Hulk trains in trash
ethancoaster replied to Oldschool75's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The question everyone is dying to get answered... Does this count as a new credit? Wouldn't matter to me, I've never been to Universal. -
Hulk trains in trash
ethancoaster replied to Oldschool75's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I'm assuming they're going with the LSM launch used on Thunderbird, and for the new trains, I hope they're B&M hyper trains with shinbars similar to SD2K. Unless they're doing a retracking, I would think a vest restraint train would be too wide. -
Charlie Brown Coming to the Big Screen

I'll see it on Netflix. I just hope it revitalizes the Peanuts brand. It's a great theme for a kids area. -

2015 Golden Ticket Winners

Knoebels is coming close to dethroning Cedar Point in the states. I know these polls are more coaster-centric but Disney always seems to be near the bottom of the polls. With Europa being #1 again you'd expect Disney to place higher. -
Cedar Point 2016 Talk

It'd be nice if they could make the queue entrance similar to Dragon Challenge at IOA. I know this is Cedar Fair (and more specifically, Cedar Point), but I feel they really missed the mark on theming. Especially with the Valravn theme. So much wasted potential. As for the ride itself, I'm expecting to love it considering how much I loved Griffon. I have it ranked #8 (my count is barely over 50 though) and it's ranked a spot above Dragster. So it's likely to land in my top four at the Point. I still think the new restraints are a bit unnecessary but I think Cedar Fair chose them just to say, "look, we innovated the dive coaster concept by adding vests!". Hopefully the whole train uses the row 4 big boy seats on Gatekeeper. -

Same restraints. Note that if you had the problems with tightening vests on Gatekeeper opening year, those problems have been fixed, and Banshee received the fixed restraints to begin with. Oh....... I actually visited CP this summer. My problem with the restraints isn't that they tighten (which has obviously been fixed), it's that there's not that much breathing room to begin with. -

This is going to be a great addition, but I haven't gotten the chance to visit Kings Island yet. The only experience I've had with vest restraints is Gatekeeper. How are Banshee's restraints in comparison? -

^ In half an hour. -
Great photos! The background looks so empty without Thunder Road.

I've tried to feel sympathetic for the victim, he seemed like a decent human being. I hate to see other forums make him out to be some sort of mass murderer or wild animal. But to suggest that his death was anyone else's fault other than his is absolutely ridiculous. If the fences are so ineffective, how come most sensible people ask one of the employees for assistance?

Racer is probably safe considering its still popular, but I'd hate to see another racing woodie go down. We're still feeling the pain down south. If I had to guess, next year's addition will be one of the classic flats from Europe.

Maybe extra time to pick a new name..... I know that's just speculation but it would kinda make sense. -
^ That's what bothers me the most, his age. Teens are pretty materialistic these days so I'd expect this to happen to a seventeen year-old (though I don't know why I'm talking about teens that way considering I'm only 14). But this happened to a 40 year old+ man. Even if he thought he could dodge Raptor, he broke park rules and that's setting a terrible example for his kids if he had any. Adults should know the difference between right and wrong. Anyone with common sense should know that no material is worth risking your life for or ruining the lives of others. I was honestly shocked when I learned his age. And it made me even more disappointed that I can't expect grown men to behave themselves anymore than teenagers at an amusement park.

I feel horrible for the family but now everyone who visits the park within the next week has to miss out on the best ride at Cedar Point because someone wasn't smart enough to stay out of a RESTRICTED AREA. He wasn't killed by Raptor, he killed himself the second he stepped over that fence. He endangered the riders and put his family through hell over an object that could've been easily retrieved after park hours. I want to feel bad for him but I just can't. He should've known better.

Carowinds' Thunder Road to race no more
ethancoaster replied to jsus's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Well maybe not official-official, but during the Thunder Road tour, maintenance director Steve Jackson said the lift hill would've have to have been completely rebuilt and the ride wasn't popular enough to justify those costs. -

Thunder Road is pretty much just a big pile o' wood now. All that remains are the station, lifthills, turnarounds, and hills leading up to the turnarounds. Apparently the official reason it's coming down is because the lift hill and other spots needed to be retracked but the ride was not popular enough to warrant repairs. It's a sad time in Carowinds' history. -

So far, only the signage and station ramps have been removed. I think they may have begun removing the track, but I'm not 100% sure about that. -

I thought the pictures were fake but they do seem pretty video game-y. I'm assuming those are renderings from the actual app and not for the official ride rendering. -
