Would one work behind Banshee? The old Son of Beast station is blocked by Banshee, and building around it might ruin its theming and ride experience.

If Cedar Fair ever does business with Rocky Mountain Construction, I hope Kings Island receives an Outlaw Run style coaster, not an Iron Horse conversion of any of our current woodies.

Plus it looked like the building is still on the map for the 2015 season.

I always had the idea that paint would keep a roller coaster smooth for a little while longer, especially wooden coasters. Steel coasters always need that new layer of protection against corrosion. On wooden coasters, the wooden track expands and contracts at different rates, which is one of the leading causes of roughness. A layer of paint would prevent it from getting rough as quickly as it does because the sun gives off the light, which turns to heat, expanding the wood, and the paint reflects the light and heat back. Although there may be reasons, as Terp mentioned, why some coasters do not get repainted.

Sorry for the double post, but this is very nice. I especially love the idea of incorporating the picnic grove as an area of the park that features rides.

It would be interesting to see the International Street shops get some names that match their architecture, and flags from the appropriate countries for each building. For example, divide the Emporium into a few different stores instead of one big one and name one store something like Munchen Gifts, or Rhineland Souvenirs, to match the German architecture of the building. Maybe rename the Glassblower shop to CristalerÃa Glass Art, as it was called in the seventies. The word cristalerÃa is Spanish for glassware, and would blend well with the Spanish/Latin American architecture. I believe they had a decorative carved candle shop in the Spanish building, where someone dips a candle into colored wax and carves it into different patterns and designs. It would be interesting to see something on those lines return, however it's unlikely. In Rivertown, an area themed to the "river town" of Cincinnati in the 1800's era, could get a shop named something on the lines of old Cincinnati. Coney Mall could use some classic midway flats, and maybe some popcycle shaped trees and shrubs, to pay homage to the Ginkgo Trees that were at Coney Island. Those are a few ways the park can improve their theming without going all out like Disney.

Well, they already removed the German Sausage Platter & Sauerkraut from the Dining Plan options; completely ridding the Festhaus of anything German-themed. Did they remove it from Christian Moerlein Bier Garten? If so, that saddens me. I try to eat there almost everytime I visit the park.

As much as I would love for it to happen, I do not see them bringing Der Spinnen Keggers back, as the ride, model name "Drunken Barrels," was manufactured, and still is being manufactured to this day, by Intamin AG. And as we know, Cedar Fair has dropped Intamin for the time being. It would, however, be interesting to see them put a Tilt-a-Whirl in with maybe a barrel theme to it.

Maybe they are going to build a building for a German themed Triotech dark ride. Blondy, just dreamin.'

I still have a photo somewhere of me as a youngster posing in front of the "Raiders of the Lost Ark" poster in the Tower Gardens (then Paramount Story) section. It is kind of sad to see that area be destroyed, but it's probably for the best. It makes me wonder now what's happening to the marble pathway stones with the movie titles on them, as they were flipped over. To speculate what's going there, it would be cool to see them add a Chinese Pagoda like structure to move Panda Express into, as part of an expansion to International Street, which could re-internationalize it somewhat. However, it does look like a nice plot of land, as someone mentioned above, for new Antique Cars. Maybe revive the Les Taxis name, which I believe is French, to coincide with the Eiffel Tower overlooking it.

I would find the addition of a Chance Wipeout in Coney Mall to fit the Coney Island theme very nicely. However I do not believe that Cedar Fair works with Chance Manufacturing.

I wonder what the new "observation area" should be like.

Thunderbird has launched!

If Kings Island gets a launched B&M Wing Coaster in the future, it should be a combo ride. Start the ride up with a climb up the lift hill and introduce a launch later in the ride cycle, only because it would be a much more unique and different Wing Coaster ride, rather than choosing one version or the other, and out of the two B&M coasters currently at Kings Island, neither have the iconic B&M pre drop effect, found on Cedar Point's Gatekeeper, Raptor, Mantis (now Rougarou), and Kings Dominion's (formerly Geauga Lake's) Dominator. -

Wouldn't Son of Beast have been a dangerous cadidate for an Iron Horse conversion because it was sitting abandoned for years? And don't wooden coasters from RCCA have flimsy structures, I thought I heard that somewhere.
-
I don't think there is a reason for Kings Island to Iron Horse any of its wooden coasters. The Racer is the coaster that essentially brought back the coaster. It's an icon in Coney Mall and is a salute to Coney Island's old iconic Shooting Star, even using the original Shooting Star trains. It's a bumpy ride, however the park does have teams of carpenters, possibly from Great Coasters International (I may be wrong), come out and replace sections of track every so often. The Beast is the longest wooden coaster in the world, and uniquely placed in the parks back terrain instead of along the midway. There isn't a real need for giving either woodie a Rocky Mountain conversion, as they are both ACE landmarks.

It rained all day on April 29, 1972. An Enquirer photo from that day can be seen at this link. The photo shows crowds on I-Street scattering, trying to find shelter from the falling rain. http://retro.cincinnati.com/Topics/Gallery/Kings-Island-Construction#Bashing The Bubbly

I would invest my money in making it an Alpine lodge resort again. A lot of wall replacement and major fumigation would be needed for the restoration project.

Was it GCI who has been coming out and retracking The Racer? I know the coaster has been retracked a few times, but is there another method they need to take to make the ride more comfortable for some? Edit: didn't want to unintentionally sound rude from my first post.

Maybe it's just me, but that seems like not much change for the $$$ it would cost... I think it'd need a little more to it than that to justify the cost. Truthfully, I could see The Beast getting Rocky Mountain'ed before Racer, and personally I would be more curious to see it on The Beast. Blasphemy, I know, but I think it would be far more interesting and unique IMO. But I'm not sure either has a high probability of happening. My guess for why someone made an RMC conversion of The Racer instead of The Beast is probably because of the hype from Twisted Colossus, the conversion of Colossus at Magic Mountain. Another possibility is that many younger people might not realize how legendary The Racer actually is compared to The Beast. If it weren't for The Racer, the coaster that brought back the coaster, there would be no Beast, which is a wooden coaster built within the terrain instead of having airtime hills. However, like you said, it would be interesting to see someone convert The Beast on NoLimits. In reality, both should be kept the same, in my honest opinion.
-
Yes, they are the same. I was just pointing out the major risk it is, at both parks, to use textured lighting in the fountain show, I probably worded it wrong. One person may not be affected by it, however another might.
-
If the park does do a fountain show in the Royal Fountain, it might go in the order of 10 PM Fireworks first, then fountain show, only because it would not be dark enough before 10 to do it the other way around. Looking at the Canada's Wonderland show, the tectured lighting would probably be a poor choice to use, if a show ever is done at Kings Island, because of the dangers of epileptic seziures caused by flashing bright lights.

To answer KIfan73's response of a reimagined version of The Racer, someone made one on YouTube on NoLimits (I do not own this video, it belongs to someone else):

The Racer is incredibly iconic in the amusement industry and an ACE landmark. I don't believe the coaster will be removed or altered.
