How about this...they're going to announce the ride at some point this year, and then build it and have it ready next year. When the announcement is, noone knows, but there will be an announcement regarding the announcement... When that time comes, we will know everything, until then we know very little other than there's lots of concrete that's being poured, and that literally is it.

Could Vekoma Trains work on Vortex?
thedevariouseffect replied to homestar92's topic in Kings Island
Sorry but I don't buy much from this guy considering this is the same guy that during my early time with this forum shot me down about looking at the footers for clues in which manufacturer, which he basically shot down as a bunch of bs from me, explained my case, and shut it up. Now look several months later, everyone is looking at the footers and their similar correlation with other B&M footers that have been poured in the past...Call me out for stuff that is actually wrong, but these things can happen in this scenario...and has happened, and always will happen...saying arrow polyurethane or nylon wheels don't wear and become defective with flat spots is ridiculous, because again, it can, will and has happened... -
Again...sitting back waiting

Could Vekoma Trains work on Vortex?

Still puts me more in touch than an enthusiast. I've worked them, helped repair them, and been involved with an arrow looper more than practically everyone here... -

I've been in ride ops for more than corkscrew and involved in the rides alot more than you know of, and it's still another arrow product created just 11 years after corkscrew using the same manufacturer concepts and ideas, I would bet money even same maint. standards in regards to hours, off season NDT, ect. Same goes for other rides too. An S&S space shot at any park in the world will be the same maint. standards and operation as any other...they're the same thing just very minimal differences... Operating a ride and being in charge of it's every day operation and having a close relationship with maint. as you depend on them to make sure you can do your job safetly and keep people safe & also being an enthusiast, and for lack of better words, intrusive, you do get to be involved in it quite a bit. Hell I even got to help them replace a bad wheel one morning I got to the ride extra early to help knock out paperwork. -
I have heard that CSF is actually pretty nice about showing you portions of the floor that they are ok with people seeing, some things they do not want seen. I myself have never had an encounter with them but from other people I've worked with and spoken to they're used to our type wanting to show up and look around as long as it's pre-arranged

Could Vekoma Trains work on Vortex?

They can develop flat spots actually. This is why companies like B&M have the transfer table without rails to take the pressure off of the wheels and their assemblies and also allow for easier inspection. Also there are areas of the track that do recieve more stress than others. For instance on corkscrew if you did a track walk, at the end of the brake run where the train jerks left, the guide wheel hits pretty hard there and you can see where it's been patched before that was discovered during off season NDT. I may have pictures of this on my facebook. That area on the track actually recieves alot more stress than you think, as that support holding that area of track had a small crack in it that was also discovered during NDT & was replaced during my season. -

Honestly though there is only so much you can do to make an arrow smooth. It's a hand built human assembled ride with trains that have wheels that are not spring loaded in constant contact with the track and over time develop flat spots and rough areas on both the wheel and track. The only thing you could do is to pull off each rail and replace it, however again, this to me kills the arrow entirely. Honestly as long as they inspect the track, keep the trains running, keep everything from degrading, they're good to go and this stuff can practically last indefinately -
This thread needs to come back to reality and escape from this hysteria & whatnot I feel like Rose From Titanic... Come back, come back, come back lol

Only thing I don't like about this program, even if you hit return, it doesn't create the gaps for paragraphs, ah well

Could Vekoma Trains work on Vortex?

Vekoma trains can work, as they use the same rail width, spine structure, and placement of brake fins. However, me being all nostalgic, the current trains are running fine albeit with a few flat spots on the wheels that need replaced, however, they are structurally sound and in good working order. Please don't bring Vekoma into an old arrow. Leave the arrows alone!!! -
Honestly x2 isn't that bad with roughness...some things about it are meh, however that drop is pretty bomb, and that the track doesn't have to be inverted for you to invert. Neat idea, yeah it's rough and a bit flawed, but its a prototype arrow, I expected some fault. But again, it's an arrow so I'm partially biased as usual

Getting it up is the easy part Getting it back down seems to be difficult Insert pun here Ugh...this is what happens when you go with a company that's built a prototype of this caliber and has never built anything this dynamic before...epic fail Also edit: from the mondial site, I wonder about this lol The Mondial Quick Response Service is well known throughout the world. All Mondial machines are designed to limit the amount of down time to a minimum, but in the unlikely event of any problems, the Mondial Quick Response Service Team solves the problem in the shortest possible time. -
While were on the subject of decoding the various things around the construction site, this owl video came up

There's a free version that I'm using now

Dunno if I believe that one...the old parts yeah, they have everything in there including a ton of huss parts from crypt but not a basketball court and stuff

Wow just did too and I'm actually impressed...I'll stick to using this. So far it hasn't pushed notifications like I thought it would but I like the setup, minus the lack of a new content button, I had to "read" the whole forum just to get unread to display recent material. I usually had my new content to display all new within 24 hrs

So my phone does something pretty neat. the HTC one has this slideshow movie thing it makes for each photo album thing and just had it there and if you want it, it creates it. So I let it go its thing and this is what I got, actually impressed. http://db.tt/sNVVUVZz
