As soon as I heard that Dinosaurs Alive! was free this year with Gold Passes, I immediately started to fear the idea of large crowds. My wife and I walked through it the first year it was open and it was a very nice, calm area of the park. It was quite nice. I highly doubt it will continue to be such an area in the upcoming season. With free admission and cheaper admission, I highly doubt that people won't take advantage of that. I'm afraid we'll start to see some crowding in that area. Hopefully none of the dinos will be messed with or damaged. If so, I doubt that the free/cheaper admission will be here to stay. I hope I'm wrong. Hopefully it will be able to stay the same as it always has been because I'd like to enjoy some time in the area this year and perhaps years to come.

Which Kings Island attraction should be removed for future expansion?
Voicetek replied to Coaster Addict's topic in KI Polls
How many of these "what would you remove" threads are we going to get on here? Who's actually thinking about removing a ride? How about we leave the rides alone and only remove something if it's broken (ex. Son of Beast). Now upgrading or "re-theming" is a great idea, but removing is not something I want to do to any of the rides that are currently there. I enjoy pretty much everything that's at the park right now and wouldn't want to see anything go. -
I still vote for a Nintendo themed land. Mario characters and other popular game characters would be pretty sweet.

Gosh this was a no brainer. There is really no comparison between Phantom Theater and the other two on this list.

Charlie Brown Coming to the Big Screen
Voicetek replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Here is a newly released "teaser" trailer of the new film. It gives us a glimpse of what the film will look like when finished. I must say that I think the style is the perfect blend of 2D/3D style. Kind of curious to see more! -
^^A new magic show? I was unaware that the new show was a magic show. The show is called "Cirque Imagine," and the announcement said that it is a show, "...featuring an incredible showcase of strength, balance and athleticism." I'm not sure this is magic show.

They're going to take all the animatronic characters from the Phantom Theater and install them in and throughout Adventure Express. Inside the final tunnel, instead of the natives, it'll be phantoms and at the very top of the lift hill will sit good ol' Maestro playing his organ claiming that "You'll be back!" I believe the new name to this highly themed family coaster will be called "Phantom Express." I'm really looking forward to riding it on opening day!

My first thought was possibly some kind of special fountain(s), perhaps some kind of "jumping" fountain or something similar. Maybe that's what's going in the Action Zone circle. I guess we'll find out soon!

What would I like this year? For the scare actors, or whatever you call them, to wait to take their positions and to stay hidden while the "family" portion of the day is still going on. I was there last year and they were starting to transition into "Haunt" a good 30-40 minutes before the Howl-O-Palooza portion of the day was over. I thought we had lost track of time because we were walking back towards International Street and there were bloody, decomposing zombies and other such characters starting to come out and walk around. I checked my watch and we still had a good half hour or so left. I know most people could care less, but sometimes I'm there with my young niece or nephew and we choose not to attend "Haunt" because of these types of things. My nephew, who is also autistic, is frightened easily and very sensitive. If the schedule says that Howl-O-Palooza goes until 6, then there is no reason for bloodies zombies to be roaming around at 5:30.

Is it just me, or is anyone else getting frustrated with all this "wasted" space being used for only 2 months out of the year? I get tired of hearing things like, "Can't use that building because it's a permanent 'Haunt' attraction" or " 'Haunt' occupies that space, so we can't use that area" and so on and so fourth. For people who don't give a rip about any type of "Haunt" attraction or festivities of any kind (like myself), it's just frustrating to read stuff like this. I understand that the "Haunt" celebration at the park is a huge draw, but it's a very small part of their whole operating season. I wish there wouldn't be so much emphasis placed on it. If KI needed a space for a new main season attraction, I hope that they wouldn't hesitate to use a space or a building that already existed and not over look it because it's currently being occupied by a "Haunt" attraction. I, for one, enjoyed the Action Theater and was sad to see it go. Many, MANY great memories of all the films that once were featured in that attraction. It's sad when things start changing, but it's nice to see when new things come. Unfortunately, nothing of interest is really being displayed as of now in that building for me. Perhaps one day in the future!

Disney Fastpass+ at Walt Disney World
Voicetek replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
A video showing how quick and easy it was to use Fast Pass at Walt Disney World. This was a great system! -
Shaggy, would it be possible to create a new thread and post your collection (or a selection of them) from the Phantom Theater? It was also one of my favorites and I have some great memories from that ride and that time period. I'm sure there are many of us on here that would appreciate them!

The Chick-fil-a near where I live still plays Christian music with lyrics inside their restaurant. It's kind of nice to sit, relax, and eat your food without hearing music with cursing or sexual overtones. Especially when you're with your family.

Yes, leave the trees please. I love when trees surround and enclose the rides. It definitely has a different feel to it. Trees are one of my main theming items when I play Roller Coaster Tycoon. I love to place different kind of trees around the rides to create unique areas of the park. Kings Island has that going on, let's not mess it up.

Cedar Point 2014 Platinum Pass perks!
Voicetek replied to PhantomTheater's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It's nice to get perks for the Gold and Platinum passes, but I wish they would change the "Bring a Friend" days to days other than Mother's Day and Father's Day. -
I was going through some of my dad's old photo albums recently and came across this photo. This is a picture of my sister and me at KI in the late 80s. I'm on the right (what was I thinking with that outfit?) and my sister is on the left. The little girl in the middle is now my step-niece.

Those horrible rubber mats that you have to stand on while you're waiting in line for a slide. They hurt like crap to stand on and they make the bottoms of your feet look like waffles. I now wear water shoes when visiting Soak City.

I love the theming the way it is now with the whole alien thing. However, I will agree with the whole "refresh" idea. I wouldn't mind a different video in the queue and perhaps some newer electronic devices placed near the flying saucer instead of the 1980s computer components. Other than that, it works just great for me!

For the longest time, a couple seasons ago, that first lift hill used to make a loud popping sound and jerk the train as the train was catching the chain to be pulled up the lift hill. It used to scare the crap out of me. I didn't notice it as bad last season though. I thought maybe it had been fixed. I have no idea what was causing it. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about?

New for 2014 - Platinum/Gold Passes & Unlimited Dinosaurs Alive Access
Voicetek replied to MantisMan's topic in Kings Island
I'm excited about this news! My wife and I went through Dinosaurs Alive! the first year it opened. I think it was definitely worth doing once. The past couple of seasons I've been in the mood to check it out again, but never wanted to fork out the $5 a piece. However, this year I'm sure we'll be making several trips through the trails to check out the dinos. Looking forward to this now! -

Disney Interactive Layoffs
Voicetek replied to upstop's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I wanted to love the game because the idea of it was so unique. However, after playing games like Mario, Sonic, and Donkey Kong Country, but also more complex plat-formers like Ratchet and Clank, and the Tomb Raider series, I just couldn't grasp the controllers. They just weren't intuitive enough. I played pretty far into the game, but just became frustrated the longer I played. The game definitely showed promise though and I feel like, from what it seemed like on the demo, some of the control issues had been worked out.
