  1. Wow I can't believe I missed that! I used to drive by there all the time on my way to school (I had some classes at Miami U Middletown). I used to ride that coaster all the time when I was younger. It's kind of sad to see rides like that get torn down.
  2. I figured someone on here would know the answer to my question. A friend of mine told me that the drove past Americana the other day and didn't notice the old wooden coaster the Screechin' Eagle. Did he totally just overlook it, or did they tear it down? I haven't driven past there in quite sometime and I don't know when I'll get the chance to drive past again. Just wondering if anyone in here knew anything about that. Thanks!
  3. There are parts in the ride where the car you're riding in goes up what's supposed to be stair cases I guess. You are definitely going up to another level. Then, I believe, you come back down at one point as well. I wasn't talking about the elevator part before you load. That is obviously an illusion. However, during the actual ride part you do go up and down to various levels.
  4. It IS about time for a family ride that's actually a coaster though. How old is stunt track? That's the newest we've got Where did we get the idea for a reincarnated Phantom Theater in this post? I made a joke about expanding Adventure Express. I don't remember reading anything about bringing the Phantom Theater back within this post. It's been mentioned in other posts though.
  5. Yeah I know, I was half joking. I was trying to think of the most outrageous idea, something that would never happen. That was the first thing I came up with
  6. I have the greatest idea ever! Tear down Son of Beast and expand Adventure Express! You could triple the ride length of that ride and add more tunnels and more animatronic native guys! They could add caves or tombs...it could be part dark ride, part coaster. Yep I think that's it
  7. I've been through the old brochure/map section on this web site but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Does anyone remember the old promotional brochure that was sent out about Adventure Express when it was going to open? I remember my dad got it in the mail and showed it to me. It was basically a brochure that told about the ride and had some preliminary artwork of the ride. Does anyone remember this? Does anyone know if this still exists anywhere? It's really not that important, I was just thinking about it recently and was wondering if I could hunt it down so I could take a look at it again. Thanks!
  8. Cobblestone, brick..whichever works. I was just thinking about something that would resemble an old road. I've just always thought that that area would be great to theme, especially for a ride like Phantom Theater. I'd almost like the building to appear somewhat hidden and then get revealed the further you walk down the path. I've created something like this in Roller Coaster Tycoon and often imagine what it would be like if KI ever brought the Phantom Theater back and put it in a location that was fully themed.
  9. I love watching documentaries that has old footage. Is "Greetings from Coney Island" the name of the documentary? I might like to check this out.
  10. I'd remove that and install Phantom Theater 2.0 or The Phantom Theater Returns. It would be like the original, but better. Instead of one level it would have 2 kind of like the Haunted Mansion at Disney. Also, I'd have a cobblestone path leading down to the new building and theme the area with trees and old lamps and lamp posts. And of course sound effects coming from hidden speakers. It would be a whole experience!
  11. This is exactly right. That's why if they're going to spend the time and the money to expand a park, I'd like to see them try something different not just do revamps of rides we already have. Do we need 2 flying Dumbo rides? I'm not sure. Also, I thought it was a joke when they were talking about expanding Animal Kingdom to create an Avatar land. That's crazy, it's not even Disney! Maybe this is where the Pocahontas idea could fit. I think that land would fit great in Animal Kingdom. You could build the forest, Pocahontas' village, and right in the center of it call you could have a full size Grandmother Willow that you could talk to and she could respond. Maybe have a ride built into the area also, maybe some authentic shops and restaurants. To me, I think this would be a much better use of space than an Avatar land. Plus, it is the Disney brand and still family appropriate. I don't really get Avatar. Again, it was so out of left field. I'm sure that whatever they have planned will turn out to be spectacular, but I can't help but wonder why one of their own properties wasn't chosen for such an expansion (i.e Carsland). Carsland has completely turned California Adventure around much the same way that Potter did for Universal Orlando. I've been reading stories about shops running out of Carsland merchandise already, not to mention the huge crowds that have descended upon DCA. Is Avatar going to do the same thing for Animal Kingdom? Sure is going to be interesting to see....whenever it opens in the next 4 years or so - Todd Since Avatar is pretty much a direct rip off of Pocahontas, it seems like Disney would just do that instead. It's also already part of the Disney brand, and I feel like it's much more family friendly than Avatar.

