I was thinking more along the lines of 170-175ft. Also Vortex was 3,800ft in length so they could possibly beat out Dominator for longest if they make the lift higher and have bigger elements.
-
Superman Krypton Coaster currently holds the record for the tallest and fastest floorless at 168ft and 70 mph with 6 inversions. I feel like KI could beat that record with ease.

Some considerations Dive- unlikely. Valravn was the chain's 1st Dive and Yukon Striker didn't come too far behind it. Adding another B&M dive coaster so close to the others would saturate the chain. Infinity coaster- maybe. I don't know if Gerstlauer can match the capacity of Vortex so that might be an issue. They did build Hangtime for CF and with the lightshow it gives off, I could see KI making theirs lightup like crazy at night. Mack Multi Launch- possible. On one hand having 2 launched coasters next to each other might be repetitive to some degree but on the other hand comparing Premier to Mack is like comparing apples to oranges. If we got something like Helix I would be beyond happy but Macks are expensive since the track is manufactured overseas so the bigger the coaster, the higher the pricetag. Wing- eh. Ive heard some people talk about a wing but i think it would be kinda strange since Thunderbird, Wild Eagle, X-Flight and GateKeeper are within a four/five hour radius of the park Trex- possible. Kings Island took a hit in the inversion department when they announced Vortex's removal. From what I hear Raptors are stupid smooth so having a multi inversion T-Rex would do the park some good. Plus I kinda want a 90° drop like Railblazer has. Floorless- don't count it out. I know this is everyone's least likely choice but its one of the safest choices for KI. Whether you love them or hate them, you can't deny B&Ms are stupid reliable. A ground up floorless hasn't been built in the US since 05 so it could be a possibility. Remember the gap in Inverts before Banshee came along. Plus Cedar Fair loves working with B&M and with their manufacturing plant literally in the next county, I wouldn't be shocked if they chose to work with them again. I know this isn't the most likely option but as this point we can only speculate.

What happens next for Vortex might be a testament to this thread

I voted for floorless because I want to gain back some inversions after losing Vortex and the max we would get out of a dive would be 4. I'd love to see B&M do some kind of a next gen floorless since Banshee was kind of a next gen Invert. Plus a ground up floorless coaster hasn't been built in the US since 2005. I would love a T-Rex but since that model hasn't come out yet, I'm skeptical that they'd want to introduce a custom prototype to a big park like KI without building one at a smaller tier park.

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season

Because the 6 boards that make up the trackbed are wood where as i-box is all metal. So technically speaking, the majority of the ride is wood. Mystic Timbers has some metal supports but its still a wooden coaster. https://twitter.com/aceonlineorg/status/1063234563948851200?s=20 -

One thing's for sure, 2019 is the most interesting season we've had in a long while -

I'm sure there's a strategy to what they're doing. @JubJester mentioned how FH and VX's removal announcements were exactly a year apart so that isn't a coincidence. Additionally I don't know of a functioning amusement park that has removed two coasters back to back. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but is the park telling guests to get their final rides on it? I remember they did for Firehawk but I don't remember seeing a statement by the park telling people when Vortex will have its last day. Its all kinda fishy -

Call me dumb but I would prefer not to have another wooden based coaster next to The Beast and Mystic Timbers -

In today's day and age, you have to watermark your work unfortunately.

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season

One leaps out to me. Vortex was such an iconic ride for KI for numerous reasons. It was the tallest coaster at the time I believe, and the 1st to invert 6 times. It got on Insane Coaster Wars back in 2012, and was a lot of people's 1st looping coaster. People, however, have been complaining about roughness but a lot of that ride is more nostalgic based and doesn't hold up in comparison to newer steel coasters. You could argue The Beast is the opposite because it still holds up record wise with its length, speed, and even drop. I think if Kings Island gets another looping coaster to replace Vortex, KI fans and the general public would be happy because in a way it shows Kings Island wants to improve on a product that a lot of people have loved. That being said, I think the park should go with a B&M which could be iconic in its own right. If they choose to get a B&M floorless coaster they could easily break a height record; remember Dive coasters aren't technically considered floorless coasters. Additionally with a taller height you can also take the speed record as well. Vortex was such an iconic ride that, in my opinion, getting a B&M floorless would be a fitting replacement. A ride doesn't have to be iconic in the sense that it draws people from around the country or even the world, it just needs to be good enough to be better than the ride it replaced and I think a B&M floorless would do that perfectly. -
KI will be down to 14 inversions after this season

There's dozens of Vortex threads right now so I'll keep it simple- what's replacing Vortex, (if anything)?

I think its funny how people don't understand basic structural engineering. If a multiton roller coaster sinks into the ground overtime, it wouldn't just vertically lower like an elevator. If this were true parts of the track would have bent off years ago and would have eventually buckeled and/or snapped. I personally know people who stand by the idea that it sinks and those people need to get their brain checked.

Corkscrew is also so small that it's probably not that big of an impact on the park like Vortex is to KI

Because Firehawk had something immediately replacing it the following year. -

Probably just gonna let it sink In all seriousness though, its in a good location of the park so I feel like removing it means that something else is to come. -

What if Orion was purposely a smaller giga? What if we see construction in 2020 for something to come in 2021? It just seems weird that they are choosing to remove it without putting much attention to it as for Firehawk. Granted they still had a funeral for it. Vortex, to me, is one of those rides that is so popular that it should be replaced. I don't know. I just think that this was always the endgame now that I think about it. Orion might have purposly been underhyped because there was something else coming down the line to follow it.
