I just saw behind the scenes of Cars Land on TV last week during the airing of "Cars". I was completely blown away by the detail that was put into this! It looked just like Radiator Springs and the rides even fit within the theme, the didn't feel separated or like they were an afterthought. I love how Disney incorporates all the elements into their park and that makes for amazing theming. I really wish KI would do something like this. Not necessarily as detailed as Cars Land, but something that brings the space together so it's not just a collection of stand-alone, individual rides.

Who all thinks Surf Dog would be cooler if they had a big surfing Snoopy on top? They had the big Aang, so I think they should replace it with a big Snoopy!
-
What if someone cloned them self? Then they would look the same and have the same fingerprints so that they could easily get through the fingerprint scanners too

I might be going to KI this evening. I'll see what kind of score I can get and post a pic

My score could be a lot higher if those stupid blasters worked half the time!

I agree Delirium13, this ride was way better quality than the junk we have now. However, I am glad that they kept it a dark ride at all. I'm hoping that KI will come to their senses and put in another high quality dark ride either in the same building, or maybe add another one someplace else. I miss the quality dark rides that they used to have like The Enchanted Voyage, Smurfs and Phantom Theater. I loved the use of animatronics and I hate the use of stupid cardboard cutouts they have now. It's cheap and it's a major insult to the once great dark rides that once existed in that building. It's also an insult to their guests as well! Do they think we pay good money to come out and see some cardboard? Not me! I hope we see another unique, high quality dark ride in the future. We can only hope I guess!

This is interesting. I'd also be curious to know what the exact system is for calculating points and offering rewards. I feel like they should have this posted somewhere so we know what the heck we're doing. Is it like so many points per dollar spent like at Subway? Or is it so many points per visits/purchases? These are questions that we'd like to know. If anyone is able to crack this case, please share the info with the rest of us!

I had the same problem yesterday. I have a renewed Gold Pass and I tried several times throughout the day to enter my pass number to register. It kept saying that it was an invalid card. I e-mail them and got a letter back today saying to try it again. It worked today. Must've been something on their end. Glad we got registered!

Which does NOT mean he was not disabled. My mother died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She could walk...about 15 feet. After which she was completely exhausted and out of breath. Assuming someone is as able as most of the rest of us based on appearances is at best ignorant (which means not knowing) and at worst a sign of arrogance. Not all disabilities can be seen. Perhaps the man in question WAS a faker, but there is a very good chance he was not. Ok, so even if this guy had some kind of disease that prevented him from walking 15 feet, what's he doing on Son of Beast? It seems like if he had some kind of non-visible disease that would make him unable to walk, it would be kind of risky to ride a ride as intense as Son of Beast. Sigh. Years ago, the attitude was "They are crippled, they need to stay home and do nothing until they die." The Americans with Disabilities Act requires that places of public accommodation make reasonable accomodations for the differently abled. That one cannot walk a certain distance does not mean that one is not necessarily able to safely enjoy Son of Beast (if, indeed, anyone can). It is a violation of the law to inquire as to the nature of a patron's disability, too, unless EVERY patron is so asked. I didn't say that crippled/handicapped people should stay home at all. All I said was if this person had a serious disease, such as a heart related disease that might've prohibited him from walking, that it might be kind of dangerous for him to get on something as intense as the Son of Beast. Especially since most coasters have signs that say not to get on if you have heart conditions.

We take cheap towels, old t-shirts and 5 dollar Ikea rubber shoes. This works well for 2 reasons. One, if cheap towels, old t-shirts and 5 dollar Ikea rubber shoes are stolen, no big loss, and the total is still less than a locker rental. Two, who the Hades would want cheap towels, old t-shirts and 5 dollar Ikea rubber shoes? LOL this is a great idea! I guess this is something I might have to look into

I do leave my valuables at home and in the car, but what are you supposed to do with your clothes and shoes? It's pretty much impossible to get around needing a locker. I guess you could take your chances and leave your shirt, shoes, and towel out on a lounge chair or in the grass, but judging by the original topic of this post, that's not a great idea. So because of that, people feel they need to buy a locker to keep their things safe.