  13. I understand all of this. I'm a huge Disney fan. My life's goal was to be an animator. I've been studying Disney, the history of Disney and Disney animation for close to 25 years now. I agree that Snow White is probably a must since without that movie, we wouldn't have Disney as we know it today or even no Disney at all. I was mainly just stating that there are so many other movies that would make great rides and attractions, but they seem to always use the same ones. I've been on the Aladdin ride by the Tiki Room. Its ok, but it's nothing special. I'd like to see a fully realized attraction based on this movie with effects and all. I understand that The Lion King is represented in Animal Kingdom, but its really not a ride. They have a show, maybe some merchandising, and that's about it. Yeah Tangled is represented by someone in a costume, but that's not what I was talking about. What about a Tangled attraction? Some type of ride? How cool would a Hunchback of Notre Dame or Hercules dark ride be? What about a water/dark ride of Pocahontas? Families could get into a canoe shaped boat and travel "just around the river bend". Maybe sail past an animatronic talking Grandmother Willow? You could also meet Meeko and Flit, sail through the woods to find Governor Ratcliffe and his men digging for gold. Granted, this might be a better ride for Animal Kingdom, but you get what I'm talking about. I'm not in any way trying to take away from the significance of Snow White or other classic movies that have made Disney what it is today. What I am saying though is that there's a whole library of amazing Disney films that could be turned into even more amazing rides and attractions. I just would like to see this happen eventually!
  14. I'm a huge Disney fan and LOVE Walt Disney World! Every time I go I just get lost in the place. The atmosphere and the surroundings pull me in and I could just stay there all day and not ever get tired! I was there last August and got to see some of the construction of the new Fantasy Land addition and I was pretty excited. I only really have one complaint on the whole thing...I wish that if they were going to expand the park that they'd put in rides/attractions based on some of their newer films. Why put in more Snow White and Dumbo rides? I understand that these films are classic, but what I really would've like to have seen would be a ride/attraction based on The Lion King, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Aladdin, or even Tangled. I do love the Little Mermaid dark ride. I've seen videos of the one from California and think it's amazing. I also love the idea of the Beauty and The Beast castle. I think these are great new additions because they're based on more current films. I just feel like Disney has a whole lot of movies that would make fantastic attractions, rides or even dark rides that would bring a new feel to the park. Maybe we'll see some of these in the future!
  15. Unfortunately that makes sense... I think Nick universe was the best time period. It was and still would be modern and relevant for kids. They themed it heavily on sponge bob which will never get old(modern Mickey mouse) and it felt right for it to be nick universe. Now it just feel like the same old generic old time snoopy crap at every other park. Cedar Fair is terrible at doing anything fun and original theme wise I agree. Even as an adult I loved walking through Nick Universe! Now I could care less. I know it's supposed to be for the kids and all, but I still don't think it's as fun of or as appealing an atmosphere as it was when it was Hanna-Barbera or Nick Universe.
  16. I highly doubt that we'll see another re-theme of the kids area as long as Cedar Fair owns KI. They have the rights to use the Peanuts characters in their parks. Why would they buy rights to something else just for KI? As much as I'd like to see it themed something else eventually, unfortunately I don't think that will happen.
  17. Unfortunately I don't have much KI gear. I never think to buy anything when I go to the park! I do have a First Rider t-shirt that they were giving out on the opening day of the Diamondback back in 2009. Its a pretty cool shirt and I like to wear it when I go to the park. Perhaps I should purchase some stuff at the park at some point lol.
  18. Gosh, I was unaware that it was KIC Day this past Saturday. I think I remember reading something about that, but I haven't really been on here in about a week, so I totally forgot! Maybe next time!

