  1. I think you are looking at two footings for Diamondback. My guess is that this is from the line for WWC. I think the camera is pointed towards the old TR:TR building. You can clearly see the train tracks and I think I see a gravel maintenance road. Transfer track is often near the brake run and I suspect it is in this case as well. It would put it near the maintenance road as well which is required to get the trains on and off the track. EDIT: I took way too long to figure it out and type this...
  2. Take another look at the Banshee blueprints. Station is marked with ST, Maintenance is marked M, and transfer track has a T. It would be very odd to mark a tunnel with a C if the C is for Column.
  3. I think we just found the return path. Lift hill and drop running parallel to the train shed. Then turn left towards Diamondback's hammerhead. Return back to the area with the station by going under the train bridge and popping up over the line for WWC, which is the reason for the tunnel.
  4. Same with Canada's Wonderland there is no confirmation, but there is a pretty good idea of what they are getting. Most people seem to agree it will be a water park expansion. The assumption is that it will be the same drop slide set which King's Island just received.
  5. The green track is most likely not for a Cedar Fair park. Recently all the B&M coaster track has been getting painted in two colors.
  6. If you want to save some money consider the hotels at Disney Springs, formerly Downtown Disney. They are off site but they work together with a shared bus system. They typically have a bus every 30 minutes which is similar to the on-site hotels. You do not get any of the benefits of staying on-site but the savings can make up for what you lose. For crowds if you are not staying on-site avoid parks with extra magic hours. Typically crowd calendars are pretty accurate.
  7. I would talk to a doctor but my guess is you need an ENT specialist. Many people with motion sickness have an issue with the inner ear. You could try an audiologist and have them check for BPPV. It is possible something as simple as the Epley maneuver might clear it up. Did you have a large impact of some kind before the issue started?
  8. No need to apologize. I am totally fine with being corrected like that. I would prefer the correct information be out there then someone taking what I say as 100% correct. I was more amazed at how many websites get it wrong but like you pointed out they are extremely rare.
  9. Very possible that is not something I know a lot about. I will say they are not identified correctly on most sites then. RCDB lists them as PTC as well for instance.
  10. Pretty sure they have two sets of trains. The PTC trains have 3 benches but my understanding is they are running 2 bench trains from NAD for the last few years. There was a Vettel train--it has fixed lapbars and a wood frame. Neither the state nor the insurance company will permit its use. There were two NAD Century Flyer trains. Four cars, three bench. NAD Century Flyers were three bench cars. One of the two was the train lost in the fire. I know not of any PTC trains at Conneaut Lake Park. I guess the two bench trains are PTC actually. If you take a look at picture number six it shows a 2 bench train which is identified as a PTC. It is possible the park no longer has this train, I personally have no idea.

  12. The rumor I have heard about Cedar Point is that Wildwater Kingdom will be closing at the end of the season, the slides will be moved to the Point as part of an expansion of Soak City.
  13. I am surprised no one has tried going to the city of Mason and pulling the building permits.
  14. No matter what the article says, it is pretty well known how and why James Hackemer died at Darien Lake. He is a double amputee and Ride of Steel has a lap bar. The sign in front of the ride says it requires 2 legs and he was missing both. There was no possible way for him to stay in the seat throughout the ride. The ride operators are supposed to prevent something like this. He should never have been allowed onto the ride. Even when federal agencies monitored injuries at Amusement parks the numbers were very low. For the average person it is much more dangerous to drive to the park then to go ride every attraction at the park.
  15. It is easy to second guess decisions. I have a hard time defending the mother but I feel reluctant to attack her too much. But the zoo and the response team had to make a decision, they do not have the luxury of time, and have no second chance if something goes wrong. It is easy to sit in front of a keyboard and say the zoo should have done something differently. The zoo did what they thought was best at the time. I watched the video and wonder what else happened but I have seen pictures with the child out of the water up on the grass above. From my perspective the zoo did the right thing.
  16. The slide had the watch for falling trees image in the spot for 2017. If I remember correctly the slides also only major expansions. Building the water park, and roller coasters were most of the items listed.
  17. I wanted to go to CLP today mostly to ride the blue streak while the park is still open. Luckily found out it was not running and just went to Waldameer instead. Had a great time riding the Ravine Flyer II got in at least 10 rides. I still want to visit CLP at least once but not sure how much longer it can keep running.
  18. Personally I still feel the colors of the cups mean nothing. The entire chain is using the same colors.
  19. The rumor going around Coasterstock was green and orange for the ride colors. Not sure I put much faith in it. Is it normal to not see a single sticker? I am so used to seeing pictures of the tags on the end.
  20. I was hopeful when I saw the pictures of the mesh. Going to take a few years to cover the tunnel but will be worth it in the end.
  21. I knew about the greenhouses. No idea that they were the first thing that was built. Also do not think I have ever seen the inside of them before. I do enjoy looking at the work they do around the park. I wish the park would do more with the gardens next to the Eiffel Tower, add more topiaries, flowers, and a few additional park benches. Plus only make a small corner for smokers. It would be a fantastic place to get away from the bustle of the rest of the park. It could be so much more. I will add many park guests have seen the greenhouses from inside the park. They are easily visible from the Eiffel Tower. Also you are looking straight at them when you get to the top of the lift hill on The Bat.
  22. If the stakes in the woods mark the lift hill, and the stakes near the train shed mark the first drop, as some speculate. Then the lift hill is over the edge of the turntable, and the first big turn. I think the park would have to build a cover over both to protect from falling objects. They could build a tunnel which would hide the loss of the trees and I think would be an interesting addition to the ride. The problem I have with this speculation is I still have no idea how the train is getting back to the station. There is not a second set of stakes which lead to or from the woods, just the set next to the train shed. But it is still early so who knows.
  23. I remember at one point in time there was a company which was hiring people to stand outside the parks and count the number of guests entering through the gates. They did this several days through the year and then used those number to estimate the rest of the year. Which I think is the Amusement Business magazine which Interpreter mentioned? Having said that we have no way to validate these numbers or even guess at how accurate they are. According to the website "AECOM obtains the figures used to create the TEA/AECOM Theme Index through a variety of sources, including statistics furnished directly by the operators, historical numbers, financial reports, the investment banking community and local tourism organizations, among others." It is possible the numbers are accurate, it is also possible the numbers are complete junk. Personally I view revenue, expenses, and profits as more important, and some of that information is released to investors. But none of these numbers sound like they are outside of the realm of what is possible. For example I know that attendance at the parks in Orlando is up over the last few years just from my trips to the parks. The off season is disappearing and they are becoming crowded year round.
  24. I totally support this. Move the freestyle machines from the restaurants to refill locations and put in traditional more limited machines in their place. I wish the refill location in the Kid's area had installed Freestyle machines. It would not be so bad if the location in the train station was ever open. So far I have only used it once all season. There are four freestyle machines in restaurants, two in hanks, and two in jukebox which would be perfect for another refill location or to upgrade one of the existing locations.
  25. The park can start refusing refills without food purchases at the restaurants which have the machine behind the counter. The problem will still exist at locations like the chicken shack and hanks which have the machine out and accessible by guests. As soon as the park added the stand alone refill locations I have been using them exclusively. But then I also will walk across the entire park just to go use a freestyle machine.
