Cedar Point Planning Something Big?
thedevariouseffect replied to Coasterama's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
There was a recent FAA filing for an attraction...see Pointbuzz -
Worst smell..wet socks after riding on a summer day that bakes the stench off of them. I almost puked once because of it..

E stop means water goes away, means get the riders unloaded ASAP. Biggest thing is getting the huge rafts off of the turntable and into the storage area. Biggest thing is getting all those rafts over easily and getting them unloaded quickly means the rafts come close together still at speed by the turntable. The walls are like balloons, they can hit and bounce knocking into things with force one, or two flip over/get airborne. It's a possibility, the thought of it happening is very marginal, but the chance is still there, and that's what's scary about it.
-
Sigh...go do an e stop drill please..
-
Yes, but outside factors beyond that..Say power outage, weather emergency evac, someone falling in (can still be secured and everything and still happen) Variables will always be present, even if the crew is on it's A game, it's still alot more hectic to e-stop one of these than say a coaster. I e stop a coaster, everything hits the brakes once it reaches the end of a block or stops where it is, end of story. Having possible rafts collide, etc. with unloading people, it can be a scary situation. I push one button on a coaster, end of story, Flume ride, uh oh..I still remember the horn sounds

I don't think it will go anywhere. It fits for the exact reason you mentioned. Also IMO even though they are an expensive ride to upkeep (I always heard rumor that to run TC at CP cost the company thousands per hour to run) it moves a good bit of people, and if everything goes right there really isn't any downtime. It moves people effectively, and never really any complaints. The main complaint is the stupid "I got wet" or the annoying "I didn't get wet" complaints. Other than that, never really anything else mentioned

False...rafts can go airborne...can...scary **** can happen so during e stops everyone needs to be on their toes to get the rafts off of the turntable and into the storage. There's a reason during the season the crews do e stop drills

Just to share some stuff, somewhat related: Cleaning the pit, it's below the lift, it gets nasty, right near here is where the water is pumped in from the lake Empty troughs Still hate this ride, it can be potentially scary/deadly during an E stop, glad I never had any experiences with that

Everytime I see Vertigo I think of Alfred Hitchcock

Lindz worked over there..I actually asked her the same thing when I went to go see her there, she honestly was drowning out out paying attention to the ride Good ride ops

Hopefully they show how the chain is being installed. I've always been curious to see it done. This could be an awesome video
-
Calm down Mr Grumpy Gills... There was a reason for his comment, you just don't see it
-
Lift motor and transmission are installed already. Not sure about chain itself yet though
-
Make sure it's a good cough, or recheck for a second opinion :-)

Wow all gluten free stuff st the park..I'm impressed. Good on them... Yes some beers are naturally gluten free. If it's not a wheat or barley derived beer..those that aren't made with it are naturally gluten free. The Yuengling they serve in the park is not gluten free however. By the way KI...you carry the Original Lager..why not the Black and Tan..good stuff

Yay we can finally ride together somewhere at some point Maverick you'll sadly ride alone
-
I hope you ride Maggie in the ideal seat though *crosses fingers*
-
You and that front row, I just can't understand it. I tried it first and second time up front. Tried last row because I didn't want to wait, will ride it there everytime now
-
*grumble grumble* I will say on point Maverick is the best Intamin attraction they have.. Best attraction is still good old Maggie..I could stay on the train all day and not get bored, especially if it's a full moon cloudless night sans trims. Best moments on that ride I've ever had
