I really hope they don't keep it a Haunt attraction forever. I'd really like the building utilized and maybe some time of new ride put into it. There is another post on here with a lot of great ideas that could be done to that building, some of which include an indoor mini-coaster as well as a new dark ride of some kind. My vote is for either of those things!

Yes, I think ours is lacking more of a story. I think it would cool if they would've put some kind of an animatronic in the queue line where we used to watch the Maestro play. This animatronic character could've explained to us the story behind the Mansion/Manor/Castle(?) and the legend of the Boos and Boocifer. Not only would this have made the ride more engaging, but it would've also served as some entertainment in the queue line and made things a little more interesting than watching those black light cardboard ghosts drawn by Sharpie markers go up and down...up and down.

I'm with you, I really wanted a Great Pumpkin or at least a Peanuts themed dark ride reminiscent of the old Smurfs dark ride. It wouldn't of even had to involve the shooters, it could've just been a classic dark ride. As far as Boo Blasters go, yes, the name is horrible. I don't know who thought it was a good name. It's like someone just came up with it on the spot without any thought. Boo Blasters would've been fine. However, the whole ride itself is just kind of missing something. I think it might be relatable characters and perhaps the overusage of "cardboard-like" cutouts throughout. It just felt like a lame, unappealing version of Scooby-Doo (because it pretty much is). I just think everyone could've benefited from a high quality Peanuts dark ride! Even the ride it's based on (Ghost Blasters II) at least sets up the story by introducing the bad guy and having a short pre-show to explain where you are, why you're there, and how to rid the place of the evil phantom. Our ride also falls a bit short thanks to the decision to keep the Phantom Theater omnimovers instead of the new, individual carts that each other Scooby Doo dark ride got. Theirs are all custom built, while ours was just a retrofit of the old system. The result is that, on other parks' Boo Blasters, each effect has time to reset and trigger for the next rider. Something as simple as the video of the bad guy that plays on the tombstone head early on telling you that you're trespassing at least adds some depth to the story. In our ride, a cart passes every 5 seconds or so, so everyone just catches a glimpse of every effect that can barely be heard anyway over the dozens of guns firing at any given time. One of the best effects on the ride, in my opinion, is at the end. The phantom (a full animatronic) is standing in a stone well covered in vines with storm clouds in the sky. He yells, "You'll never leave Bleakstone Manor! Never!" Then you shoot him, he screams and the animatronic literally lowers into the ground while all the blacklights go out and white lights turn up, replacing the scary scene with a beautiful one - instead of gnarled vines climbing the well, roses suddenly appear. The sky clears and the sun comes out. You can hear birds chirping. Ours, of course, completely removes this effect because there's no time for the lights to reset since three or four cars are always aimed at it. (Skip to 4:05) Yes, I think ours is lacking more of a story. I think it would cool if they would've put some kind of an animatronic in the queue line where we used to watch the Maestro play. Now see, this is creative! This is the kind of stuff I like to see. I think there are a few of us on here that should request to be KI's creative team overseeing future development of the park lol. I honestly feel that there are people on here who have better ideas than the park's current creative team. I mean, they were the ones that gave us "Boo Blasters on Boo Hill". Really? Common people!

I was only like 20 when I first rode Son of Beast and it still hurt. However, I was the same height as I am today, which is approx. 6 ft. tall. So maybe not so much age, but height? I'd agree with height, but not age!

I wonder how many of those people that want SoB "fixed" actually have been on SoB.Back in 2000, I can remember many days I also wanted SoB open. Then I finally rode it and was upset that what I wanted caused so much pain. Yes! I too was extremely excited to ride it. Then when I did, I could hardly bare the pain. Over the years I kept "trying" to ride it, but it just hurt to bad. Yeah it was big, fast and fun...but it really wasn't worth the pain that it caused so I eventually just stopped riding it altogether. Tear it down I say! Put up a new extreme steal coaster! LOL

I've been to Disney World several times. First was back in 1997, then again in 2000, then in 2004, and most recently last summer 2011. I think for the most part they seem the same. They may add a new ride, or convert an old ride into something new (example: Alien Encounters in Magic Kingdom became Experiment 626 with Stitch), but overall I feel like it always felt the same. All the classic attractions that you expect to see are there along with all the great theming!

