  1. Winterfest was elected back in 2005 as president of the park's holiday festivities. Unfortunately, Winterfest was impeached the following year.
  2. I might be crazy, but I start my Christmas shopping pretty early. I don't do this intentionally, but if I see something I want to buy someone for Christmas, then I go ahead and pick it up. Sometimes this can be as early as August. Plus spreading your Christmas shopping out over several months doesn't make as big a dent in your checking account as doing it all at once. With regards to Christmas decorations in the store, my girlfriend and I have been through the Christmas department in Walmart a couple times now already. We've even bought our wrapping paper! I think it's really a personal preference when you like to start thinking about/celebrating Christmas. Walmart has all their Christmas stuff in its own section back in the garden center (at least where I live anyways), so people have the choice whether or not to go look at it. It's not like it's right out in the open as soon as you walk through the door.
  3. Maybe they're taking a cue from "The Nightmare Before Christmas"
  4. Weren't they already dead to begin with?
  5. I'd rather see them inside the Crypt building actually set up and working. For good!
  6. If they re-opened Winterfest in December, it would make the off season feel shorter and give us a chance to see the park again after the regular season ends!
  7. This looked like a fun park. Would've liked to have visited :-)
  8. Sorry...didn't know you were joking
  9. So the song is about dancing is it? That's why he sings: "When I'm at the mall, security just can't fight them off And when I'm at the beach, I'm in a Speedo trying to tan my cheeks (what) This is how I roll, come on ladies it's time to go We headed to the bar, baby don't be nervous No shoes, no shirt, and I still get serviced" Yep sounds like a song about dancing to me.
  10. And I would point out that Tower of Terror and Rock 'n Roller Coaster are at the Disney Hollywood Studios, a theme park that is meant to showcase rides and attractions based on movies so those actually kind of fit. And Test Track isn't based on a movie, so I'm not sure that counts. I'm saying I don't really want to go to the Magic Kingdom and start seeing things like Iron Man and other films that aren't necessarily associated with the Disney brand. When I go to the Magic Kingdom I want to see things like Mickey, Goofy, Chip and Dale, Disney Princesses, Pooh Bear, Dumbo, Buzz Lightyear and Woody, etc.
  11. To me it's not whether or not the lyrics of the song are real or true or not. It's the content. I didn't like hearing my 8 year old niece singing the lyrics to this song..."I got passion in my pants and I ain't afraid to show it...I'm sexy and I know it." Regardless of if those lyrics are true or not, I wouldn't want my 5 or 6 year old daughter to be singing about "making love in the club" or having passion in her pants. And yes you are right, it is up to the parents to teach their kids right from wrong, but unfortunately some parents today aren't doing that. I'm very concerned about the type of media our kids, young kids, are being exposed to today, regardless of the form.
  12. I'm not sure how I feel about Iron Man coming to Disneyland. It kind of feels the same way as Avatar coming to Animal Kingdom. I feel like anything at any of the Walt Disney theme parks should be things that are specifically branded as Disney. I understand that Disney owns Marvel now, but they don't release any of the Marvel films under the Disney name. You don't see the Disney Castle intro before films like Iron Man or The Avengers, so you really don't associate any of those movies with Disney. So I think they might feel a little out of place at the Disney parks. Although I love Iron Man and other Marvel movies, having an Iron Man attraction at Disneyland would make it feel more like Universal. I would much rather see Disney stick to creating rides and attractions based on movies that strictly carry the Disney (or Pixar) brand name.
  13. I agree that this really isn't an appropriate song for children no matter how many kids know it and sing it. My 8 year old niece was singing it one day and I put a stop to that pretty quick, but then explained why it wasn't a good song to be singing. I was at a wedding reception 2 weeks ago and they played all kinds of music that I wouldn't find appropriate for children. And what was sad, all these young girls that were there, probably around 6-8 years old, were singing right along with the lyrics. They were singing along with songs about being sexy, going to clubs, getting drunk, hooking up at clubs, etc. I think we're exposing our children to things way to early. These kids don't know the difference at that young of an age. I doubt they even know what they're singing about, they just like the song. But these lyrics and themes get into their heads and after some time, could have a negative effect. The problem is that these songs are part of our popular culture and somehow that makes them acceptable. I can't tell you how many times I've heard "inappropriate" songs at "family" type events. Sorry didn't mean to go on a rant and get off topic, but I thought I would just express my opinion related to these 2 posts!
  14. Not sure what you're asking here. A discount and a "Bring a friend for a discount day" are two separate things. The discount I was referring to was a cheaper renewal price. I believe the current price for a new pass or a renewal is $79.99? A renewal price of like $69.99 or even $74.99 would be nice. I was saying that I agreed with him on the renewal price discount statement. I didn't necessarily agree that people renewing passes needed a free day since we already had a pass and had unlimited days. I do think though that people renewing should be given a slight discount as a perk for being a loyal KI customer, that's all.
  15. I kinda semi agree with this. I don't know why people renewing would need a free day this season as we have unlimited visits already, but I do think we should get a slight discount. Renewal passes should be a little less than a brand new one. That kinda makes sense. Although I don't really have an issue with the current pass price (I think it's a great price for what you get, even free parking!), I wouldn't mind a slight discount as an incentive to renew or as a perk for being a loyal customer.
  16. I would love to see Boo Blasters scrapped and rebuilt into a new "Peanuts" themed dark ride. It could span the original space that the Smurf ride used to use. Westcoaster mentioned a Snoopy dark ride based on the holidays. This reminds me of the Smurf ride. I think that would be a great idea. It could be based on some of the classic scenes from the Peanuts' holiday specials like Christmas, Halloween, Valentines Day, etc. We've all seen those specials, it would be fun to ride a dark ride and experience them in full animatronic form. What would be even more fun, is if they put the boats back in instead of the conveyor belt system. This is just me dreaming of course, but I'd love to see something like this in the future!
  17. Yes me too!
  18. About 20 minutes from my girfriend's house. About 30 minutes from my house.
  19. I love the smell of dark rides! They all have a certain smell. I remember it when I was younger from riding the Smurfs and then in Phantom Theater. Even the dark rides at places like Disney World have that same smell. I can't really describe it. Maybe it's the smell of the animatronics, I don't really know. That is the smell that brings back a lot of memories for me!
  20. Ok great, so the reason is for security. Since I've never been to "Haunt", I'm unfamiliar with the kind of crowd it draws. I can see how these types of people could get drunk and carried away. That answers my question. Thanks!
  21. Cedar Point for sure!
  22. Glad you had a good time! I also love your ratings...9.1/10, 7.8/10, Very specific!
  23. Pretty much any of the dark rides from the past: The Enchanted Voyage, The Smurfs, Phantom Theater, or Scooby-Doo. I'd take 1 or all 4, doesn't matter to me!
  24. What's stopping people from doing that at any point during KI's operating season?
  25. My problem isn't with having your hand stamped, I understand that completely. During the summer, my girlfriend and I will go to the waterpark during the day, get our hand stamped and leave and go get some lunch/dinner. Then we'll return to go to the main park for the evening. I completely understand that part and don't have a problem with it. I guess what I'm confused about is why, even with a hand stamp, you're not allowed to return to "Haunt" after 7 pm. It would make sense if it was ending at 7:30 or 8, but it goes on til 1 in the morning. Why couldn't a person with a hand stamp come back? I understand there was a sign posted, I guess I'm just wondering about the actual reasoning behind it.
