  1. Don't know if anyone else was there or maybe heard about this, but a couple of years ago my girlfriend and I were riding the train and the train just started to leave the station and something caught the water tower and knocked something apart, or yanked something off or something and water started pouring all over the top and into the train. Lots of people got wet and the train came to an immediate stop and they closed it down for a while. Not sure exactly what happened because it all happened so fast and was unexpected, but it sure was crazy! You don't expect to see a huge outpouring of water on the train as you're leaving the station! Did anyone else witness this or have any information?
  2. Yeah I definitely think there should be some kind of age limit placed on buying a lighter. I think you should be a certain age to be able to purchase a lighter. Is this the case? If so, then you'd have to be a certain age to play those games and win one. Of course there is no way to monitor these games, so like you said, there is nothing keeping a young child from coming up and winning a Zippo lighter. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want my young child to have a lighter. It seems as if there are lots of other options that could be placed in these machines/games besides lighters.
  3. Yeah we rented just one of the small lockers. It's big enough to fit both of our stuff in. We usually pack light knowing that we're going to have limited space. I liked the way you could rent your locker from the kiosk and even type in your own 4 digit code. That was really a nice feature. However, I still think 12 bucks for a locker is kind of much!
  4. Finally made it out to Soak City today! My girlfriend and I decided to go out to Soak City today, it was kind of overcast and it looked like rain, but we decided to attempt it anyway. It was a good thing we did too because the weather kept the big crowds away. We didn't arrive until about 4:15 and the first thing we did was try the new wave pool. It wasn't very crowded at all! There were also plenty of tubes to grab. So we grabbed some tubes and enjoyed 3 rounds of waves. Next we walked over to Mondo Monsoon. We love that slide, but the line is always long. As always, this was a long line today, the longest line in the whole waterpark. After that we thought we'd give the new Splash River a try. I was kind of concerned because I've heard some negative reviews on here about all the water sprayers. However, it wasn't as bad as I thought. Yeah, it was kind of annoying being sprayed, but the stream of water wasn't as powerful as I was fearing. So all in all, Splash River was pretty fun. Next I decided to go on Rendezvous Run which is always fun. After that it was starting to rain a little and the air was getting kind of cool. By this time is was about 6:15, so we decided to go back over to the new wave pool and enjoy a few more rounds of waves before we left. It was kind of a short visit today, but it was nice to get to walk around Soak City for the first time and experience some of the new additions/upgrades. We hope to get back at least one more time this season on a day where it's actually hot and sunny!
  5. What about best defunct area? My vote would be Hanna-Barbera Land! However, I do like Coney Mall, Rivertown (especially the way it was in the 80's/90's) and Oktoberfest. Also, I wish they would fix the clock on the top of the Festhaus! I loved watching the little animated characters come out and do their little thing. I'd like to see that again!
  6. That's kind of sad actually. I kinda liked Disaster Transport. Any time I managed to get up to Cedar Point, I always made an effort to ride that. The last time I got up there was in 2009. I went with my girlfriend and her sister. That day at the park the weather was horrible. It stormed and poured rain all day. Because of this it got rather chilly. Disaster Transport was an excellent ride to go into and escape the nasty weather while still being able to have some fun. I will miss it the next time I'm there. I understand rides like this eventually get replaced by bigger and better ones, but it's still kind of disappointing.
  7. It seems like when Americana and Fantasy Farm were around, they got a lot of the "rough" crowd or the "wannabe" gangstas. Once they closed and Kings Island became more affordable, it seems like they've all flocked there. Back in the 80's when my mom and dad split, my dad would get my sister and I Kings Island passes, but my mom couldn't afford those so she would always get passes to Americana. She'd jokingly say that Americana brought in the "Kings Island rejects". Seems as though those people are no longer Kings Island rejects but part of the everyday crowd. I'm not too thrilled with some of the people that attend now...you know who they are. They want to smoke in line (or anywhere else for that matter) and cuss and cause a scene, act gangsta or ghetto and just simply ruin the atmosphere for people like my girlfriend and I, or families who are trying to have an enjoyable time with their kids. I say lets raise pass prices ever so slightly and open Americana back up. Maybe this will balance things out again the way it used to be in the 80's lol.
  8. Congo was quite a big movie when it came out in the 90's. It was right after Jurassic Park and it was the next sort of Action/Sci-Fi movie to be based on a Michael Crichton novel. I think the film makers had high hopes for this movie, probably expecting it to be as successful as Jurassic Park. However, it was not. That's probably why some people haven't even heard of it. I've seen it a few times, not a bad movie, not a good movie lol.
