I haven't worked there in 15 years, but I hated it personally. What I wanted to do was pick up trash, I don't want to deal with customers but I have no problem helping people that are lost, I felt that was the best place for me. Lots of walking, I don't have to deal with too many people, and those that I do have to deal with are usually easy to help. I was told almost verbatim "we outsource that job to another group", so unfortunately my goal and dreams evaporated. Instead I was put at the candy store, the last place I wanted to be. I lasted maybe 2 days and quit. Memorize all the codes for candy, walk around asking people if they need help, tons of screaming crying yelling children, parents that are angry the antiquated system doesn't go faster, non-stop people, ugh. I was paid minimum wage, which I think at the time was a whopping 5.25 an hour.

Cedar Point (+ Other CF Parks) May Change All Season Drink Program
Stoan replied to Tr0y's topic in Kings Island
Offer both. I like my cup, I keep them as souvenirs. Can you imagine the amount of waste this would create? One cup I wash every day and refill 5-6 times (I drink a lot as a diabetic), vs a probably smaller paper cup I'd toss and get a new one 10 times? I'd have to refill more often, which means more wasted cups, more time in line simply waiting on a drink, less times on rides. I'd prefer them to offer both, order the deal and get it on the plan, then if you desire go to a vendor and exchange my pass deal for my big ole' cup deal. -
I'd be so happy to go back to Phantom Theater. The blaster bit is fun, but I'd rather have better animations and less distractions. I spend more time trying to shoot the target with a gun that hasn't been sighted in 15 years than looking around. I loved trying to see what details I never noticed on the old ride. Even if it isn't a full revert, but going back to something spooky instead of black light distractions.

That turn and hill look impressive!

You may have issues with The Beast, but that is a combination of weight and height. I am 220 and 6'2" and I have difficulty at times with The Beast. Maybe not so much with getting into the seat, but being comfortable while in it I am smooshed. The Bat shouldn't be a problem, it comes overhead and may just sit up a bunch, but the width of the seat is generous and the lack of actual lap bar should remove some problem, especially if you carry in the stomach like you said, upper chest and shoulder width would be the problem there. I am not sure on The Racer or Adventure Express, I have never felt like I would have a problem there or every seen anyone bigger than me have issues.

I would probably stop renewing my pass if this single thing ever happened. If I had to pick a single ride that I would dislike having gone, it would be The Beast. I don't think I'd cancel my pass altogether, but it would be sorely missed.

I cannot find details for the free friend bit, but is that allowable on any public open day remaining, or does it need to be a Sunday like the fast pass thing? I have a few friends that might like to go, but I cannot plan when to take them!

Heh, if CP is paying that amount, I got more than a good deal with my meal plan. Averaging 7 bucks a meal, I have probably eaten 20-30 times there across the season. On topic however, I am very much looking forward to Tom and Chee, sure if may not be THE BEST DEAL EVER for food, but by gum it isn't the same 3-4 meal that are offered across the rest of the park. I like chicken, but I can only eat Chicken Tenders and something made from potatoes so many times. I'd really like to see some more localized spots opening up. People come to Cincinnati from some distance, usually for the sole purpose of going to Kings Island. I'd really like it to be used sort of like a gateway of the city. We already have Morlein beer, Skyline Chili, Larosas Pizza, Graeters Ice Cream. Tom and Chee is good offering from another local company.

I actually really enjoyed it. I got there around 5, just before it closed up at 6. My daughter is only 2 years old, so she didn't quite know much other than "people put toys and candy in my bag". She seemed to really like the mazes however, and seeing the characters. I think there was a good amount of activities for the kids to do, the trick or treating was nice even if it was small things. I saw a lot of kids with costumes, so I guess the parade was fun. I look forward to going again a bit earlier and playing some of the games, which all look to be around a dollar each, which is cool.

I'm a big fan of Tom and Chee, my daughter is a big fan too. I'll be quite pleased if they are added to the park and meal plan next year.
-
I kind of figured that was the whole point of dollar days anyways. "Quick burn out all the crap we have left!" It would be nice if they at least buy enough hopefully for the day, instead of potentially just running out for the entire rest of the season.

