I concur with all of that. I think if this had been planned in advance, we would've seen at least part of that path closed during WinterFest so they could've started demo. Would be interesting to know if this was a capitol expense project that was late getting approval, or if it was a corporately driven project

Amen! I’m all for local and even national brands being featured sponsors but I think with all the work the park is going to improve overall “immersive experience “ they really need to look at how these brands can enhance, not fight that. I’m not saying no skyline anywhere, but put it where it makes sense-in Coney… where you get… you know… coneys. Not front and center (left) when you enter the park. Same with LaRosas. Sell it, but make it part of an overall Italian concept, not randomly stuck in the “river frontier” I feel like the park has let the brands call the shots for a long time, probably relying on them to foot the bill for things like build out and signage.
-
Grain and Grille looks like a solid add if they could move Skyline over to CFA (and don’t get me started on how much better their IStreet looks. KI blew it when they redid ours essentially for a parade route that is weird anyway with two show stops in the same area on opposite sides of the fountain. If they could relocate the clutter that is the fastlane Picture kiosk, they could add additional seating on that corner and even add a small outdoor bar
-
That would be great - maybe do healthy fresh Deli sandwiches at a new place on Street or in River Town in the LaRosas there. Why do we have limp pizza in 3 locations (4 if you count Soak City)?
-
I would LOVE if that was in the Italian building - even if they shared the space and one side was pizza only and the other side other options. May have to do a bit of register re-routing, but it could be done by flipping the entry and exit doors and moving the drink machines to the center point where they would merge and go to 2-3 registers at the 'front door'. That way you could also have a "quick entry" line for doing refills. Personally I wish ALL branded food was simply "featuring..." As in Luigi's Italian Kitchen FEATURING LaRosas Pizza or Coney Chili and Dogs FEATURING Skyline - then you could have more elevated options and some basic, local and kid pleasing pedestrian "safe" options, but the whole place wouldn't BE a LaRosas... Graeters Etc. Take a page from the Disney book and create your own themed spaces that trim the corporate franchise build out. They only get name recognition and the food served, but not the full signage package.

unless it is a base for tile or paving stone... but either of those I'd assume they would do with stamped concrete for better durability... time will tell
-
If they actually DO something with the concrete (stain, color, texture etc) I prefer that over pavers, but if its just smooth concrete thats not really playing into the theme. I'm actually intrigues by the raised concrete structure - FOUNTAIN?? or at least planter to bring more color to the area

I’d be down with that as well-especially if they made that area a little “greek mini land” with a fountain and statues in a garden dining setting. Maybe even add gyros and 1-2 other Greek quick serve options to the skyline menu, some “history of Skyline” signs and a better tie to its Greek international origins. Maybe don’t even do dogs here and keep the one in coney more “pure skyline coney dog” so it doesn’t just feel like 2 Skyline locations) Where Skyline is now is way too nice a location on IS with indoor seating and a prime location for something that you can literally get across the street for less. Would like to see sone kind of “upscale” quick service there with more of even a “international” feel and a way nicer dining room. Even if they could relocate the Fast Lane stand and the stuff yo the left of it and do a nice covered seating area.
-
Hope so. Would love to see original, park specific food options, and ones that continue to elevate the game-even making sone of the special items that get “tested” during festivals more permanent options.

I think the only way that works is if the re-route the queue to the Adventure Port side. I’d rather make it part of the German mini land that is what’s left over of Oktoberfest. Put a bar back along the back wall (where a bar actually is) and bring at least a few German offerings to FestHaus. Add paint details back to Viking Fury and add striped canopies in the colors of the German flag. It’s such a tiny area now that they could bring a real Germanic feel with minimal investment. Even if Delerium (renamed) moved into this area with a slightly re-routed queue it would balance things better. Then you’d have a central/South American mini land, a German mini land both coming off of International Street. Then on the other side create an Italian mini land coming off of Graeters/LaRossas with a new dark ride in BOOBlasters that could be an Italian Phantom Theatre. Let IS be the corridor that a few international themed mini lands connect to.
-
Now if they would just do something with that horrible queue structure-either replace with a wood slatted pergola style, or build a facade of a building around it that is tall enough to hide the carnival tent shade structure I’d be happy.
-
It’s frustrating as you see what they are capable of when given time and budget. That’s why the hosing down of brown that VikingFury got a few years ago seems even more odd.
-
maybe - no official confirmation. Thats just an image with the type of acts they are casting for being performed. Could be a totally different concept. They also used an image from the 70's Fetshaus Show for vocalists and Im not taking that as confirmation that show is returning. I for one hope it DOESN'T return. Keep the "lightning in a bottle" effect.