KI & Miami Valley Railroad 1980 magazine article
Voicetek replied to standbyme's topic in Kings Island
Great article! I love how in some of the pictures you can see the old town scenery along with some of the old animatronic people in the towns. Brings back memories. Thanks! -
Wow sounds like a very exciting/scarey day! I've been at KI during storms, but none that were that bad! Thank God everyone was safe and no one was hurt!

I agree. It all seems so different now and sometimes I long to visit the park the way it used to be. Of course, that is impossible. But I would like to see some of the old things return. I agree with railroader19, I'd love to see some of the old scenery put back on the train ride. I loved it when they had the animatronic figures, it added so much to that ride instead of just being a transport to Soak City!

What a bunch of losers. Get a life and get a job! Quit stealing people's credit cards! PS. I do agree though that people need to leave their valuables in their cars, but common. People have to be pretty low to steal people's money and credit cards then go on a shopping spree!

Remove Adventure Express? Are you serious? Heck no! That ride is a classic and is great for families! Son of Beast..yes, Adventure Express...NO!

Hello EnchantedMoon! Welcome to the forum!

If I could have it my way I'd take it back to the way it was when it was Hanna-Barbera land. Of course, that would be pointless for kids today, but I'm sure many adults would love it! I'd say Nick is best for kids nowadays. So Nick or Hanna-Barbera would be my vote!

My family and I are actually going there in August. We'll be down there from August 18th (Sat) til August 25 (Sat). Does anyone know any good days to go to the park? Are any days less crowded than others? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

I was mainly a Scooby-Doo kid, but there were occasions that I would take a ride on Jabberjaw. I thought it was cool how you could sit on his fin and I'd look up at his mouth full of teeth. Ah..memories!

I also found this video on YouTube with some awesome footage from the actual puppet show!

I found this picture on Google images and it actually was linked to another topic in this forum. By the way, I'm not taking credit for this photo, it's not mine. I just thought I'd share it since it's relevant in here!

I've got a couple: 1. The first drop on Diamondback 2. The final lift hill/tunnel on Adventure Express

That's what I think too, but part of the argument on here is that the kids' area should appeal to adults too since they're the ones bringing the kids. I mean, in the end I think the kids have the final say so if they want to visit the "kids" area, but of course it would be nice if the adults/parents enjoyed it too. Then it's just a win-win situation!

Personally I thought it was a little bit of a let down when it went from Nick Universe to Planet Snoopy. I think with Nick Universe things had more variations. Each ride/attraction was something different whereas in Planet Snoopy, there are repeats of stuff. Snoopy Surf Dog, Snoopy Red Baron, Snoopy this, Snoopy that, Linus this, Linus that...etc. You get the point. Plus, I find the Nick Toons more appealing in look, design, and color. Things were more colorful or something. As an adult, I was just kind of underwhelmed with Planet Snoopy and this is coming from someone who grew up watching the Peanuts gang and who is a fan of them. I was just disappointed at how they translated into a kids area. I find it just not that interesting as it was before as Nick Universe.

Yes, as far as I know Mario is popular among the female demographic as well. Both my neice and my girlfriend love the Mario games including Super Mario Bros and also Mario Kart. Also, I worked with elementary school kids that ranged from ages 5 to 10 for 8 years. The girls in my classes were also familiar with Mario and liked playing the games on the Wii and the DS. So in my opinion the Mario characters would definitely be good for both boys and girls.

Wow that's awesome! I've always wanted to walk through a dark ride when it wasn't running. I'm assuming this was after it was shut down for the day?