If Gasoline is $4.00 a Gallon, People Still buy it because we need it. If Lockers are $20 a day or $20 an Hour, people will buy them because they need them. KI can charge whatever they want for them because unless you want to be succeptable to Thieves, you'll buy them... I was going to say the same thing! The lockers are sold out because people need them, not because they enjoy paying for them. If there was a way to get around buying a locker, I sure as heck would!

I totally agree with you, I would love to see KI put something unique in that building. Something unique and something that has theming. I think theming is one thing that's lacking on a lot of the rides at KI.

I'd like to see them turn that old "History of Paramount" area or whatever it was called into a History of Kings Island area. They could have some vintage pictures, old ride props, behind the scenes videos and whatever else. That's just empty space not being used. I've always thought that would be cool to walk through
-
dudecoasterman, I'm sorry that you never got to experience this ride! Have you ridden Boo Blasters? That ride is a disgrace to the Phantom Theater and dark rides in general. I really with KI would put a high quality dark ride in again. They are so much fun and very unique! Plus they are fun for the whole family and give you a chance to relax and cool off after a hot day riding coasters!

I can see this being a good investment if you're coming here on a vacation, but for people who live close and have season passes, I don't know if it's worth it. I've had a season pass just about every year and I've always gotten to ride whatever I wanted. The key is to go up during a weekday evening when the attendance is not so heavy. This is what's good about having a season pass. If I was coming from out of town though, I'd definitely look into it so that I could get more ride time out of my day.

Soak City admission might be free, but they sure do make their money on locker rentals don't they?

I really like this idea, but the only problem with it is that little kids (I'm talking 3-year-olds) ideally should be able to recognize many of the characters depicted. Kids (I hope) probably don't get into video games for several years after that, mainly because games of the kind you refer to usually require the ability to read. If 3-year-olds are into video games, they're most likely the educational type, which often just reuse characters from TV shows aimed at kids those age, not the platformers and shooters and Pokémon games. I can see your point, I wasn't really thinking about really young children. I'm basing this really on my neice and nephew, 9 and 5, who really like to play Mario and Sonic. Also, I worked with elementary school kids for 8 years and those kids ranged from ages 5 to 10. They were really into the Mario, Sonic and Pokemon games on Nintendo and Playstation.

Sorry I have not been to Soak City yet. I was referring to the lockers from last year. They were so small that my girlfriend and I could barely get our stuff in there. And no way was I buying 2 lockers at $10 a peice! So yeah "sad excuse for a locker" was referring to last year's lockers being small and expensive! I'll be curious to check out the new lockers this season.

This happened to a friend of mine about 10 years ago. We went on a weekday evening and there wasn't hardly any people there. He decided not to get a locker and he laid his clothes and shoes on a lounge chair. When he came back his clothes and shoes, and I think even towel, were gone. Who steals someone elses clothes and shoes? That's just ridiculous! Needless to say we always got lockers after that. Too bad Kings Island screws you over on locker rentals in the waterpark. $10 for that sad excuse for a locker is robbery! They should be ashamed!

This wasn't done ON the ride, but in the loading station. The first year Son of Beast open, my friend and I were waiting in the horribly long line. We got up close enough to where you could see the loading station. We saw this guy (he had a friend with him) roll up the exit ramp in a wheel chair. Of course he got special treatment and didn't have to wait in line. When it came time for him to get in the train, he stood up out of his wheel chair, folding it up, rolled it off to the side and walked over to the train and sat down. He didn't even need the wheel chair! He just wanted to ride the Son of Beast without waiting in line. I think every person waiting in line boo'd at this guy, and his friend, as they took their seats on the train. What a loser!

I've got a 2012 Gold Pass and when I try to sign up for the Fun Perks on the web site, it keeps saying that my card is not valid. That's strange, cause I've already been to the park twice this season. Seemed pretty valid to me. I contacted them with my issue and card number, hopefully they'll be able to figure it out. I'd like to participate in the Fun Perks program.

Yes I read that too. It said that they plan on using the space for this season's Halloween Haunt. I was just wondering what people thought would be cool to put in this space eventually, when not being used for Halloween Haunt?

So The Crypt is finally done (thank God) and will leave behind that empty building. What do you guys think should be put in there? Should the building be torn down, or converted into something else? What are some of your ideas?