  9. The KI tokens are worth more this season. You only get 2 tokens for $1 in the arcades now. You used to get 4 for $1! What a rip off!
  10. I'll give you 2 KI tokens for your 1 Paramount token
  11. I don't know if I like the unlimited like thing. What's the point of likes if you can just like every post? I think they need to be limited to some number, maybe 10? I don't know. What do you all think?
  12. Love this post lol. "The 1990's called, they want their dreams back"...classic! I agree though, I vote dark ride. I think a dark ride would be awesome. We don't have enough dark rides. Did I mention I'd like a dark ride? We have plenty of space for one! Put one in Action Zone, put one in the old Crypt building, heck, tear down the Action Theater and put one back there. I don't care where it goes, I just think we need one! 2013 dark ride...whoo hoo!
  13. I don't know, but he came out of nowhere and is able to offer unlimited likes? His avatar is kinda creepin' me out though
  14. I agree! I think 3-4 likes is ridiculous. I can see not wanting to give people unlimited likes, but we definitely don't have enough in my opinion. I think like 10 likes per 24 hour period would be more realistic. I too forget to come back and like posts the next day. I'd rather just have some more up front.
  15. Thanks everyone for the information! I appreciate the help with answering my question
  16. Ok that's what I was thinking the new deal was. It's been so long since I've actually bought a season pass (I usually renew mine) that I couldn't remember what the new policy was. Thanks for the info!
  17. Hey guys I have a question that maybe some of you might know the answer to. My neice was going to buy a pass for this season earlier this summer but was still trying to save up some money and is just now being able to look into it. I know at some point years back when they offered the passes for the next season late into the current operating season, if you bought a pass for the next season you were able to use that pass to finish off the remainder of the current season. Does anyone know if that is still the case? So if my neice waited til like next month when the 2013 passes are availabe and she bought one, would she be able to go to KI for the rest of this season with the 2013 pass? Is that still the case or has it changed? I'd hate for her to waste her money on a 2012 season pass this late into the season if she could just wait a month and buy a pass for next year. She's 9 and it's not like she has a ton of money to blow. She's been saving up money from her birthday and stuff to try to buy one. Any information you could give me on how this works would be great. Thanks!
  18. Does anyone remember back in the summer of 2008 when Full Throttle trucks were at KI quite a bit handing out free Full Throttle? I don't know if I just timed it right or what, but it seemed like everytime my girlfriend and I went to the park that season, there was a big Full Throttle truck parked up by the entrance passing them out. I got so much free Full Throttle that summer it was fantastic! Does anyone know what that was all about? I really wish they'd do that again...lol!
  19. Crap I can't believe I missed this! I really wanted to go that year, but never got the chance to get out for it. I would've loved to have seen that show again!
  20. It does suck unfortunately. If you're serious about doing Halloween Haunt every year, then my advice to you is to try to jump on getting a gold pass for next season so you can be sure to check out Haunt next year!
  21. The park is also open until Midnight this Saturday, so that should give you an extra 2 hours of ride time. Happy B-Day by the way and have fun!
  22. No regular passes, as far as I know, do not get free admission to Halloween Haunt. Gold passes do. And what do you mean by does it last after Memorial Day? Memorial Day was in May. If it's a pass for the 2012 season then of course it will be good all summer, especially after May.
  23. Oh ok that makes sense. I think doing something like that would be pretty fun. And what's up with people? The guy's 70, let him enjoy his life! I'm assuming by this age he's probably retired? If so, if this is what he wants to do with his retirement than who cares? Looks like fun to me!
  24. I've always been curious about this, but is someone keeping track of his rides besides him? Is there like an official log somewhere? What's keeping me from showing up with a custom t-shirt claiming that I've ridden something like maybe Flight of Fear 7,000 times? Not saying that he hasn't done this, but I've always wondered how or who was keeping track.
  25. Ok I was just thinking about this today and I have no idea if anyone will know what I'm talking about, but I'll ask anyway. Back when they used to do Winterfest at KI they used to have shows and each season would be a different show. This one season, I'd say it was back in the 80s, there was this one scene where this boy was running away from home on Christmas and he was like sitting on top of a roof and this little alien puppet thing beamed down or something and talk to him. I think they ended up singing "I'll Be Home for Christmas". Does anyone have any idea what show I'm talking about? If so, do you remember what it was called and do any pictures or videos exist of this (probably not though)?