And yet the Christmas tree still stands LOL Everytime I see a full shot of coney I question why WindSeeker wasn’t placed between the two racers and that entire area given a “plaza” makeover with the actio theater maybe being retrofitted with a hang-glider type simulator to give the mini area an aviation theme. It’s such a shame that beautiful “between the tracks” spot is so inaccessible now. You also realize how essentially “easy” it would be to relocate the “shed city” behind The Racer and incorporate that area into coney as well (what is the round, tank like building?) All of those buildings could’ve easily been pushed to the other side of Orion. Even given a light “theming” for what you would see over the fence to keep the whole military base idea going. Then that could flow around The Racer to the aviation themed area around WindSeeker to create a whole Lunken Airfield/area 72 flight/space exploration theme.

Wow. I hope that article isn’t WAAAAAAY overselling a repainted biergarden, an out of place burrito stand that finally fits, and a sprucing up of an aging coaster. Seems like a lot of buildup for an area getting a fairly quick theme enhancement. Hope I’m super surprised, but I’m keeping my expectations in check.

Can you point out what you are seeing in this picture?
-
Agree to disagree on both points. What CF is doing with all these projects you mentioned plus Adventure Port and Boardwalk is more architectural “themed structures” where are easier to maintain than theatrical effects needed to make a mad house interesting enough to “draw guests from around the world”. Got it-you want one-I’d like to experience one once, but just don’t see it being a solid investment for the park. I think it’s telling that there aren’t to a of them around outside of Europe.
-
But why? If anything that side needs lusher landscape to make it less confusing. You want “the land formerly know as Oktoberfest” to have NOTHING to show for itself any more? Lol
-
I don’t think it will ever happen. These depend on theming and story elements to sell the illusion, and 2 points to that 1) even though it’s way better than before, Kings Island has limited success in keeping theming functioning at 100% (see spotty MysticTimbers swinging lamps, flickering lights, Banshee flickering lights, Banshee lighting package, etc) and 2) these are so story driven that once you have experienced the story a few times, there is limited “re-ridability” which is critical at a regional park KI.
-
That wouldn’t make sense as it isn’t in the same area. That “zone” seems to be staying a “German neighborhood” of IS with the pretzel building (can we PLEASE for the love of God get rid of Auntie Ann’s and instead do real, artisan pretzels with creative toppings and flavors) and Festhaus, the completely un-German, German food and festival haus.
-
I like that this seems to clean up the mess that the biergarden patio had become where pergolas had been cut down, light poles added, railing tacked on where bridges used to be etc. speaking of bridges-wish that one came back to connect the food/bev location more directly to the other food location (festhaus). Now they just need to bring back the banners/streamers to the “German area extension of international street formerly known as Oktoberfest” to balance the colors. One side of the pond is looking bold and bright-the other is gonna seem a bit brown and dowdy by comparison. Even if they “absorbed” Delirium (renamed) into Oktoberfest as an additional ride for that area. It seems more like part of that area anyway with a minor re-route of the queue line.
-
Sorry, I think that’s a poor justification for cheaping out on a refurbishment. I agree with what another poster said that I honestly don’t think Adventure Port was on the radar when the boat was painted. I feel like that was a bit of a “oh crap we need an attendance driver that is more permanent than ‘festival or entertainment’ but doesn’t eat into our long term cap ex for Vortex and other long term projects”.