Well I failed terribly at sampling everything this year, I never even set foot into Soak City. Next year however my wife and I will have two meal plans, instead of just splitting the one, so better luck next year! That being said, it does appear that "The Snake Pit" is dead and gone, it has been replaced with "Kings Island Hot Dogs" (or sausages, one of the two.). Your plan is either "A footlong" or "Italian Sausage" I didn't get a chance to try either when I asked the other day, but I will attempt to try both this weekend and I'll report back.

I might have to try this, I usually just get a double of Crazy Hot and Spicy Garlic then mix the two together.
-
I remember seeing them, but that was a few years ago. I am 95% sure they don't sell them in the park anymore. If I remember right they were sold from carts.

Sorry I have fallen off the wagon. Newborn lack of sleep has gotten to me. I hope to pick up my task again soon.

Leaked photos for 2017?

I think the only thing that would keep me from buying the Meal Plan at this point is if they keep increasing the cooldown timer. I like being able to buy a meal right after work, then come back later and get a 2nd before the park closes. Granted it helps living less than 10 minutes away. I have no problem going to KI just to get a meal than leave.

Two things for this update. Rant and update. Rant - The park closes at 8pm on Sunday, why the heck are restaurants closed at 7:15. I walked into Panda Express at 7:15 tonight and was turned away with 5 other people because they were closing. There is food on the line, plenty of food, I can see it 4 paces away. Just give me that food you have. It doesn't take that much time to break down a fast food joint. I have worked at a sit down restaurant before, even there the kitchen only closes half an hour before the location is closed, and they make the food fresh. We all know and accept we aren't getting made to order food at an amusement park, the food is cooked, it is under a heat lamp, serve me the old food you have, I don't care. If you are worried that I won't be happy with that, then notify me "We made the food a bit ago, the kitchen isn't cooking anything fresh, here is what we have if you still want it". This ****es me off to no end, the park is closed at 8, close the park at 8. Update - CPFoodBlog asked me to add some links to their site, so I will be doing that in a bit. Coney Mall Potato Works Tender Meal got eaten today, as lack luster as I remember last year, even if the tenders I think are slightly different. At this point I think there are only four actual tenders in the entire park. Chicken Shack, Gluten Free (potato works), Chik'fil'a, and everywhere else. Of the places that used the cloned tenders, you get different options of sides; natural cut fries, tater tots, and normal fries.

Yeah, sorry about the delay, my wife decided to go and give birth or something, so I missed out on most of last week. As the poster two people above this said, you can still upgrade to the wedges at Red's Hall of Fame, I did not get a gold discount on them. 2.17 total for the meal deal and upgrade. Also worth noting, this year the receipt passive-aggressively (maybe not) points out that they expect tips. I could never figure out if the servers at RHoFG got paid tip rates, or full pay. I usually left a small tip, not sure what to do, but the receipt now says "Tips are not included in Meal Plans".

I was surprised last year with how Outhank's turned out, mostly because I expected it to be undercooked and minimal. I think what saved it for me is I took my Chipotle approach and got double rice, which helped soak up how ridiculously wet the meat was.
-
Yes, specialty potato wedges are still an available menu upgrade for $1.99 at RHoFG. I can't for the life of me figure out how to upload a photo to this post, otherwise I'd share the note from the menu, which is listed under the entrees section. Sorry I know it is still on the menu and that you can order then with a meal. What I mean is can I get the potato wedges with the meal plan, I am even willing to pay the extra $2 if needed. That was where everyone suddenly had an issue when I asked. Last year you could get the wedges but you would be charged the extra $2 although you still got the annual pass discount which worked for the entire original meal price so the cost was pretty minor. If nobody answers this by this weekend, I will check it out. I know it worked last year like you said, personally I prefer the chips and they aren't an upsell. Also Chicken Shack's breading is definitely different than all other tender breading. At least of the ones I have tried this year so far, which I think is almost all of them except Potato Works.

I am a sucker for Diamondback. Banshee is a more enjoyable ride to me, but my body does not tolerate loops very well, so I'd have to spread it out. Diamondback I can ride for a long time, especially nighttime rides.

Updated a few meals with new thoughts. Some of the meal descriptions are misleading on the side-item. Even though they all say fries, they aren't always fries (tots or wedges)

Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees
Stoan replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
I'm sure it was mentioned earlier, but I can't be bothered to read through 33 pages =), where are they putting the new bridge for White Water Canyon? They ripped the old one out and the area is fenced in where it used to be. Either the new thing has to be fairly small, or they are re-routing the path for WWC.