My girlfriend and I and my friend and his wife ended up at Kings Island on Saturday night in a spur of the moment decision. We had met them earlier in the evening for dinner with plans to go to the driving range. That ended earlier than we thought. We were done around 9:30. We were standing in the parking lot for a bit trying to figure out what we could do next. Jokingly, my friend's wife said, "We could always drive out to Kings Island to watch the fireworks." Then that totally jogged my memory, Kings Island was open until midnight Saturday for the last time this summer. I informed everyone of that and we all agreed that we should go out to KI for a couple hours. We arrived around 10:30 and I noticed that it again looked pretty packed in the parking lot. I looked up at the sign and counted all the various groups that KI was "Welcoming" that night. 8 of them in total. I was there the week prior and there was only 4 groups and it was so packed you couldn't move. So I was thrilled when it was double that number this past Saturday. So we entered the park and we had an hour and a half left. We had only planned on riding a few things, so I figured we should be ok regardless of the crowds. First we headed towards "Boo Blasters". My friend and his wife like to have competitions whenever they go to see who can beat the other. This time around he got a faulty gun...needless to say, he lost to his wife. I however got a pretty decent gun and I won with a score of over 1,300. Not too bad considering there were no blasting sounds and you can't really see the lazer beam. From there we headed to Diamondback. It was over an hour wait, so we moved on. We headed to The Beast to catch a night ride. Again, over an hour wait. Next we walked past Backlot Stunt Coaster. Not as bad with a 45 minute wait, but with an hour left, we decided it wasn't worth the rest of our time. One of us suggested that we walk over to Coney Mall and check out some rides over there, so that's what we did. We walked over to The Racer and....jackpot! It was pretty much a walk on! We all got on the Blue Racer without waiting and in the very back (my favorite place to ride). It was a pretty good ride, not too rough, and a lot of fun! From there we walked around to the Adventure Express. Again we were lucky, it was a walk on! So we made our way again to the very back and enjoyed a very thrilling night ride. It seemed to be going faster than normal or something, but it made for a very fun experience! After that we walked over to the Viking Fury and caught another walk on. It seemed as if everyone was getting stuck over near River Town and it's surrounding areas Saturday night because once we got past a certain point, the rides seemed to be pretty much walk ons. The Viking Fury was fun as normal and by this time it was about 11:40. We figured we had time for one more ride. We decided to go into Action Zone and take a ride on Flight Deck since that line is never too long. We walked over to Flight Deck and took the journey down the long path down and around, then up to the ride. As we were walking to the ride, I was telling my friends my memories of opening weekend of "Top Gun". I remembered how the line was all the way out past the entrance. Every line was opened up and the line even went around into the queue part that's under the ride. They used to have artificial fog and everything in that section. I remembered waiting close to 3 hours to ride the first time! It was hard to believe that considering the fact that we were walking right up to the ride that night. Anyway, it was another walk on. We were walking up to the ride just as it was pulling into the station. So we headed towards the back and took our seats. That ride is always fun in the dark and it had been a while since I had ridden it anyway, so it was nice to enjoy it again. When we got off of Flight Deck it was about 11:55 so we decided to get something to drink and head towards the exit. We stopped at the snack stand there in Action Zone for a Diet Coke and a blue ice cream to finish off the night! For an hour and a half visit and the crowds the way they were, we didn't have too bad of a time and we actually got to ride some good rides. Boo Blasters, The Racer, Adventure Express, The Viking Fury, and Flight Deck. Not too bad for a spur of the moment decision late on a Saturday evening! It was an enjoyable and fun time with friends and I'm glad we decided to make the trip!
  20. Wow it's kind of crazy that it was that packed on a Monday. I haven't been on a Monday in years, but I remember that Monday's were always the best day to go! I was there on Saturday evening and could hardly move it was so packed! Waited 2 hours for The Beast! The crowds do seem a lot worse this year for some reason. Glad you had a good day and that you enjoyed the magic show. I haven't gotten to see it yet, but I plan to at least once before the end of the season!
  21. You can have the smurfs, I want Scooby-Doo. Well obviously Scooby-Doo would be my first choice! However, if I couldn't get him I'd take the Smurf bench lol. How cool would that be to put in your backyard? Well really any of those statues would be cool to put in your backyard!
  22. I'd love to have one of the big statues that were around in Hanna-Barbera Land and Nick Central. I'd love to have that huge Reptar from the Runaway Reptar Coaster or the giant Sponge Bob from the Bikini Bottom area. Also, I'd love to have any of the Hanna-Barbera statues like Scooby-Doo or even the bench with the Smurf statues on it. Remember that?
  23. I love this idea! I think the station would fit great there, but I agree with kjkjkj, the entrance and queue should be between the go-kart entrance and the ice cream stand. I think that would work the best.
  24. Oh lord! I think I'd rather wait on the foam then to have people sticking their fingers in my drink
  25. They're dumping out the foam, because it's faster than waiting for it to go down. This is especially true for Coke and root beer, which foam more. I used to work in fast food. I agree that Coke and Root Beer are the worst for foaming! I worked mainly through lunch rush and I didn't have time to wait on foam. So I figured out that if you tilt the cup and let the pop run down the side it doesn't foam as bad. I saved a ton of time during lunch rush once I figured this out. The customers were happier too lol. I still do this to this day any time I'm getting pop from a soda fountain. My girlfriend used to ask me why I tilted my cup and I showed her how it kept it from foaming. It's a pretty useful trick!
