules. Just like in elementary school when 1 or 2 kids talking would result in the lights being turned out and the entire class having to put their heads down on their desk and losing recess.

^ Yes that is a great idea! I think I'd prefer ambient sounds as well. It would really add to the atmosphere!

I think instrumental tracks would be great. Maybe some with some choir voices singing in epic Latin chants. It would be cool if it was original music and not just a selection of pop/rock songs that are already well known. I think originality would add a nice element to Banshee.

Wow ok...what an unexpected thread. I, for one, am thrilled with what we're getting next year. I've been enjoying Diamondback since 2009, so I'm expecting to enjoy Banshee just as much for the next 4 years or so. On that note, I'd be happy with some smaller rides between now and then. I nice family dark ride around 2016 or so might be nice. I doubt we'll see a new coaster too soon, but that's ok with me. I'm pretty satisfied with what we have now.

My fiance and I were there tonight in the midst of the crowd. We had an appointment tonight after work, so we weren't able to arrive at the park until around 9. We walked over to Action Zone and got a place to stand. I was very excited to see what would be revealed! The coaster looks amazing and can't wait to see it sitting in the park. My only complaint about tonight's announcement though was the very low sound quality. We were standing in about the middle of the crowd and could barely hear any of the announcement. I was glad that there were at least videos! This will definitely be a MUST RIDE on opening day next year though! I'm predicting a line longer than Diamondback's opening day. And that was a heck of a line! Well....the countdown to 2014 begins tonight!

So earlier I was reading the post on this forum about the revamps that were made at Knotts Berry Farm including the remodel and upgrade of their log flume dark ride. That got me to thinking...what if we got a revamped or upgraded Boo Blasters? What would you like to see done differently? How could that ride be made better or what would you like to see in that building instead? What are some of your ideas? Here's an idea I had the other day while standing in line with my fiance waiting to ride it. One thing I'd like to have for that ride is a reason to be doing what I'm doing. What's the story? Where are we at? Why am I blasting boos? I know there's a small sign right before the loading area that talks about defeating Boocifer or whatever, but why do I even care that I'm at some manor blasting boos? What I'd really like to see is some kind of a narrator character set up in the lobby, perhaps on the balcony where Maestro used to sit. It can be a fun, relatable character that's talking to the crowd while we're waiting. This character could tell the story of the manor and how the boos came to take it over. He can explain your mission and why you need to blast the boos. He could sort of give you a goal and make you want to blast them. This character would obviously be an animatronic. Also, this character could have great marketing potential. He could be the official mascot of Boo Blasters. They could feature this character on T-shirts, mugs, keychains, etc. and would give the guests something to look forward to seeing, a relatable and recognizable character. Also, it might be fun to see some old photos hanging around in the lobby. Maybe portraits of past residents of the manor. They could be drawn cartoony and fun, in sort of a "painted" style. These things, I feel, would add an amazing element to this ride. I just feel like every time I'm standing in that lobby waiting, I look up at the cardboard ghosts going up and down and I think to myself, "I feel like I know nothing about this ride, about my mission or my goal other than blasting boos." I feel like this would be a pretty great upgrade if it could ever come to pass!

I agree. I think KI needs an attraction that is exclusive to KI and only KI. As many of you already know, I would love a state of the art dark ride with excellent theming. Something that really stands out from the other Cedar Fair parks and is considered a "must ride" attraction that would draw guests to our park. I know we have some of that with our coasters, but so do many other parks. I'd really like to see something unique, and I don't feel like we have that yet.

That's weird, I've been to the park several times this year (always a Saturday) and have never been given a receipt when I parked. I've handed the attendant my pass, and they just scan it, hand it back to me, and say "Have a nice day." I've never gotten a receipt. If that's something that they're supposed to do, then they've slacked off on the days I've went.

I used to LOVE the smell of the Smurf ride. It might be just me, but I've always liked the smell of dark rides. They always smell interesting.

I did in the 1980s but not anymore. I don't usually have enough stuff to fool with to make it worth my while. I leave my phone in my car, besides, did you come to KI to ride rides or to talk and text? I bring only my car key, the other keys I leave on my keyring in the car. I keep my car key on my lanyard ring, and then loop my lanyard around one of my belt loops so if my key falls out of my pocket, it will still be secured. Then of course I have my wallet, which goes nicely into my back pocket. So really, you just need to bring the basics to enjoy a fun filled day at the park. No fanny pack for me!

Save the Date - New World Record Breaking Attraction
Voicetek replied to Voicetek's topic in Kings Island
The Maestro was combing his hair getting ready to make another grand appearance! LOL...I wish -
Hey guys, I just got a text from Kings Island that said a new world record-breaking attraction will be announced Thursday August 8th at 10pm. The plans will be unveiled during this announcement!

Not sure about either of these hotels, but I went up there with my fiance and her sister a few years back and we stayed at a Best Western. It wasn't too far from the park, but you did have to drive there. The rooms were a great price and they were pretty nice. They also had an indoor pool and a hot tub. Nice hotel for a great price!

It's really not worth the risk to trespass. Am I curious about what's going on in the construction area? Absolutely! However, I'd never break the law and risk my safety just to catch a quick glimpse of something. I'm having enough fun with the clues they're giving us every so often. And I know that the official announcement isn't too far off. That's good enough for me!

I don't believe this for 2 seconds. I don't know if they could really make everyone sign a NDA just because they might see something when they're at the top of the Eiffel Tower. I think all that is nonsense!
-
Sounds great! Any chance we could see it?

I think I'm going to have to "unfollow" this thread. I leave for a few minutes at a time and my inbox gets slammed! I come back and I've got a butt load of e-mails to have to skim through. I'm not getting any work done lol.

Death at Six Flags over Texas
Voicetek replied to mullimann's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
This is probably true, but the odds of the lap bar failing and the seat belt failing at the same time are pretty high. Either one will fail or the other, but more than likely not at the same time. So I'll take my chances with a seat belt as a back up restraint.
