  1. I-like others have said-would prefer no chains in the park. I prefer a “unique” experience and the culinary team has shown they can step it up. I’d prefer maybe a few “featuring…” type restaurants where the local company pays to sponsor and gets limited branding, but there are more food options than just a LaRosas in a theme park. Like IS pizza featuring mainly artisan flatbreads and more unique ingredient pizzas- and LaRosas cheese and pepperoni more as an “add on” than the sole feature. The signage and interior would NOT be LaRosas (or Graeters etc) but unique name and look with “featuring LaRosas Pizza” on the sign. I hate that we have literally an unimpressive Graeters and Skyline plopped down on IS just like you would see outside the park.
  2. That’s what I’d LOVE. A new Phantom Theatre, the long forgotten crown jewel of the Coney midway is rediscovered in all its decaying glory. Use the Midway mania style ride base with a heavily themed queue and transitions between “acts” of the show with physical props and prop/set animation, then use 3d screen (with “opera glasses”) for the headliners interactive games. Throw roses to Hilda to score points, throw dynamite sticks at Garbonzo to score, etc. I don’t LOVE the shooting aspect, but I think it would be an easier sell than a full passive dark ride. Then boo blasters could become peanuts or MarDGra’s international scavenger hunt using the characters and locations from Carnivale the following year.
  3. The location is the only drawback. It’s just a shame that that end has been so poorly planned and developed over the years. Really wish WindSeeker had gone there in the turn around and they had opened up that whole end years ago. Even doing the restaurant straight at the end. It’s just a wasted cluster of stuff back there.
  4. The Racer turn around would be a great place for new indoor/outdoor dining. Big windows looking out onto the track split. Already has utilities roughed in from Action Theatre days. If they aren’t going to put a fabulous new Phantom Theatre there, then I’d love to see a great new slightly upscale food option there. Even a buffet option. Call it COASTER VIEW or something similar. Maybe take the same idea that they’ve done for the 50th of nostalgia themed dishes.
  5. It’s not in Planet Snoopy. It’s technically in International Street. Look at the pavement. Plus it was in “Hanna Barberra” land and Nickelodeon land before.
  6. That’s one of the reasons I wish they would reconfigure the entrance set up and make Soak City an upcharge second gate. They could use the increased revenue to really invest in the park and make it a quality destination, and control capacity better. They could still offer a substantial discount of passholders want to add it on, but I think the free days should be done.
  7. Love WWC at night. This darn quality closing show keeps my attention every night I’m there till close though. Now that I’ve seen it in ALL its laser, drone, correct firework shell glory, I can switch to mystic and WWC night rides.
  8. Love that you and I have ID’d the same spot. That end of the midway is in desperate need of a makeover!
  9. And that relates to The Bat how???
  10. Show seemed 100 % spot on last night. First time I’ve seen the new lasers and the drones really well. I feel like we officially hit sensory overload lol.
  11. Left and right front exit doors. There’s a “BOILER ROOM” sign pointing that way each side. They are “lighting the way” now to draw attention to it now. I LOVE that it is such an inside thing. You totally would have to know the ride for it to make sense as it’s not even referenced in the show.
  12. Looks to me like the underside of a round platform they attached a cheap round outdoor rug on upside to make sliding it easier.
  13. Raw green onions sprinkled on wings aren’t really just “greenery” like a sprig of parsley. It’s more of a topping or ingredient I was impressed they kept the micro greens thing going all through Carnivale last year.
  14. I’d say they are at least tied with Knotts, but that park is in a totally different world.
  15. Not saying the artful “wing off the plate” but yea, it should come on the gold plate. They had those early in the season at sweet spot. Maybe they are out, but that’s the kind of thing that costs just a little more, but does elevate the experience. So yes, keep the sauce in a condiment bottle, squirt it on the gold paper plate, put the wings on there and toss some darn onions on it. If they are going to do this stuff, they need to commit to it.
  16. I wondered about the snow as well. I told my kids about it and then opening night said “look at the drones! They made snow LOL” Any mention of it has been dropped. I think there may have been other things (pyro off the tower) that were concepted but didn’t actually make the cut. Sorry-I wasn’t inferring fro your comments that these lasers were a late add, but as you said-impressed that they bothered with them “after the fact” since it still required additional payroll hours to instal them. I’ve worked places that years after the fact you find things on a shelf that had a purpose, but they came after the fact and just never were installed or even opened-just money wasted. That’s also why I wonder if this infrastructure has a “second life” intended (much like the initial Winterfest lighting upgrades have shows their usefulness outside of that initial expense outlay.
  17. Hmmm interesting and and odd use seeing as they were already doing a lot of this (in a cheaper way) with light projection. Wonder why they felt the lasers were a necessary add. Thought these would be used more as an actual effect on/in the water. Need to see in person. Like you said also cool that they keep adding things. Like these are a more “permanent “ and reliable way of doing some of what the drones are doing. It will be interesting to see if the use of all this equipment continues on into haunt-Winterfest with sone type of nightly show for those events.
  18. I think they mean “A Wonderful World of Fun” the original song for the show.
  19. Ok-something is definitely up. They wouldn’t go to all the trouble of hosting a Q&A with Rick Bastrup after the 5 pm show on Weds just to promote a stage show. Something is brewing. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/blog/2022/july/kings-island-to-host-qa-session-july-13-with-phantom-theater-designer-rick-bastrup?fbclid=IwAR0M-1J-gLTXU8NQtUFSHT3Ovfq2ULy1R_SdaGRt3BJ0zHiynWncJ8fvR3g&fs=e&s=cl
  20. Looks like the 6 “mystery lasers” are still a mystery. Not in use still. Wonder what the point of these is. They are pretty large and clearly gave done as of yet purpose in the show.
  21. Which you’ll note I addressed in my original post. Doesn’t really matter as neither of us are in the entertainment scheduling dept. and have direct impact on already made decisions, but its fun to throw out ideas. I’m sure those in official capacities know what works best.
  22. I’m jealous. I’ve only caught it once. I’ve got to get back up there soon. It’s a winner!
  23. See-that’s why I really wondered about those showtimes. Wish they ran a similar schedule to CLUB KI-the crossover cast could do the parade at 6 -like CLUB does, then run shows at 7,8,9 and club at 7:39,8:30 and 9:30. If they want to do 4, maybe they could’ve done one at 4:30 or 5 and still had time to get cast to parade step off. I wondered about running such a physical show in the hottest part of the day. Could’ve done some awesome lighting that way as well and created a TON of energy around the tower area in the evenings. Oh well!
