  1. Well, chicken tenders at the Festhaus are exactly the same as they were last year. Unfortunately they also moved to fries instead of mini wedges. It also turns out "Fresh Grilled Burger" was a bit of a fantasy in my experience. They still pull it out of a steamer pan, so they are luke warm at best. A choice of toppings make it a bit better, but still not hot enough to even put a glimmer of a thought of melt on the cheese, they also use this wildly offputting maple syrup bacon on the burger, so the whole experience is just a sad cold oddly sweet tasting bite. Then they finish with generic fries which at least were crispy even if unsalted, yay!
  2. While we are on the topic, does anyone else really like Banshee's restraint system? Granted I am a dude, so I don't have certain things that may be bothered by it, but it seems like a sturdy, comfy, not-overly-snug fit. Backlot, Mystic, Beast, Racer are all lapbars. Beast is a snug fit for my knees (and other things), all the others are fine.
  3. Not that it may apply, but it might. If you have little kids, not everyone can fit on the Kite Eating Tree. My daughter HAS to have an adult with her, but I am too big at 6'2" 220. My torso is too big for the should restraint to click on the first lock so the ride won't operate.
  4. With the comments about altering the meal deal, I have learned to hate the new website. Sure it is pretty and probably mobile friendly, but it isn't easy to navigate, but nowhere on the page can I find a list of the meal options any more. The old version listed locations and their meal plan offerings, now it is just a list of locations. Meaning if they change things, you can't look it up, you have to either; A - Hope they print new pamphlets with the updated offerings or B - Go to the location, order what you want, realize the plan doesn't cover it any more and get irritated. I can understand a few changes from a monetary point of view. Smaller drinks and smaller meals? Sure, I can understand that. I'd complain, but honestly I live 8 minutes away, I'm going to use my stupid plan at least 60 times this year, I'm getting my money's worth. But badly organized workers is dumb, if you want to cut work force to save money, then cut it, but don't have 50% too many people in one place and 75% too few people in another. Move people to the register. Food prep is not the slow part in this equation, it is almost always the register. Badly planned layouts? It appears they are working on it. The automated registers on Coney Mall Skyline is a nice step forward, not exactly clear on what to do or how to get it to do what you want, but a good idea. Chick-Fil-A's updated ordering queue is a huge improvement. I'll forgive this for now since this actually takes some engineering.
  5. Worth side noting, the bike trail under the bridge obviously will also be closed, probably due to falling exploded debris...
  6. The only thing I think could be truely Gluten Free is probably the pizza at Festhaus. At least last I looked you have to order it from a different register all together and they cook it right then and there. They may use the same ovens as the LaRoasa's pizza so it could pick some up from there, but the "non-sticks" for most pizza places is cornmeal not flour, so it would be very minimal cross contamination. The Coney Mall Potato Works I think is all Gluten Free now, and the sides are potatoes. But like you said, if they are frying in oil with gluten it kind of negates the whole purpose. I am not sure how you manage 1200 calories a day. I set my goal to 1700 and I have a hard time keeping to that, and I am not a very active person. But yeah, the most annoying thing I realized when I got diagnosed with diabetes and realizing how many carbs are in every thing. Cheap quick snacks are pretty much out the window.
  7. Pretty sure at least 200 of those rides on Congo Falls is me when I was a kid. Didn't it used to be called Amazon Falls?
  8. Prepare for trouble, and MAKE IT DOUBLE!
  9. It is 2.99 to switch, and I believe that switch is only allowed once. The souvenir cup is scanned for the refill on that plan, the disposables are given from scanning your gold pass. Once you get your souvenir cup, there isn't anything on your gold pass any more. Obviously there isn't anything on the disposable cups that would allow you to scan. So you'd have to pay the 2.99 to swap in the first place, and at worse you are stuck, at best you'd have to pay 2.99 to swap back again.
  10. Last year I made it all the way to the gate before I realized something was up
  11. I must drink a lot, I usually plow through the souvenir cup in about 3-4 drinks.
  12. I think I am going to use your review on the first post on the thread, salad is kind of my last resort food hah.
  13. Yes, skyline brand hot sauce. Chick fil a has Texas Pete
  14. Tom+Chee classic is Texas today and 4 slices of cheese vs the 2 on the BBQ Bacon. Skyline 3 way with fries is more food, but less tasty over the cheese Coney of last year Snoopy grill is back to fries, and from the smell they aren't lying about the fresh grilled Burger, I'll check tomorrow
  15. 3717-1-03.6 Food: discarding or reconditioning unsafe, adulterated or contaminated food. (A) A food that is unsafe, adulterated, or not honestly presented as specified under rule 3717-1-03 of the Administrative Code shall be discarded or reconditioned according to an approved procedure. (B) Food that is not from an approved source as specified under paragraphs (A) to (G) of rule 3717-1-03.1 of the Administrative Code shall be discarded. (C) Ready-to-eat food that may have been contaminated by an employee who has been restricted or excluded as specified under paragraph (D) of rule 3717-1-02.1 of the Administrative Code shall be discarded. (D) Food that is contaminated by food employees, consumers, or other persons through contact with their hands, bodily discharges, such as nasal or oral discharges, or other means shall be discarded. If someone touched it, they have to toss it (http://www.agri.ohio.gov/divs/FoodSafety/Docs/Regs/DR1-01.pdf). That is pretty nasty, and honestly worth calling to attention to the supervisor or the health board.
  16. My daughter is a big fan of the "biggg dinosaaars". Its a nice little walk as an adult, the animatronics are a bit janky on some, but the kids don't seem to mind.
  17. As long as your food isn't in some absurdly large container you most likely won't be stopped. I bring in all kinds of snacks every time I go, security looks right at it and moves on. But like Malem says, if they do give you crap just go to Guest Services and argue special dietary needs, personally I am diabetic.
  18. LaRosas on international street still had dipping sauce, but yeah silly too run out so early. I guess preview and opening day were more crowded than they expected too
  19. If you aren't there, get there. Very little crowds, super nice day. Most rides are sub 30 minutes, except mystic timbers. KI is also giving out all you can carry airheads. Most people are walking around with a few pounds in bags.
  20. If nobody noticed this, this year's cup is smaller than last year's. With some very scientific measurements, it's about 6oz less
  21. Park is packed, lines are long, and there is still a huge line to get into the parking lot. Very very crowded today, most lines are at least an hour or close. MT is much shorter now though. Somehow i still expect tomorrow to be worse. On a lighter note, Tom+Chee bbq bacon is pretty good, as long as you don't mind super stale chips. In case the picture doesn't show it; two pieces of American cheese, a load of crumbled bacon, bbq sauce, bbq chips (not the bag)
  22. 4 hour line at least according to one employee
  23. Its is stupid crowded. Line for MT is back to the Eiffel Tower over to at least Rivertown bathroom
  24. Updated quickly forecast from WLWT, its looking pretty good. Thursday Apr 13 75°F / 53°F Friday Apr 14 79°F / 59°F Saturday Apr 15 (chance of rain) 80°F / 62°F Sunday Apr 16 (storms likely) 75°F / 50°F
  25. Which is my point, its called something it clearly isn't. I understand it is for charity, which slightly annoys me more. They front-load the idea with "do this thing for charity we will give you something as a reward!", but then just sneak in a bunch of other people for free who didn't pay for the charity. Do the media day, do the promos, but start with the first riders. Shoot the promos with them, let the media go after. Changing the name as well. Either way, I didn't participate in the auction, it just seemed a bit of a corporate bait and switch.
